Concrete Repair
Yes, I recommend this pro
$2,000
I told John Leik that one day I'd join Angie's List, and that when I did, first thing, I was going to tell you all about him. I was that serious about how happy I was; so here I am. I hired his company to replace my front porch pre-cast steps (disintegrating), replace the porch cap to match new steps, and repair the cement block porch foundation (and make it pretty too.) Both the new steps and cap were poured. There was a communication snag during the construction, rather a big one, but in sorting it out John listened to me, was concerned that I was happy, was open about his perspective, and (a big AND) he was always so very nice and professional. After the 'snag' the job got completed much to my satisfaction, and in December that's under pretty lousy conditions :(. Through it all, from not knowing me from 'Adam' to knowing me fairly well, John was very verbally communicative as to questions I had, schedules when the work was being done, and so on. Too, as my front porch was a whole PROJECT, so another firm was doing railings and awning, John was most accommodating and willing to talk to them about size of bolts they were installing, and WHEN, so the potential for harm to the concrete was minimal. In my experience, you can hold John to his word in every way. It's been nearly 9 mos. since he finished the actual job of pouring, but he said he'd be back in warmer weather to power wash and remove side supports (that were here and there), and he was. He's also been back to repair some imperfections in the concrete - remember, poured in December, then covered for at least 3 mos. - stuff happens. He's due back finally to seal everything, and I know I can count on his word. I really feel that John has integrity. I can't recommend him more highly. I only graded B, which IS good (!), instead of an A re: quality, because...well I guess concrete's concrete. The cap seems to have cured at a different rate than the steps, so they don't exactly match, plus there were those imperfections in the cap he had to fix, and the cap didn't seem to cure uniformly, but folks...straight A's except for one B and I'm going to go on about it? Nah. It took a LOT, about 3 years really, of sorting through Bozo's, or people who didn't show, or people who clearly were trying to do it on the cheap OR who asked far too much for too little. It's because I need other services too, and because I was really heartened by my experience with Leik Foundation, and thought you might want to know, that I joined Angie's List today. I'll look forward to hearing of your experiences.
