I had 3 companies out from Angies LIst - King-Bur was the only one that understood the issue - the house was built in 1926 and has funny angles and different roof lines - He was the only one that grasped where the insulation should go and how to accomplish it appropiately. Such a relief. One of the other companies had some crazy idea and proposed 3x the money - His guys showed up and did a great job - cleaning up afterward. Problem solved. THis company is honest and experienced enought to understand the job and was successful in doing what was needed.

Good price. They did everything as described. Cleaned up after themselves. Everything done according to expectation.

They cut holes and removed bricks to access some uninsulated areas. That part was fine but when they got done there was no appreciable difference in the cold areas of the house. My guess is that they couldn't get insulation into some of the areas because these outside walls are no warmer than they were before the work began. I would like to continue the insulating work but I don't know that I won't be throwing good money after bad. I never saw an infrared scan so I don't know what went wrong but I wouldn't waste my money again. They blocked off an access to the roof above the house leading to the garage with scraps of cardboard stapled together and called it done. They were going to repaint the bricks that were removed when the weather got warmer but that never happened. There are lots of people in this business...I would suggest going elsewhere.
Description of Work: Owner came out and gave me an estimate to partially insulate cold areas of the exterior walls of my house.

They showed up on time, they inspected everything then got started. The owner answered the few questions I had and offered advice on a few non related issues. They brought the hose in through an upstairs window and on up into the attic where they blew in about 6x the insulation that I already had. They then went outside and added a few more vents tothe eave they said I did not have enough for proper circulation. They then cleaned up, then the owner came back I think the next day with the paper work I needed to get the energy credit rebate for my taxes. They did a good job overall, I had a very good experience with them. I am sorry I do not remember the cost but I know it seemed like a good price.
Description of Work: They blew in treated cellulose in my attic and added a few vents on the front eaves. The attic is about 1,000 sq. ft..

They did do the work within the time stated. I had a little trouble getting in touch with them initially, but they were very timely after that. When they blew the insulation in, they didn't realize that there were cracks in the paneling. It went through some of the cracks into the upstairs, which took a lot of cleaning. Other than that, they were very efficient. I called them because I was having ice dams in the front. While they didn't completely correct the problem, they improved it.

The work was done on the promise date. Professionalism and product knowledge of the owner/sales rep were excellent. I would highly recommend this company. I had 4 companies come to the house and provide estimates. King-Bur was tops.
Description of Work: Added blown-in insulation in the attic, including installation of vents from soffit to a level above the top of the new insulation, installation of covers for recessed lights, installed galvanized pipe to bathroom fan to have it vent outside not into the attic

The work crew were on time, professional and went the "extra mile" to ensure that the job was done properly. I would definitely recommend and use them again.
Description of Work: Blown-in cellulose insulation in the house attic on top of existing insulation. Had bathroom fan whose exhaust was simply venting into the attic. King Burr added piping and roof vent so that the fan now vented outside.

They did an excellent job throughout. From the written proposal submitted by the owner, Bruce McIntyre, through the completion of the work, everything was done very professionally and with the highest standards. The total cost was also very reasonable. I am most pleased with the completed work and greatly appreciative of the honesty and candor exhibited by the owner and his employees. I definitely would recommend this company to others.

The owner, Bruce McIntyre, personally reviewed the job and gave us an estimate that was exactly the job cost. He also performed the work with an assistant. They protected the carpet on our stairway and cleaned up after the job was done. Bruce seems knowledgeable about insulation and was slightly less expensive then the other company that bid the job. He saw that we used the attic for storage and suggested a way to fully insulate it but keep a storage space, something the other company did not do. Some of the cost above was to build the platform to accomplish this as well as to correct an incorrectly routed bathroom vent. After the job was done, we noticed an immediate improvement in the temperature of the house.

The process was smooth from estimate to completion. Bruce provided a professional, straightforward estimate, scheduling was easy and his crew was hardworking and friendly. The price perhaps a bit higher than other companies, but Bruce found a way to do a more comprehensive job (by finding access to a dormer space where there was currently no insulation at all) and I was confident that his company would do the job right.
Description of Work: King Bur installed proper venting through the attic to the roof for two second floor bathrooms, insulated two main attic spaces and a dormer attic with blown in cellulose--roughly 1200 sf--and installed additional attic vents.

Quick and efficient during the work. Conscious of keeping the interior of our home clean. Fast and quality work overall. During estimate and scheduling process he was hard to track down by phone and didn't return calls as promptly as I would consider appropriate.
Description of Work: Blew insulation into attic areas of my home. Also needed to add entry-sized hole in one attic as the original entry was blocked by previous owner's kitchen remodel.

This was an outstanding experience with this provider! Bruce and his crew were great. We had also received a quote from another insulation company, who while very impressive and competitive in pricing, was not going to do as much work in all of the areas as King-Bur did.
Description of Work: Blown-in cellulose insulation in exterior walls of main living areas, addition, and bungalow attic; and install blanket insulation in bond plates and overhangs in basement. Removed existing roof vents, enlarged access to attics, and replaced with larger roof vents for improved circulation. Removed existing blanket insulation from side attics and replaced with Fiberglas blanket insulation with a higher R value and installed Visqueen. Also cleaned out bird's nests (!) from existing roof vents and installed steel wire so said birds would not be able to move back into our side attics!

Very Positive experience. Bruce also discovered that the belt on the attic fan was loose and damaged. He searched a number of stores in the area, and was able to find and install a new belt for me for just the actual cost of the fan belt. There were also two bathroom vents that were not properly connected, which he fixed at nominal charge. A very professional and well done job.
