We have used Grennan Construction for both our siding and our roof replacement and have had a great experience on both occasions. Their quoting process was very transparent - they answered any questions we had and priced the job fairly. Our project managers were easy to get a hold of and quickly responded to any questions or concerns we had. The work was done quickly and with quality. Our roof needed some major work done, and the crew finished the job in a timely manner and addressed every issue that needed to be fixed. In September 2021, Grennan Construction replaced the siding on our home, a $31k investment. Last summer (2023) we noticed a leak in our dining room ceiling and could not figure out where it was coming from. We had people from 2 different roofing companies walk our roof and both companies said our 16-year-old roof was in decent shape and had a lot of life left. On November 6, 2023, we hired a leak detection company. The representative had 20+ years of experience. He used an infrared camera to first confirm the inside of our interior wall was dry. He then inspected the exterior wall and found a window that was not caulked at all and a corner where flashing was not installed properly. He took our hose and sprayed water around those 2 areas. He went back inside, checked the same spot on our wall with the infrared camera and confirmed there was now water in the inside of our wall and that was the source of our leak. The leak detection professional wrote up a detailed report and advised that we needed our siding contractors to come out, caulk the window, fix the flashing, and check the weatherproofing underneath the siding on that wall because it was exposed to water for 2 years. We immediately contacted Grennan Construction then emailed the report. It took several phone calls and texts to get a response. On November 24, 2023, a representative came out and confirmed the window was not caulked and the flashing was not installed correctly. He caulked my window with white caulk even though the rest of the caulk is gray and said he couldn’t fix the flashing that day. I asked about checking the weatherproofing under the siding. He said the siding looked fine and if we had problems after he fixed the flashing to let them know. The flashing was fixed January 12, 2024, as it took several follow up phone calls and texts to have the rep come back out. On January 18, we had our ceiling fixed and the leak returned one week later. On February 2, the owner of Grennan Construction called us after a few phone calls and promised to have someone come out. On April 29, after multiple empty promises, follow up calls and texts, we posted a complaint on social media. The rep came out on May 2. Imagine how much additional damage occurred from February 2 through May 2 with snowfalls and rain. He got on a ladder with a hose and went right up to our roof. He said we had a spot on our roof that was damaged and that was causing the leak. We were surprised at that finding because of what we were told by the other 2 roofing companies we had out last summer. Our response was “okay we will get that fixed but we still need you to check this siding.” The rep said okay and he would tell the owner. On May 3, we immediately contacted a roofing professional and had him fix the spot on the roof. He said the rest of the roof looked good and had a lot of life left. On May 5, I sent a follow up text to the owner and the Grennan rep to see when someone would come out to check our siding. The owner immediately sent me a picture of the spot on my roof, said our roof was quite old and offered to give us a quote to replace it. I asked him to call me. I explained that we had the spot on our roof fixed but we need the weather proofing behind the siding checked because we spent $2000 to have the damage from the first leak fixed, will have to pay that again to get this damage fixed and we can’t afford to pay that again with another leak from the siding. The owner made a comment about our social media post. I said we would remove it and he would never hear from us again if someone would come out and check our siding. The owner said he would check it and that he did want to hear from us again because Grennan stood behind their work. He also said he was so worried about the damage to our roof that he wanted to check it. He said he would even fix it himself if he did not think it was done correctly. I thought we were getting somewhere. He came out on May 7, and it was like a terrible case of amnesia set in. He told us if we got upset, he would just leave. He said he did not want to go over history, he just wanted to talk about today. Then he checked our roof, said the guy who fixed it did a terrible job and that he would give us the name of a guy who could fix it. He also stated that our roof was reaching the end of life. At this point we had 3 roofing professionals look at our roof and say something different, so I changed the subject. I asked if he could check our siding. He said “no, the sole source of your leak is your roof.” I tried to reason with him. I said in my mind we had 2 sources for our leak, the siding and the spot on the roof. Before I could finish, he interrupted with “yes, that is in your mind.” His arrogance and interrupting eventually brought me to tears of frustration so I asked him to leave. It’s been over a month since we last heard from Grennan Construction. We will not push them anymore. We will now have to pay someone to come out and check the weather proofing behind our siding.

During our phone conversation before my visit, I even offered to address the roof issue, despite it not being part of our original scope of work, to make up for the missed appointments. Originally, we were very happy with the installation of our James Hardie board. Unfortunately we found out the hard way that Grennan Construction does not stand behind their work. During the installation they made a human error and did not caulk and apply flashing correctly which led to a leak to our dining and living room ceilings causing over $2,000 worth of damage. We have made close to 20 texts or phone calls to Fred, his employees or his office in an attempt to have them come out access, and effectively stop the leak. They told us it was fixed once, we had the inside of our home professionally repaired and painted only to have the leak return shortly afterwards. Go Elsewhere!! Was referred to Grennan Construction by a trusted source and they didn't disappoint. The crew was very polite and conscientious from beginning to end. The Hardie board installation looked good from day one and continues to look great. You should definitely use Grennan Construction if you the job well done at a fair price and on schedule.

We had our house resided by Grennan. It was a large project and had a number of complicating features. Grennan Construction took the time upfront to help us pick the color and style of siding that we would be happy with. They were not pushy, but instead were very patient, helpful and responsive. The owner was personally involved and offered many suggestions. The cost estimate was reasonable and the timing to do the work fit our schedule. The construction crew did an outstanding job and took care of all the details to make sure we were happy with the job when it was finished. Contract states things which do not occur. "will make every attempt to protect your property" workers borrowed my stepladder & cracked the paint shelf, scarred up my stairs to second level. "At the end of each day, the working area will be made watertight" didn't happen vent strip direct center of the roof left completely open for a full Sunday day of rain. "100% cleaned after job completion." I had to clean shingle scraps off various areas. "magnetically swept daily" never saw them do that have been picking up nails from around the construction area. I was shingling a lower area of roof myself at the same time and they cut through brand new underlayment I put down the day prior with their utility knives trimming shingles they were installing. I have very little trust the new underlayment they put down or other steps are completed with care based on that. Vent filter came out of a vent and was hanging from tree limb nearby but still installed the filterless vent housing on my roof.

I would not recommend this company to anyone. You deserve better. There are other companies that would appreciate hard working people and not treat them like crap. This company doesn't communicate about anything. Once they have your deposit, they don't answer calls. They don't respond to questions. The owner first claimed to be responsive. After the first conversation, he treated me like I was bothering him when I tried to find out when they would be starting my work. To this day, he has yet to call me back. After I complained to James Hardie, this company decided to have a worker call me to tell me he was coming the next day. 1.Received an estimate in June 20, 2022. 2.Contacted Sandy, by phone asking questions about the estimate 3. Sandy tried to get Joe the guy who did the estimate to contact me. He would never call me back. 4. Joe finally contacted me because I wanted an estimate for gutters. 5. June 24 I emailed and called because I had not received a call back from Joe. 6. June 24 I shared my frustration by phone to Sandy 7. July 18 was when I received the updated email with gutter estimate; mailed check for the Hardie installation 8. July 28 they cashed the check 9. Heard nothing from this company even after paying a deposit for my work to be done. 10. August 1 emailed Sandy my frustration with this company. 11. Fred GRENNAN decided to call and say he would handle my project concerns; he never did. 12. I had to call this company weekly to get updates on what they were going to do about my project; the bad part is they wouldn't respond 13. Heard nothing from this company in late August or in September 14. October 10 called Fred no response 15. October 10 called Hardie to complain about Grennan 16. Got a call from Jason October 17 telling me he would be starting my job Tuesday October 18 17. October 18- Jason texted this “Thank you good morning to you I picked up all the material for your home this morning but they are calling for rain today so I will not be able to make it down till tomorrow morning but I'll see you tomorrow morning sorry about any inconvenience” 18. October 19- came and left his trailer and said this he was having truck problems 19. October 20- called and said his transmission went out and he wasn’t coming; would come tomorrow and do an excellent job 20. October 21-came at 9:30am and started the job; torn out the old material; put Hardie up 21. October 22-came at 10:30 by himself began finishing up project; painted; I cleaned up 22. October 23- came and caulked and touched up No one should have to go through all this to get a job done. I don't know if it was because I'm located in Detroit or what. This company made me feel like my job wasn't important to them.
