Landscaping
$30,000
No vapor barrier installed by Turf Transitions to protect house from moisture in paver base material, resulting in water damage inside house and rotting out the wood siding. Had to remove 7 tons of fill material by hand to repair damaged area on house. The paver patio also sunk toward the house causing water to sit against house during rain storms and snow melt-offs (allowing water to sit again basement walls). Installation is only two years old. The owner Drew LeFresne reviewed the issues with the installation and said he was not responsible for the damage to the house caused by the incorrect installation or the sinking paver patio. The Unilock Branch Manager reviewed the installation and stated it was done wrong and that Turf Transitions is NOT a Certified Unilock installer. Now the full patio has to be pulled, correct base layer installed and reset all the pavers for $20,000 USD!!!! Bottom line, do not hire these clowns for hardscape projects!!! They don’t own up to their mistakes and run away once they are paid!!! No pride in their work!!! It’s sad companies like this are in business!!!

Lawn Service
I wanted to hire a local provider.  They were local.  But I also wanted to hire a company that would be reliable and would be able to communicate.    They never called to discuss what was to be plowed, or to explain what they could or couldn't.
Several weeks after the request for their snow plowing service they mailed a contract saying they would plow for $40 dollars a push.  No details of what they were to clear except that they would plow when the snowfall was 2-inches or more. No specifics of the driveways and sidewalks and stepsthat required show removal The $40 price was very reasonable for drives and walks, but not reasonable for only the regular driveway.
I called them when I received their contract, and left a message that I needed full service for sidewalks and circular drive and front porch steps.  I also said I would mail back the contract with those additional items listed as being required services.  Still no response by phone or email.
Several days later we had 8-inches of snow.  They didn't show up to plow, nor did they respond to my email or phone calls.  About 2-weeks later I received a response to my email explaining that they never received my signed contract.  No explanation of why they don't answer their phone, no explanation of why they don't call back, and no explanation of why it took 2-weeks to respond to the email I sent during the 8-inch snow storm.
