Wow. I called D&R to get someone to look at the HVAC in a home we bought two years ago. It has not been giving us adequate heating in the new extension that was built in 2008. The installation manager came out and spent about two hours and looked at everything possible. After looking into the entire system he found that the previous owner did not have the correct thermostat installed and it did not allow for the 2nd stage of the furnace to kick in. He also determined the thermostat was in the worst location possible to give an accurate reading of the whole house temperature. He set up an appointment for his men to come out today, 2-8-20. Two men came out and ran a new thermostat from the center of the house (as I stated above, the old one was in one end of the house which not only was the wrong thermostat but it did not allow for a accurate temperature to be recorded for the furnace to kick on). They had a heck of a time because the new addition had no basement like the original part of the home. They ran the new wiring threw the wall, down to the crawl space and into the basement to the furnace. They also rerouted one of the HVAC ducts in one room to give me better heating in a bathroom. Then they did an entire check on the system to ensure that the 2nd stage was kicking in properly, and they also found they needed to adjust the gas regulator (not sure of the correct terminology). Folks, they did a great job, really great. Here are two take-always. First, the installation manager could have given me a song and a dance and replaced many things and cost many thousands of dollars and I would not have known the different. However, he was honest and gave me accurate information. Second, the two workers today could have screwed around and taken their time as I was paying by the hour, they could have cost me an arm and a leg, but they got the job done, they did not take one break and worked the entire time (Trust me, I watched). I am definitely going to sign up for their program where they come out and check the system twice a year and give discounts if you are a member. I cannot get over the fact of how honest, knowledge, they were, let alone their fair and honest pricking. I did not dream we could get the system fixed for what we paid.

The inducer motor fan was making noise by rubbing against the housing and technician showed me the stress fractures on the fan. Recommended replacing, however the unit is sold as an assembly with the fan motor for $350. I decided to forego the expense and respectfully, the technician re-assembled the unit then did the requested cleaning and maintenance.
Very professional, prompt service. The furnace has not made the noise since the technician re-assembled, but I will call them when it becomes a problem as he did not 'pressure' or belittle my decision to wait until the fan or the whole unit fails before I replace it. Understandably, they could not warranty the work since I chose not to replace the fan motor assembly.

In the fall of 2007 I paid about $1650 for heating oil for the furnace. The heating was all we used the oil for and everything else was and is electric. We had averaged about 600 gallons of heating oil per year for the past 15 years. I decided to look around for a better solution. Propane was available, but was about the same price as the oil and not as efficient. Natural gas is not available in our area either. After that I looked at heat pumps and then finally geothermal systems. We decided to go with a closed loop geothermal system as opposed to pump and drain system. The end result is that we no longer pay more than $2000. per year for ALL non communication utilities combined. This includes heat, AC, clothes drying, cooking, water supply and all other normal electrical household uses. The reason that I went with D&R is because my neighbor is the manager of our local supermarket and he had remarked on several occasions about the outstanding job that D&R had done installing very high tech heating and cooling systems in the store. The 2 of us got together and asked D&R about a discount for doing both his and ours at the same time. Since the digging equipment had to be hauled quite a way in both cases we saved them a trip hauling a large back hoe and bulldozer. We got that money as our discount. By the time that the summer was over, 5 of the 12 houses on our road had D&R geothermal signs in their front yards.

Everything went VERY well. The installer was a few minutes early and he put floor mats down to protect my floor, there was no mess in the basement when they were done and it passed inspection the first time. Not only that, they thought it would take all day and they were done by 2pm.

I have been using them for a long time now and they are always very polite and courteous when they come over. The rates are really cheap as well.
