"Update 6/5/20 BBB case#14404123 was decided in our companies favor. I was surprised when you called the other day after 3 years. I have noticed over those years your constant bashing of our company on social media, without ever letting me know personally of your displeasure. Now seeing your Google review profile, I see that is a habit of yours. The issues with communication and timing of the project came about with you having a furnace installed in the middle of our project, halting us for two days, causing us to work through a holiday weekend to complete your floors. With the yellowing of your floor there are a few reasons this can happen, which are stated on our contract on Line 10. Excessive sunlight or the cleaning products used, could cause this, which would be out of our control. You can clearly see that the floor under the rug, that wasn't exposed, kept the true color. We cannot control what happens to the floor years after we complete a project. As far as the spacing between the boards goes, we did not install your floor. This is due to improper installation or lack of humidity control. Our contract clearly states that humidity control is the responsibility of the homeowner. The recommended range of 30%-50% relative humidity is optimal in a home with hardwood floors. You can refer to the NWFA’s Problems, Causes, and Cures section to confirm this. You asked me to take care of a warranty issue, two years after the warranty expired, and none of your concerns are a warranty issue at all. Again, I would have been more receptive to helping you if you had come to me years ago, about your displeasure with me personally. Instead of multiple times taking your frustrations online, despite apparently having a good experience like you clearly stated in your opening statement. I wish you the best of luck."
The kitchen flooring was a factory pre-finished floor. Our original contractor assumed that the flooring was oak. They sanded the pre-finished kitchen floor and installed a new oak floor in the foyer and powder room. They did not notice a difference between the old and newly installed floors until the floors were stained. The foyer floor was at least three shades darker than the kitchen even though the same stain was used. The wood grain was different in each room as well. The kitchen's grain was much more open versus a tighter grain pattern in the foyer. It was later determined that the kitchen floor was not oak but in fact ash. The owner of the original flooring company admitted to his mistake and refunded us our money. The first oak wood floor incorrectly installed in the foyer had to be removed and re installed, sanded, and refinished with ash wood. We decided to find a new contractor to complete the job. We chose Carter Quality Hardwood Flooring.
We new that installing a new ash floor in the foyer and matching the stain to the kitchen would be difficult. Jason Carter and his crew did a fantastic job of working with us to make sure the floors turned out beautifully. Jason has a ton of experience and knowledge about wood flooring and refinishing. He is a true craftsmen and does a quality job. It's rare to find a contractor who genuinely cares about the quality of his work and believes that the work he preforms is a reflection upon himself. His crew was very easy and pleasant to work with too. Sanding the ash floor was much more difficult to do than an ordinary oak floor. Jason and his crew member Mike put in extra hours to make sure the sanding was done perfectly. Jason took his time and made sure the stain matched just right as well. Jason also added two new coatings of finish on our kitchen floor - something the other installer "forgot" to do.
This was a difficult job. Jason was not intimidated by the challenge and was confident all would turn out perfectly and it did! We love our new wood floors! The old and new floors match perfectly and look absolutely beautiful! The name "Carter Quality Hardwood Flooring" is not cliche. Jason and his crew members, Tim and Mike, do high quality work. Thank You Carter Quality!
