F and J Construction finished my basement which included a large living room, bedroom, some plumbing and electrical work, and 2 egress windows. Jack and his partner Dave were absolutely amazing. I requested estimates from about 15 different companies and decided to go with F and J. I’m so glad I went with them. They were very easy to work with, kindly answered all my questions, and most importantly the work they did was superb. They worked with the contractors and easily completed the permitting process so I didn’t have to be involved. Even after they finished the job, when we were moving furniture, I scraped the wall. Jack patched it up and painted it even though it was my mistake. I trusted them when I was gone for the weekend and of course there were no issues. I’ve recommended them to friends and family members. I will definitely contact them for future projects in my house.

Jack is consummate professional. We had a small job - a backsplash for a small kitchen - but he treated it with attention to detail and meticulousness that were impressive. He was prompt, courteous and neat. He also helped me get a bit of a discount on the expensive custom tiles. WE didn't kow this when we hired F&J Construction but Jack comes from a family of tile layers going back a to at least his grandfather. We thought that was a nice plus - having a craftsman dedicated to his job as tradecraft.

We were very pleased and would heartily recommend F&J.

It has taken me over 4 years to catch up with them, they came to my house one time to make a repair to the the poor job they did. I called them back to let them know that what they fixed has cracked again and no more response from them. They have changed there business name form J & F Floors to F & J Construction LLC.

This was my second project with F and J, and they both went well and were completed as projected.  In order to contain some of the costs, it was my desire to do some of the minor  updates  myself (painting, mirror installation, towelbars, and drawer pulls.  F and J are very detail oriented, and would have done a fine job with these, for anyone not wanting to do it themselves.   Also, I think they offer several "turnkey"  remodels for standard bathroom sizes.    Jack was very flexible, and allowed me to purchase my own cabinets, plumbing fixtures, counter top and shower doors (rather than run it all through his account).  So the job amount shown above does not include these elements, which added about another $3000.  I still saved a bundle over some of my other estimates, and  I'm totally thrilled with the final results!  I was also pleased with the tasteful design suggestions.  Jack really does care about his customers.

The demo was done in 1/2 day.  He removed 2 vanities, a bathtub & glass doors, plumbing fixtures. medicine cabinets, toilet, tile floor, tile walls, light fixtures etc.  We wanted a big walk in shower.  Jack enlarged the shower area, put up new liner and wallboard, moved the plumbing and electricity. 
Jack completed our bathroom & dressing area remodel in about 2 weeks.  It would have been faster but I chose large travertine tiles for walls and floors and it took more time.  There was a detailed accent piece around the shower. His tile placement was perfection.
His eye for detail is unmatched.  He leveled each piece.  The grout lines are just perfect.  He laid out the tiles and did a "best match" for each section.  Because I couldn't find a beveled tile piece for the edges, he hand-beveled them  Even now, 2 months later I still see some of his details that amaze me.  He designed a corner shower bench that is so perfect!  He also built a niche inside the shower area.
I'm a very "hands on" person and I ordered the tile, vanities, light fixtures, toilet, mirrors.  Jack made suggestions and one of the best suggestions & was money well spent was to go all out for the best bathroom exhaust fan,  It makes a BIG difference.  We also ordered a frameless glass door.  It was not included in his costs, we paid for it separately, It was pricey but really completes the bathroom.  We had to wait 2 weeks for the glass door to be made (it was a local company recommended by Jack).
His costs included demo, installing new drain, wall liner & concrete for the shower floor, installing faucet & shower heads, installing vanities & faucets, toilet, marble counter tops, purchasing & installing vent fan, he purchased travertine thresholds, grout & all supplies he needed for our tile.  Because the travertine is so heavy it took extra time and skill to place it.  He tiled up to the ceiling in the shower area. 
We could not be more pleased with the job Jack did and highly recommend him.  His work ethic is unmatched.  It was almost like watching an artist at work as he placed the tile.  Everyday when I would come home from work, he would report what he had accomplished and showed me his work.  My neighbors have all oohed & aahed over my new master bath. 

The contractor did a fine job assisting us with identifying our requirements, selecting design styles, choosing tiles and fixtures, completing the demolition of the old bathrooms, and replacing them with the new bathrooms. The contractor was prompt, efficiency, courteous, and technically skilled.

It was great working with Jack on the bathroom. He is very responsive and takes great pride in his work.. He promptly responded to my request for an estimate and answered all my questions about the bathroom remodel. His quote was very fair and I appreciated his input on remodel options. He suggested I send him some pictures of bathrooms that I liked to give him a better feel for what I was looking for. He helped narrow down the tile choices based on the pictures I sent him. He made the process as simple and straightforward as possible and remodeled the bathroom in 5 days. It was as painless as a bathroom remodel could be! Jack has already given me a quote for remodeling the master bathroom. I'm looking forward to working with him again on the master bathroom project. What a pleasure to work with someone who knows their craft, communicates well, and does what he says he'll do. It really was a great experience and I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out!

We had Jack Shokha remodel an upstairs bath last Spring, which included moving a wall, which turned out to be load-bearing, Jack did not hesitate to call an engineer and file all the extensive plans required for the unexpected structural change with Arlington County. Because of the high quality of the first job, we contracted Fand J for a smaller 3/4 bath on the first floor. He was happy to do the smaller job, and it was completed within 4 days. We were just as impressed with the quality of the work for this job as we had been for the bigger job earlier, and found the speedy completion of the work impressive.There was a slight delay, and some email tag, before we managed to schedule an actual date for the job to begin, but once started it was completed promptly, with minimal disruption to our use of the adjoining family room. We've now run out of bathrooms for Jack to remodel, but if we had them, we would definitely call on him again.

We've used Jack twice in the past 7 months and would hire him again to do work for us. He remodeled all 3 bathrooms and installed a foyer and kitchen floor for us. The 3 bathrooms were done in 5 days and the tile work was exceptional. My husband has done some tile work in the past and he was very impressed with quality of the work performed.
Jack provided very good suggestions and also listened to what we wanted. He adjusted his plans when we added additional work and still finished on schedule. We needed some additional electrical work done before our upstairs bathroom could be completed and he worked with our Son's schedule (he is an electrician) to save us some additional money.
While remodeling our kitchen, we needed a quick turn-around on our floor to get the rest finished - we were doing most of the work ourselves - and Jack was able to help us met our schedule.
Jack is very pleasant to work with and I have recommend him to my friends for their remodeling needs.

I've used this contractor a total of 4 times and each time he worked on 4 big projects. My husband and i have investment property and we buy them in the worse condition and he gives us a brand new house by the time he's done. Broken down bathrooms where everything leaks moldy and just not functional. He would tare the whole thing down and give me brand new state of the art bathrooms. Kitchens and floors and walls that have been ruined by leakes in the walls and flooding he would have to tare the walls down from the mold. Treat the house from mold. He had to to change all the floors and kitchen because of the water damage. He's very professional and his work is excellent quality. He is a perfectionist. He always asks for your input and makes sure that you are happy with every aspect of his work. If you don't like it he will re-do it no questions asked. He made sure he got all the codes from the county and worked straight with their codes. He passed all inspections from the first time. I trust him with all his decisions i don't question them. He will only suggest better ways to go about projects but if you would like it a different way he is all for it. He knows the ins and outs of his business. I will definitely call him back on all projects i have as i already have. Also when it comes to estimated date of completion it is just that, an estimate. But in the end you will always be happy with the outcome.

Working with Jack was the best experience we ever had with any contractor. We never imagined that such a complex project and ndash; complete kitchen remodeling - could be finished within 2 weeks. But Fand J Construction did it! And above all this work was delivered with the utmost professionalism, punctuality and attention to detail; everything turned out to be picture perfect including the back splash and beautiful floor tile work. Jack was always open to our suggestions and offered expert and financially rational solutions to our ideas. He is always polite, respectful and follows up on any new issues we discussed. In addition Jack has a very pleasant personality and easy-to-work with demeanor. He owns the task and makes sure the outcome is such that he and his customer will be proud of.
