This is a commercial perennial plant nursery with fabulous products and technical web site. My rep referred me to the company web site to select the plants for a large home gardening project. Other than a few out of stock items, the product they sell is very healthy. The mid-summer planting went well and the garden looked wonderful. Everything was healthy, well maintained and mulched in preparation for winter. However: one primary plant completely died off in multiple locations in the garden. It was a mystery why. After a few months of trying to figure it out it came down to a problem with f the technical product information on the Hortech web site being incorrect, or at the very least highly questionable. Since my landscaper and I both depended on that information, we ended up with one plant species completely failing due to a hardiness issue. I contacted, in writing, Hortech with the summery of my findings, including reputable horticulture websites, specific other commercial nursery information and a summery of my discussions with other nurseryman which showed the information they provided was an issue. I requested product replacement but never heard from them. I called to follow-up and was told it was my letter was referred back to my landscaper. I told them it wasn't a problem with the landscaper but a problem with their own provided product information. I was told a the sales manager would call me back that afternoon but that didn't occur. The next day I get a terse email from my landscaper telling me to stop contacting them and that I was jeopardizing their relationship with this vendor. ??? Never heard from anyone again. I am astounded at Hortech's lack of professionalism and plain rudeness in not responding to my legitimate issues. No short email, quick phone conversation....., addressing my issue or even requesting I go through the landscaper. Nothing. Plus I have a significant loss of plants that no one wants to warranty. It seems that any of the plant descriptions, requirements or hardiness rating from Hortech, or plants labeled Premium Plants, must be considered questionable. Even worse is that it's not likely to improve because they don't seem to care.
