Their quality is second to none. Tony did a great job with the plans and all general contracting. He listened to what we wanted and gave us a plan that fit our needs and wants. I had two other companies give me plans and I felt the other two did not listen as well to what I wanted and tried to push their own ideas. Tony gave us great suggestions from his experience but did not try to impose his own preferences. The carpenter, Bruce, installed all cabinets and trim and his work was perfect. Bruce holds himself to a very high standard. The electricians, plumber, and tile contractors also did high quality work. In addition to the labor, the cabinets they installed are works of art. Epiphany carries a few brands of cabinets which all seem very good, but the ones we ordered we felt were the best of what they carry. The brand is Wooden Hammer and we bought their Signature Line. We visited the factory near Traverse City and saw the production process and learned why they are of such high quality.
The timing went as I expected overall. It took about 2 months from demolition until the work was finished, and I was able to partially use my kitchen about 2 weeks earlier. This timing even included about 3-4 weeks to build the marble countertops. I wanted a specific look for the 2.5and quot; marble countertops that required mitered edges, and it took the stone guy a while to find the right adhesive to use on the marble. This was the only real surprise for me that the stone guy would not already know what adhesive to use for this application. The other thing that seemed to take a while before the demolition started was the engineering drawings that the cabinet-maker creates. These drawings took longer than expected. Then they scheduled the cabinets to be built. Building the cabinets took longer than I had hoped but probably within what is normal. This was not a big issue since it all took place before the old kitchen was removed. Epiphany removed my old cabinets and arranged for Habitat for Humanity to pick them up. Removing cabinets without damage so they can be reused is more difficult but they were glad to do this.
Responsiveness was generally very good relative to my high expectations and if you compare their responsiveness to most contractors it was amazing. If anything was not perfect (which was rare), I told them what I did not like and they fixed it at no extra cost. Yes, I would sometimes like faster return calls or replies to email, but I have no major complaints.
The people at Epiphany were very professional in all regards. Costs were exactly as promised and any changes were clearly agreed upon up-front. There was no attempt to add cost or sell additional services. The designer and all workers were very polite and always addressed us and Mr. and Mrs. They only bring in contactors (electricians, plumbers, etc.) like themselves who are equally professional. If there were options for how to install something for different appearances, they always discussed this with me in advance. It was a pleasure working with Jay the owner, Tony the designer, Bruce the carpenter, Eric from Wooden Hammer and everyone else they used for the job. They spent a lot of time in my home and it was always a good experience. They all seem to love their work and take great pride in their work and it shows.
I would use Epiphany again and highly recommend them. In fact I have already hired them to remodel a powder room.
