The installers were professional, prompt, and answered all of our questions and concerns. The entire job was completed in 3 days. We were warned by the salesman that the installers don't remove the dirt left behind after digging the posts, so it wasn't a surprise that we had some work of our own to do after the job was complete. Our only disappointment was the installation of the metal gate, which wasn't quite as long as our previous gate. But, they were responsive to our concerns and the installers seemed genuinely interested in making sure we were happy. They let the home office know and a few weeks later a couple of other installers came out with a new gate and completed the job to our satisfaction. Overall we are satisfied with our experience, and time will tell if the fencing was a good choice and worth the money.
My only complaint would be about their weird payment system. They ask for a third up front, like many companies. Then, after they install the posts, you need to send the next third, or they won't come out. However, if you're in a hurry, there's no way to pay faster without incurring a fee. (We'll get to that later.) Once your second payment has cleared, then they'll schedule the fence installation. The final payment is due after the whole fence is installed. The whole process took about 8 weeks. But we had Hurricane Sandy in there, plus some rain days, so I'm not sure how much that slowed things down.
About that fee: They charge 3% extra if you want to pay by credit card. I know that a lot of companies will write that into your price if you pay that way, but this is the first time I've seen it actually written on the contract: and quot;Price to be 3% more if credit card used for ANY payment.and quot; I'm not sure if that's even legal. Maybe it is. Anyway, we got around it by using checks supplied by the credit card company. They only charged us 1% to use them, so I saved 2% and still have the flexibility to make payments.
Overall, Michigan Fence was good to work with and I'm very pleased with the fence they put up.
