I had a small job for 30 ft. of fence for walk-up basement steps. The job was quoted May 26 w/ 6-8 wks for installation & I agreed that day w 50% deposit. The fence was finally installed on September 26, week 18! The so-called project manager, John Q., who I now understand has been terminated, was horrible to deal with, kept making vague promises, never took to heart anything I said. When I mentioned canceling the order after week 10 I was told they would keep 30%. I reached out to the two owners, Henri Demil & Brandon Lewis, they never acknowledged or answered me - they were absentee landlords. No way to run a business.

Outstanding! Manager John Q was right there with job , all the way through ! From the very start with Rebicca taken the measurements and giving the free estimate , till the end of job was excellent. The crew leader and installer Joseph Wolvin and I don't have the name for other installer who should be a crew leader , we're both very professional , on time and kept a clean site!! Did a magnificent job . Very satisfied!!

Initially very responsive and flexible. The sales person was extremely friendly and honest. Listened to my needs and suggested options. Was not pushy but offered an estimate that was a little lower than the actual cost. When I decided to purchase the fence, he was responsive and thorough. The installation took a little longer than estimated, originally quoted at 2 1/2 to 4 weeks, actually took 6 weeks. However, they did a great job. I came home and the fence was up and looked great. I would definitely use them again.

Very slow in their response time, not good communication. Owner had left during work and new one came in, so this could have been the cause of the poor communication. Once they did show up to do the work, they were very quick with their work. Was not real happy with the customer service there.

I got a quote from Michigan Fence in Late August. They didn't start the job until mid October. When I called the office they were rude and unhelpful. I will never recommend Michigan Fence to anyone who may be in need of one. It's a shame because I'm happy with the final product..

The installers were professional, prompt, and answered all of our questions and concerns. The entire job was completed in 3 days. We were warned by the salesman that the installers don't remove the dirt left behind after digging the posts, so it wasn't a surprise that we had some work of our own to do after the job was complete. Our only disappointment was the installation of the metal gate, which wasn't quite as long as our previous gate. But, they were responsive to our concerns and the installers seemed genuinely interested in making sure we were happy. They let the home office know and a few weeks later a couple of other installers came out with a new gate and completed the job to our satisfaction. Overall we are satisfied with our experience, and time will tell if the fencing was a good choice and worth the money.

I was very pleased with the quality of the materials. The white cedar posts that they used were much larger and sturdier than the ones they replaced. And they set the posts in plenty of concrete, which is important in Michigan. The fencing materials, too, were very sturdy, much thicker than the stuff that was replaced. It took them about a half day to pull out all the old materials, dig the new post holes and cement in the new posts. Then they measured the distance between the posts. They built the sections off-site, which was nice, as we didn't have to worry about stray nails. (We have an in-ground pool and lots of kids playing in our yard.) They installed the fence part in about a half day. My only work consisted of getting rid of the extra dirt from digging the holes. (I assume they'd move it if asked, but I can do that kind of work myself if it saves a few bucks.)
My only complaint would be about their weird payment system. They ask for a third up front, like many companies. Then, after they install the posts, you need to send the next third, or they won't come out. However, if you're in a hurry, there's no way to pay faster without incurring a fee. (We'll get to that later.) Once your second payment has cleared, then they'll schedule the fence installation. The final payment is due after the whole fence is installed. The whole process took about 8 weeks. But we had Hurricane Sandy in there, plus some rain days, so I'm not sure how much that slowed things down.
About that fee: They charge 3% extra if you want to pay by credit card. I know that a lot of companies will write that into your price if you pay that way, but this is the first time I've seen it actually written on the contract: and quot;Price to be 3% more if credit card used for ANY payment.and quot; I'm not sure if that's even legal. Maybe it is. Anyway, we got around it by using checks supplied by the credit card company. They only charged us 1% to use them, so I saved 2% and still have the flexibility to make payments.
Overall, Michigan Fence was good to work with and I'm very pleased with the fence they put up.

My experience with Michigan Fence Company was pretty good. The only drawback was that it took them a month to get the material for the fence to be put in. I have three dogs so the delay in the installation was inconvenient. They did not call me up or did not keep me informed about their plan of action. I called them up several times and even left my name and number but they never called me back. This went on for a week. I had to finally tell them that I would cancel the job if no one showed up. They came and finished the work after that. I do feel that fence actually looks better than every where else I have looked. Their price was competitive too. Also, the pieces of wood that I got were thicker in comparison to other places I have seen. The ones they used for us were sturdier and will definitely last longer. They even fabricated our driveway. The distance between my fence and my neighbor's fence was only three foot but they managed to put up the fence in that limited space. They did a great job on it. They don't subcontract their work out which was one of the reasons why I chose them. I would recommend them. However, I noticed that one of their crew members was chewing tobacco and spitting on my backyard. They didn't even clean it up so; one would have to watch out for such behaviors.
