Charest Heating & Cooling

After having the gas company come out and confirm that the furnace was slowly leaking gas from around the gas valve, we called Charest Heating & Cooling around 9:30pm on a Saturday night. They were very prompt in their response time to our house and their emergency after hours fee was reasonable and very competitive. The technician Josh was very polite and professional. He quickly confirmed that the gas valve needed to be replaced and provided me a quote for the job, not just an hourly fee like many other companies would have charged. It took a some time and travel for Josh to get the right valve for the job which was completely understandable that late on a weekend night. Once the part was in hand, the job was completed quickly. Josh remained very friendly and professional the entire time despite the late hour by the time the job was finished. We were very impressed with the availability, promptness and professionalism and we will definitely use again.

We have been using Charest Heating and Cooling for several years and have been very satisfied with their service. Most recently, they responded very quickly to our malfunctioning A/C and spent considerable time diagnosing the problem. When they determined that the A/C needed to be replaced (no surprise, it was 17 years old), they waived the fee for that service call and gave us a good deal on a new air conditioner. They arrived on time to install it, worked hard and efficiently, cleaned up perfectly after themselves,and provided recommendations on care and maintenance. The new unit cools the house more evenly and is much more efficient than our old unit. Special kudos to Josh, who is very hard-working and answered all my questions with patience and clarity.

Josh and the team at Charest was great. We moved about a month ago and suddenly found that our AC went out and we weren't sure what to do. I searched on both Angie's list and Yelp to find a 24/7 service provider. I picked Charest because you call (I called at 9pm on a Sunday night) and speak to a real person who works for the company vs a generic answering service or machine. The person I spoke with to schedule the visit was reassuring and able to give me a rough price estimate over the phone. I slept better that night because he was able to tell me it was probably no big deal and could be fixed w/in minutes. The next day Josh was at our house to diagnose and repair. He was friendly, helpful, and professional. We are new to home ownership having lived in condo/apartments up until now. He was very thoughtful in helping educate us on our AC unit. He had it cleaned and up and runinng quickly. Unfortunately, it turned out that we also had a bad circuit that we didn't realize. After picking his child up from Daycare he returned to our home to replace the circuit and stuck around for about 30 minutes to make sure it didn't shut off again. I would definitely call the team at Charest again and plan on using them for annual maintenance on our furnace and AC.

Mike (owner) and Josh (installer) are both really great and they're very responsive.  Josh is great at explaining every detail as he works and after he's done.

Punctional, courteous, professional, explained what they were doing and what kind of system we have. Found an extra fuse box which was the problem...just a bad fuse.

We called Charest early in the morning, they indicated they would be out by noon.  Received a phone call saying they would be at our house at 10am and they were very prompt.  They were concerned since it was so cold and we had a no heat situation.  Upon arrival they performed a through diagnostic evaluation and determined that the circuit board was defective.  They gave the option of repair or if we choose a new furnace.  They did have the part on board the truck and shortly there after heat returned.  The following event showed us we had made a great choice in a heating  contractor.  The igniter was showing evidence of wear and would likely fail soon, and instead of leaving knowing that we would be calling soon for another service call $$, they replaced the igniter for minimal cost.  They even took a coupon!  When we need to replace the system in the next few years we will be calling Charest!

It was the fastest service call I've ever had! I called to verify that the technician could do the repair. He arrived at my house about an hour after I called. The repair took about 15 minutes. He even waited to make sure my furnace was running properly before he left. The technician was very friendly and professional. It was great!!!

This company told us what needed doing, when it would be done and did everything they said they would do.
I am calling them now to check our systems for the forthcoming winter 2014.

I called Charest with a non-emergency appointment, and now it's working.  They were on time for the appointment, had the problem diagnosed and fixed in under an hour.  Job well done.  A few fuses and a capacitor were replaced and that sweet smell of stale heat is running through the house now.  Since the current furnace is running at terrible efficiency a few newer more efficient models were suggested through a no-pressure approach.  Very professional staff and company, and I'll be returning for a new furnace come wintertime and telling everyone who needs heating and cooling services about Charest.

Install was great.  The guys doing the install were very professional.  I had one issue after the install and the response and fix was near instant.  Very highly recommended.

Both times I've contacted Charest they were able to send someone out to my home within a day or two.  The servicemen were very knowledgable and the work was performed within the price quote provided.  Josh installed my air purifier and he instructed me on the system, showed me how to change the filter and cleaned up the work area after finishing.  He was about an hour late for our appt. Not having heard from anyone when I contacted the office they assured me he was on his way but had been caught in traffic..no biggy as long as I was on the schedule. I now consider Charest "my heating and cooling guys"!

The company responded to my email quickly, arrived one time was very professional and did a good job while showing knowledge and answering all of my questions. Very well done.

They service man came quicker than expected. Replace my ignitor switch quickly and was able to get my furnace up and runnung. He also took a look around for any future heating and cooling issues I might have.

I iniatally called for a service call, the AC would not go on. Mr Charest came out the same day [Monday 6/24/13]. He went above and beyond trying to get the unit to work. It was very hot and humid, he was trying to get a temporary fix for my sake, until unit could be replaced, after replacing the dual capcitator [?] he added a booster, then he tried 2 capacitators. No luck. since my furnace was 25 yrs old and not energy efficient, I decided to go ahead and replace that at the same time.He offered a fair price and scheduled the installation for wednesday. the appt was scheduled for 9AM, they were very prompt and worked for 8hrs, in very warm conditions, and both were very kind, very professional, very informative. They like to teach how to maintain the equipment and how to use it. I was very impressed and very comfortable having them in my home. I would definitely call them again, and I would recomend them.

I had time constraints so we set up an early install. Everyone arrived on time went right to work and the A/C was running by early afternoon.

I called them early in the morning and a technician was at my house by 1030. Very fast service. Tech was very knowledgeable and quickly found the problem. He had the repair parts on his truck and had my furnace up and running again in no time.
I am very satisfied with the service and cost. I will not hesitate to call them again.

I called Charest Heating & Cooling for an estimate on a new furnace and air conditioner.  Josh came to my house the same day I called and went over everything in detail.  This was the fourth estimate that I got and I hired Charest to do the job on the spot.  The price was very fair especially considering the quality of the products that they use.  Three days later they installed my new furnace and air conditioner.  They were prompt, professional and they showed me everything when they completed the installation.  They cleaned everything up when they were finished an everything went very smoothly.  I would recommend them to anyone in need of heating & cooling repair or replacement.

Mike the owner said they'd get there in 2 hours and he got here in a little more than an hour. My blower motor went out due to bad windings and it was 15 degrees outside, so I needed quick service. Luckily mike had the right blower motor in his vehicle. He did the whole job in an hour tops. $59.95 service call and the 1/2 hp motor was $424.38. I'm happy with the service. Left used motor in garage.

IF this is the same Charest that is also in Farmington Hills, the owner came to our home the same day we called him - our AC went out over the Labor Day weekend. We called the next day. He figured out what the problem was in less than 15 minutes, and had the necessary part with him to fix it immediately. He then cleaned the unit. He also inspected the system at my request, and gave me some recommendations to improve the cooling of my 2-story house in the future. He also recommended a humidifier for our heating system to help with winter dryness, and gave us a quote. We will be having that done in the future.

went well....arrival was on time and the staff stayed throughout until the job was completed.  They did have to run new electrical,  remove old AC unit along with all the copper tubing that went with it.  Even left us all the copper scrap and items to bring to a scrap yard for an extra $75 in our pockets...

I had them out to inspect both furnaces in a 2-family house I just bought in Hazel Park. They also installed a new thermostat for the upstairs furnace as it was missing. Josh was great-very knowledgable and explained how everything works (this is my first house). He was right on time and called on his way over to make sure I was home and the whole process took about an hour. They do 24 hour emergency service which was a big factor in why I chose them-if something goes wrong i want to be able to have someone come out right away!
