Aspen Tree Svc

Aspen Tree Svc came out to give an estimate for the work and scheduled the work out a few weeks because they had a backlog of work for storm cleanup that had higher priority due to damage to buildings. Once the higher priority work was done, Rob and a crew of 3 came with all the necessary equipment. They completed the job in less than 3 hours with minimal damage to the yard, considering the heavy equipment that was needed to do the job. This is the second time we've engaged Aspen Tree Svc for work and we intend to hire them again for less critical work during a slow time for them. We are extremely pleased with all aspects of their service.

Workmanship was great. Salesman assured us that we could use charge card but had to write check. This caused unexpected financial hardship.

They were polite, cooperative, and efficient. The supervisor double checked with me while the job was in progress, and afterward, to ensure my satisfaction.

In early July, strong straight-line winds during a storm caused several major trunk and branches of a maple tree to fall and lodge in a nearby river birch tree.  I reviewed Angie's List and talked to friends and relatives about tree services in the area.  I selected 3 from Angie's List to call and this one that was recommended by relatives.
I called all four.  One, located in Saginaw that stated they serviced all of Michigan, told me they don't service my city (less than 30 miles away from Saginaw.)  The other three said they would come provide an estimate but that it could take a week to 10 days for them to get out to do so, because there was a lot of storm damage all over the county. 
After 2 weeks, I called the three again because none had come out yet.  Within 2 days of the second call, two came out to give an estimate.  I asked for two separate estimates - one to remove the fallen branches and clean up, the other to remove the entire tree and clean-up.  The estimates I received were:

I chose Aspen Tree Service.  On July 27th, they came and removed the branches.  They took the wood because I didn't want it. The weight of the branches on the river birch had caused one of the trunks to arc over my neighbor's yard.  While the work was being done, my neighbor came out and talked to the service and told them that he "could not have that hanging over his yard".  The owner, Rob Brown, came to me to tell me and my husband went to talk to the neighbor.  Even though Rob and we felt that the river birch trunk might stand back up since it was not broken, we ended up capitulating and had that branch cut out.  Rob did not charge any extra for doing that.  He also went to my back yard with a chainsaw and cut up some other downed branches that were too heavy to haul as is to a burn pile - again, at no additional charge.
The work was done efficiently and I was very satisfied with what they did for the price.
