We provide start to finish construction and management of your project. We are proud to say that majority of our remodeling and building work comes from referrals and repeat clients. M.J. Whelan offers a wide range of services from custom designs, new homes and whole house renovations and additions. The key to our success is listening to what our clients’ dreams and goals are. We work closely with you to interpret your vision to create a custom design to suit your family's lifestyle …elegant, great rooms, spacious gourmet kitchens, luxurious master suites and open living spaces. We also specialize in architectural woodworking and cabinetry to create a custom look for your home. We are absolutely delighted with the kitchen that MJWhelan created for us, and equally importantly, we found them creative as designers and professional in their execution of the project. Greg J was our project manager, and under his management they kept to their completion time projection and stayed within budget. There was no concern or question that they did not address appropriately and promptly, and the team was accessible and available throughout the construction—I do not think that an email or phone call from one of us was not addressed within the hour. I could not recommend a builder more highly than I do MJWhelan.

Hiring M.J. Whelan was the best decision we could have made. We got quotes from 4 different companies. M.J. Whelan was in the middle of the pack and we chose them because we had confidence in them. We are very picky about fit and finish and needed a company we felt had the skills to work to our standards. We chose correctly. My bathroom is amazing and the craftsmanship flawless. Everyone was polite and professional. They didn't cut corners. Cleaned up at the end of the day. Just a wonderful experience. We did go over budget. We chose finishes that were above our original estimate, marble versus porcelain tile, pantry cabinet versus a closet, multiple shower heads, upgraded glass hardware, etc. All of our cost overruns are directly attributed to our choices and were clearly discussed before proceeding. We love our new bathroom. We are very confident in the quality of the construction and would do it all over again. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them for any future projects.

They were recommended by people in the community here that I live. So, that was my primary reason I went with them. They have a good reputation. The quality of work is very good. What stood out was the fact that he was organized. There was never any loss. There were people every day for four months. It was not like people would show up then they would not show up for a week or anything like that. He was my general contractor so he kept the work flow going. They used good quality products. The contractors were very courteous. He warranted all his work. Those were the main things I like about him. He was a little on the high side, but I look at it as you get what you pay for situation.

first impression was good - Matt Whelan pushed hard for the business. But during the process, it continued to get worse. In the end, had many cost overruns, poor workmanship and questionable ethics. Highly recommend not to use this builder.  Follow up after the job was non-existent.
