Landscape Magic

After ten months only 25% of the 12 steps remain level and only 25% maintained there forward pitch. Some sloped left, and others right. The steps that weren't level averaged a 2" slope, one has a 3" slope. One step is broken completely in half and 4 other steps are showing a similar progression. Visible gaps up to 2.25" are very noticeable on many step. I lifted up the top step and saw only dirt and no evidence of any stone base. I dug one foot underneath the bottom step and again saw no signs of any stone base.

Hands down my worst experience with contractor. Kurt started a 7 day job and after making a big mess of our yard on day 1, didnt come back for 4 weeks to finish. Planted big trees crooked. Retaining wall he installed did not retain water. Created holes in lawn where puddles formed. After much arguing came back 6 weeks later to fix many problems, and this time proceeded with his machine to tear up our yard and neighbors property. Had to hire another landscape company to clean up. During visit for a quote Kurt appeared professional. Once he received a first installment he became very unpleasant to work with.

Mr. Kilroy provided detailed sketches and costs for the yard landscaping. He was careful to take into consideration factors like deer resistance and limited sunlight for plantings, and the fact that we wanted all areas to be very low maintenance. We found him to be thoroughly knowledgeable about plants and the environment.  After he began work on the yard we realized that we wanted him to do the entrance upgrade as well. 
He was present every day that work was going on, to supervise and to answer all our questions. He was very easy to work with, and patiently explained his reasons for wanting to do something in a certain way. But when we wanted to change details he was flexible and accommodating. His style is 'hands-on', and is meticulous about his work and landscaping artistry
Most impressive was Kurt's reliability and punctuality. When he said something was going to happen, it happened. And when he said he would be here at a certain time, he was there. This mattered A LOT to us!  And he brought the entire project in at the cost he had quoted, with no surprises. A very pleasant, professional man to do business with!
