On the last day, a worker came in to put grout around the base of my fireplace where the hardwood butts up. He had two colors: vanilla and dark chocolate. Neither color matched. He put the vanilla color down and I asked him to remove it because it looked bad. I asked if he could get a matching color and he said "That's all they had". I was floored; for a $15K job you couldn't go to Home Depot and get a matching color. (My husband went to Home Depot, found the color and did the work).
After the workers left, I noticed a big gouge about the size of a silver dollar in my doorway from kitchen to livingroom and another hole punched into wall where they removed moulding. I calledl Gary and told him about the holes and he never said a word. It was estimated it would take $100 to fill, sand and paint two holes. I deducted the $100 from my bill and sent in a check. Gary called and wanted his $100. Ok I said. Will never do business with you again. Went to AT Frank and ordered my area rugs.
I was disappointed in the service. I am looking at the big picture and felt that Everett could care less after they have your money.
UPDATE: September 4, 2013
Tom Everett called and offered an apology for the way this situation was handled. He found out about it only after Angies List contacted the Company. I felt he was very sincere and offered $200 for the damage. I told him to send it to a local nonprofit in my name. It wasn't about the money!!!
"We wanted a chance to talk to [member name removed] before responding and have had a productive conversation with her. I contacted [member name removed] to talk about the complaint. In this conversation, I discussed the various issues brought up in her complaint. She is extremely satisfied with the installation of the hardwood. Her husband, a woodworker himself, was also very happy with the installation. She was upset about issues mentioned above and the re-bill for the $100. We apologized for not crediting her account for the short payment. Unfortunately, the information was not relayed to the proper people, thus the misunderstanding. We have reviewed this breakdown in service with our employees to ensure this doesn’t happen again. We offered to return $200 to her for our miscommunication and misunderstanding. She said that was unnecessary, but we could donate the money to a local charity. She chose the Reese Endeavor of Midland and we sent the $200 to the foundation in Linda’s name. Thank you [member name removed] for the opportunity to resolve this matter with you! -Tom"
This is the third time we have used Everett Carpet (twice for carpet and once for a vinyl floor) and we are extremely happy with the work they have done. In fact, we are consulting with them right now to try to find a carpet design for our master bedroom.
