To Whom It May Concern,
Progressive terminated my policy on 06-02-2015 and then emailed me on 06-04-2015 at 12:50AM to tell me my insurance policy had been canceled.
I told them I would like to turn it back on, and I could make a partial payment as I have been without a paycheck for 6 months but have recently found work and I am weeks away from my first paycheck.
Progressive Agent and Supervisor told me that they have to collect in full before any policy could be UN-cancelled.
SO, it told them, that although my calling to make a good faith partial payment, they all told me it was insufficient to continue to do business unless I could make an exorbitant payment (more than home or car payments!) and kept telling me that "their system" this and "their computers do not allow" that.
 
It was like talking to a group of people on the phone who are powerless to help a customer.
The "supervisor" told me that unless I wanted to pay the many hundreds of dollars over my regular monthly payment (which I literally cannot do financially) that they would not even turn on legal state minimum coverage on my two cars.
So told and repeated to the supervisor, "you are telling me that you do not want my business or my money unless it is the terrifically huge bulk payment to reinstate my auto policy?" Yes Sir that is correct.
I asked it they wanted my business?
I asked what my "Platinum Membership" status they proudly printed on all of my forms really meant and what it qualified me for?
Nothing apparently.
I realize I had fallen behind in full payments, however, denying ANY business with me was they solution.
I asked to create a new state minimum policy with the lesser money ($200-$300) I have on hand today for only one car so I could legally drive to work tomorrow or if I could pay by the day.
They said no, absolutely not.
Unbelievable.
I asked them therefore as they do not want to work with me to both take a partial payment and continue my business with them, which of their competitors do they recommended I get new minimum insurance with to be legal with my one car?
No answer.... <crickets chirping>
Apparently, HAD I OF RECEIVED THE CANCELLATION EMAIL ***BEFORE*** CANCELLATION, THEY WOULD HAVE TAKEN A PARTIAL PAYMENT!!!  But now, they refused to do so.
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
They are Robots and have zero powers to help customers.
I now understand why Moslems consider Insurance to both be a form of Usury and Gambling, and therefore against their religion... something really to that.
I am not simply posting a negative review because I got myself in a tough spot financially, I admit some fault, but the email notice After the fact ( and with NO email notice before when I could have made a partial payment) cannot be on accident.
Clearly their $$$ budgets are spent on blitzkrieg television marketing budgets with "flo" and NOT $$$ spent on good customer service or on empowering their supervisors with the ability to retain and work with "platinum membership" customers of many many years...
I will call Angie's List for NEW Auto Insurance company recommendations first thing in the morning.

I picked Progressive almost 5 years ago when I first bought my car. I currently pay $574 for 6 months which is hundreds lower than any other insurance in the area! I get almost $100 off just for paying a 6 month lump sum instead of monthly. There is a discount for everything. Also, my rates have gone down considerably over the last 5 years. When I call, someone is on the line relatively quickly without having to dial a million digits until I get a human contact. Of note, I have not had any accidents though. They did completely cover my windshield repair with no out of pocket cost. I've been recommending them to my dad because they are so affordable but he is so stubborn he won't even call.... his loss!!! I am a total cheapskate so every year I shop around to see if anyone else has more affordable rates but Progressive so far has been the best deal bar none. I highly recommend!

It went very well. I logged on to the site and make changes. The quote was accurate. The payment was processed promptly.

I am still in disagreement with insurance carrier regarding services that had not been provided, yet I am being billed for.

I have had auto insurance coverage from Progressive for years over a decade. They consistently provide discounts such as a multi-car policy, for airbags and car alarm. They also lower my rates periodically due to being a long term customer. If I contact them, they are responsive and professional. After being in accidents, they did not increase my rates.
Originally when I found them, they were the only car insurance co. I could find that I could afford. Believe me, I looked everywhere to compare. It was a long time ago and I'd been in a major accident. The company I had originally raised my rates to over $1,000/mo. So Progressive saved me.
I have 2 cars (my hubby and myself) and great coverage that I trust for less than $70/mo. I really like them and recommend them to others all of the time. When I've priced around in the last few years, I've always been told to stay with Progressive. No other reputable company could and quot;come closeand quot; to what I pay for the coverage I want. Enough said?

they treat me with respect and answer my questions in a non-canned way. I feel like they are human.

Happy with Progressive's action, calling back and checking in with us. We went with them because of their ad - they said they had good rates. And we called and they did. We were happy with their rates. In using them, we are happy with their promptness, they got back with us, the towing was quick, they had a man over to us quickly to tow us. Everything. They got back - they followed up. They kept in touch with us and keeping up with us on progress at the shop. The people were very pleasant. I would refer them.
