Called A.R.M.S., Inc. to get a replacement unit since the exhaust fan failed again (it's the fourth in 7 years, by the way)! The original quote says "Fan warranty is 7 years"
Two weeks ago the fan broke down again. I called Mr. Phil Noack and his first question was how long ago it was installed (it's 3 weeks short of 7 years). He immediately started giving me prices for a new fan and installation, because the fan is "only warranted for 5 years", said him.
I told him that the papers I have say 7 years, he restated that the warranty is only 5 years. I told him I was going to check the papers again and hung up. The next day I faxed him a copy of the invoice and quotation which showed 7 years. I called two days later and he then told me he was out of town, only coming back "next week". I called a week later and he told me that he was still "out of town".
Afraid he was trying to let the warranty expire then tell me I never called before, I followed up with a certified letter. The next day I got a phone call from him saying that even though the actual installation happened "beyond the quotation 30-day expiration time frame" he was going to send me a replacement fan. The invoice is 32 days after the quotation!!! (no mention on the invoice that the "7 year" didn't apply anymore...)
To my surprise, the next day I receive a 2-1/2-year old, dirty, used fan!
You can imagine I didn't bother installing this "replacement" fan and bought a new one from another source.
I don't recommend using the service of a tricky business like this.
