We have used Swick for many years and have been very satisfied with the quality of their work. The service provider, Dean Larson, was highly skilled and knowledgeable in both plumbing and carpentry. He clearly has a wide and deep base of experience from which he could draw to give us options to consider in addressing a plumbing problem we had. It is also a relief to feel comfortable knowing you can trust a worker in your home unsupervised when you have someplace you have to be. Based upon our experience over many years, I highly recommend Swick.

I called Swicks. They got right on it. Finished up what the original installer didn't do, diagnosed other problems, and fixed them. Very prompt service, very friendly and personable guys. They're not cheap, but better than the first guy. And what plumber--other than yourself or your brother-in-law--is a bargain. We'll keep using them til they let us down, which doesn't seem likely.

Absolutely awful service which ultimately led to me having to waste hours of my time filing complaints against them. I had heard awful things about them in the past and they were sent here by Homeserve which is a heating system insurance for repairs that I have through Semco. Were out at my house numerous times because their 'master techinicians' could not figure out what was wrong with my furnace. Failed to show up on two occasions when someone was sitting here waiting for them all day, called at 4 and said they wouldn't be coming and didn't even apologize. Did not run anything by me before hand, simply did it and told me later. Charged $294 for 20 minutes of work, no parts. That was just one of over $1500 in bills from them. All was a waste because it didn't fix the problem. The best was when they sent someone here to 'make things right, free of charge' and then sent a $263 bill for that free service call. Blocked my boyfriend in the driveway for 20 minutes while they sat in their van and he sat in his truck, with it running, waiting for them to get out of the way. Technician told me to call the furnace manufacturer so they could tell me what was wrong with it. I told the technician what was wrong with the furnace, isn't it supposed to be the other way around? Avoid this circus, take your business to the competent instead. Trudell does good work.

Never, Never call them. And never except any kind of estimate or bid. because that is exactly what the charge will be. and you can not get a bill of time and materials that were used. And they did tell me that it was 2,700 but when they only worked 10 hours you don't expect a bill that high. I just thought it was an estimate.

"[member name removed], I have looked at your project and understand that you have been in contact with our Service Manager Willard to work on a solution. I see that he was able to reduce your charges and that you were happy and satisfied with that result. Our estimating and billing practices are never meant to confuse customers or hide anything. Quite a bit goes in to creating a price for a larger project – one that we stick to even if we underestimate charges for the work a customer wants done. This way our customers know that the price we give them is the one we will bill them. A happy customer is always a must for us and I do hope that that is the case here. If you have any other questions or need anything else, please feel free to contact me directly. Terri, Marketing Manager – Swick Home Services 906-228-3400"

It was a horrible experience. We went without hot water for four days. They charged us 1000.00 to
In stall a gas valve. They left and there are wires hanging out because he never put the hot water tank back
Together. I would never allow Swick into my home again. Poor service and the service manager Adam was horribly
Rude!
Response from Swick Home Services
"Dear [Member Name Removed], I am so sorry that your experience with us felt less than professional. It is always a stressful situation to not have hot water for more than a short amount of time. Calling for service on a weekend is also never fun. I have reviewed your work order and see that you are actually a Home Serve USA customer through your Natural gas provider Semco. We in turn are a service provider through them. By paying a monthly fee with Home Serve, you have the confidence that when a repair is needed, it will be covered through them. To clarify, after the proper diagnosis was made, your water heater was repaired and the total charge was $280.00 which was covered by Home Serve USA. As I understand it, you had no out of pocket expense. In speaking with our Call Center Manager, and Dispatcher, I have come to understand that we indeed made an error on our part by ordering a part that was not part of your issue. It was an honest mistake, but a mistake none- the-less and we apologize. We did follow up by making the correct repair and you were never charged for unnecessary work. Since being sold, there has been no change in our warehouse inventory levels. Unfortunately, we just cannot stock all the parts for every water heater. We did drive to Iron Mountain to get the part to make your repair. Sometimes, we have to wait for them to come in to complete our work. We did complete the repair that you needed and it is my understanding that everything is working well. Again, at Swick, it is always our goal to give a consistent level of exceptional service that exceeds expectations. I am very sorry that that was not your experience."

"Mr. [Member name]. I am happy to hear that you are pleased with the quality of product and service that you received from Swick Home Services. We do pride ourselves on providing a consistent level of exceptional service to each and every customer. If I may add, we suggest that all our customers become Gold Star customers by having a Gold Star Service contract with us, that way, an annual furnace tune-up is covered, priority scheduling and no overtime charges for emergency services. That benefit is my favorite since everything seems to go wrong on a Friday afternoon! There is also a 10% discount on all service repairs with us. Heating/cooling, plumbing or electrical. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me directly at 906-226-3400. Ask for Terri"

Swick is a very professional and dependable service provider.  The arrived promptly and did the work exactly as promised.  That's what you're going to get from Swick.  You're also going to get a pretty pricey bill.  They are expensive, but they do a great job.

I am an elderly woman that lives alone so I'm a target  to be a victim of dishonest business practices.  Just like how mechanics will prey on women for lack of knowledge about automobiles.  The first time Swick worked on a job, they quoted a price on paper prior to completing the work. After completing the work they called me and said "We quoted you the wrong price, you owe an additoinal $100." Bait and switch and a breach of verbal and written contract. The second time I was verbally quoted a price and the final price was different on paper for a specific service line item. I was also asked if I live alone which was suspect question. The work was unfinished and reported as finished. The result was my bathtub and toilet became frozen and water would not run. My son took off work to drive two hours to crawl under my trailer and take pictures of the insulation that was not put back and was laying on the ground where the T-fitting was installed. The T-fitting was two feet  from the toilet and bathtub.  Thankfully, my son replaced the insulation as the temperature dropped servery the next day. My pipes have never frozen in years prior with horrible winters and it was still mid November when this happened! We confronted Swick and at first they were not going to do anything about it, big shock. They asked us "What would you like us to do?". My son replied, "You want me to tell you how to run your business and correct an issue with a customer? Why don't you tell me what you intend to do about the issue instead?"  It's pretty hard to argue with the pictures my son provided. They were caught red-handed. They eventually offered a $133 credit in the form of check. I called 5 local plumbers and a master plumber friend of mine. All of them were appalled at what they charged for just installing T-Fitting. Swick is known among local plumbers as "the scum of plumbing services"  I will never use Swick ever again.  You've been warned!

"[member name rmeoved] It is always our goal to provide exceptional service and it is always hard to hear when it appears that we haven't. I have looked into your job and our records indicate a $264 refund to you - it is never our intent to make mistakes and while it does happen, we always try to make it right. I doubt that we would have been able to stay in business for over 40 years if we didn't."

The team showed up on time and were very proficient in their work and kind to make sure they did not track in snow from the outside. They removed an old toilet and replaced it with a new toilet (toilet was purchased separately from a different store that we already had).

We discovered that our sewer was backing up into our basement on a Saturday morning.  Since our basement is 3/4 finished, time was of the essence.  The sewer had not yet reached the finished/carpeted part of the basement and we did not want it to.  We called Swick and they were able to get a service technician to our house within 45 minutes (we live in Ishpeming).  The technician was efficient, professional, and courteous.  The total cost came in under bid.  I was happy with the fact that he put foot covers over his boots whenever he walked to/from the basement area so as not to dirty our new carpet and the travelway.  He also put similar covers on the machine he used so that he did not track septic residue throughout my house.  I would definatey call Swick again and have scheduled an appointment for them to come out and service my furnace (Gold Star Plan).
