He finished painting our house and trim within 3 or 4 days. Perfect job. This is the second time we've had him paint for us. We'll always call him first.

We had it in two tone, which is h****** wood, but he was amazing. His people are right on time, even when it was so busy in the summer. They were right there, on time on the right day.

The experience and the end result were TERRIBLE. In our first meeting, the painter/owner appeared to exhibit solid values. He gave us reason to believe that he and his helper would provide attention to detail, quality workmanship and high customer satisfaction standards. Exactly what we sought! Boy, did he over promise and under deliver! We were taken and badly. We were so dissatisfied that after the paint had sufficient time to dry, we asked another experienced painter to evaluate the jobs Manchester Custom Painting (MCP) performed for us. The second painter was appalled. As examples: He could not believe 1) how poorly the bathroom ceiling had been cut in; 2) that MCP charged us the price estimated for REPAIRING AND REPAINTING a section of our bathroom ceiling, when NO repair work was necessary or performed; 3) that MCP did not remove or cut in around such things as the garage door eye beam brackets - instead they chose to leave jagged borders of original paint, which is a different color than the new, around such items; 4) the attic door was painted without opening it so that an inch-wide frame of old paint remains around the new; and 5) all of the work areas were left uncleaned and our belongings in the garage were left in a heap and not returned to their rightful places. Paint coverage in many areas of the garage is noticeably thin. After the paint dried, it was evident that areas that were to be repaired had not. We gave the painter/owner of MCP an opportunity to correct what was not done properly the first time. We kindly identified the areas with which we were dissatisfied. He became defensive after we identified the first item, and started to argue. We asked him to kindly listen first, then, work with us to find a solution. After the fifth or six item, MCP's owner let loose with a barrage of insults and argumentative statements. We were shocked and attempted to calm him. He tried to apply multiple manipulative tactics to avoid taking any responsibility for the poor quality of workmanship. The closest thing to an admission we received was his comment, "This is just a garage." This statement is telling that, at some level, he knew the job had not been done properly. We pointed out that we had paid him as much to paint the garage as he had estimated to paint our living room. We said that the poor quality of workmanship had nothing to do with location. The owner of MCP became increasingly belligerent in his attitude and comments. When we held firm to the fact that a solution needed to be found, he stormed off and said, "I'm done." And climbed into his truck and drove away. We have experience working with different types of contractors and have typically had wonderful interactions with those who have done work for us. We've never, ever experienced any level of service or workmanship as low as this.

"I am not going to put myself or my company at the same level as this member. She is clearly a person that tries to take advantage of people and does this by trying to manipulate the system by writing false and inaccurate information. I had a bad feeling about working for her (she is the only person that was residing at this residence - I didn't see any "we" or "us" the four times I was there). I actually had called her to see if we could come a day early. Her exact words was that it was a grave inconvenience to her and that I had her over a barrel and that she didn't have a choice. She clearly had a choice. I am just going to let my other reports speak for themselves. Manchester Painting has been very successful by simply using word of mouth to build and maintain a painting company that customers keep calling back. Angie's List is the only form of advertising that I pay for. Most of the calls that I receive from this service are from customers that are new to the area and don't know anyone to ask for a referral from. This is a great service for these clients. Most all other clients ask their friends, family, coworkers etc, for referrals. This member had claimed that she has used hundreds of contractors. I know a lot of painters in the Ann Arbor area and will be spreading the work to watch out for this one. If you were not happy with the work than I guess you shouldn't have wrote me a check. Looks like new. Job done in two days. Covered newly installed floor completely with tarps, vacuumed after sanding and left everything clean and neat. Professional, friendly and accommodating. This is the second time we have hired this company and will call upon them again. Very satisfied!

It went great, they showed up right on time. Rick had called the night before to confirm the time we should expect him. They were friendly and got started right away. The first day they worked late and we left them in the house while we went to work. Day two was started with a family emergency so we would not be present all day. They were very accommodating, finished the job and left the place very clean.

The company did an excellent job! The owner gave us an estimate right away and completed all of the work listed on the estimate and then some. He stayed in regular communication with us and was willing to work around our schedule. The company even showed up to begin work ahead of schedule. We're very pleased and highly recommend this company.

The crew arrived on time, covered floors and exposed areas with canvas, had spot lights to enhance visibility, and worked quietly and efficiently. They offered to return if anything was found to be amiss or to redo caulking if needed. They were polite, efficient, and tidy. They brought all supplies they needed with them.
