A S Rivard & Son

Be EXTREMELY CAUTIOUS when doing business with A.S. Rivard! Wish I didn’t have to write this but their unprofessionalism has forced me to warn others. It is unfortunate they don’t seem to have any respect for their customers. Our well pump broke, we had Anthony from a.s. Rivard come out to look at it. He informed us that our pump and pressure tank were both broken, and it would be about $4,000 to fix it. I was ready to put the charge on a credit card, but Anthony convinces me if I pay with a check he will cut me a deal because he has his own personal equipment he would sell me for cheaper. I couldn’t get the cash for a few more days, but money is tight so I figured it is worth being without water to save a couple hundred bucks. Turns out I was wrong. Anthony informs me that we may need more help to do the repair and it will save us some money, so I have my girlfriend stay home to help. When he shows up to do the repair, he doesn’t have his company truck or much equipment. He says that we should be able to lift the pump out of the deep well by hand, so we screw a handle on it and all start lifting. We are not weak people, we can easily lift a couple hundred pounds but this pump would not budge. We eventually get it up a few inches and try to hold it there without crushing our fingers. Eventually we realize it is too heavy, so Anthony asks if we have another friend we can call over to help. I don’t know anyone in the area nor am I interested in making a friend do hard labor. So Anthony assured us he will get this taken care of and leaves to get some equipment. He comes back several hours later in his company truck that has a crane on the back of it, and we easily remove the pump that was over 250 feet deep (I don’t know how he thought we could take it out by hand). The whole time my girlfriend and I are helping, standing outside in the snow. When it came time to plumb together our tank, Anthony realized he is missing the parts he needed, so I offered to go to the hardware store and get them. I come back with $50 worth of parts and we finish the repair. When it comes time to pay, Anthony tells me to make out a check for an even $4,000. I was confused because he said we would be saving money by waiting and helping. I asked if that was with the deal he was cutting us and he said yes. I didn’t want to argue with him because it was a stressful day, so I figured he would have a receipt that would break down the costs. Of course, he forgot the receipt and said he would email it to me the next day. A week goes by and Anthony says he has it ready and he will send it soon. I am patient with him but now it has been over three months and no one from the company will respond to me. I really need some sort of documentation for my taxes so it’s not like I just gave someone 4k cash for no service. The best I can do now is warn others about their unprofessionalism in completing a transaction and their prices that seem to be made up, so be careful!!
