It went well
A class act a very knowledgeable technician would recommend Adam to anyone I know .
Brett C. must have had some other plans for the evening and wanted to get off of work early. Or Brett C., did not literally know what he was doing?
We have a Sony 50" SXRD Projection TV, that is SRS BBE Digital, Dolby Digital and HDMI and Energy Star. We have a Sony DVD Home Theatre System: DVD Video, Compact Disc Digital Video, Compact Disc Digital Audio-Text, Super Audio CD, MPS, Digital Direct Twin Drive Subwoofer, HDMI. All of which we purchased from sears as a package, we saw how Sears had set the entire display and we purchased all the same components along with the exact same Television.
We have had Geek Squad technicians out to our home to perform service calls on computers and have "always" until now found the technicians to be helpful, informative and efficient, until Wednesday: 9-23-15.
Brett C. asked my husband for the Wi-Fi password, which my husband is "not" a tech or technically inclined that was the purpose of having "Geek Squad" out. My husband did not know who to get the code and did know what Brett C. was talking about. My husband did advise Brett C., where the computers (not a lap tops) were in the house, one on the main floor down the hall from the living room, in the office it has a Wi-Fi connection and an active printer. Also the main computer in the recreation room, in the basement just below the living room along with another active printer. My husband offered to show him to either computer and printers, Brett C., declined.
When I came home from work, I showed my husband who to get the report that has the password. Push the Wi-Fi icon and the printer instantly printed the report that contained the password. Brett C. told my husband that he could not connect the Gaming Unit the PlayStation 4, because the there were not enough plugs/outlets. My husband told him that he-Brett C. had his permission to remove the DVD player and we would use the PlayStation 4 to watch movies if we decided to do that. By the way we already have and X-Box 360 connected to our 72' Digital Flat screen in the recreation room.
Brett C., then told my husband that he did not have the correct cords. My husband told him that we were told that everything that we would need came in the box, but He had some cords the Brett C., stated that he needs. Then Brett C., told my husband the surround sound was out dated - Analog. I reminded my husband that we purchased the Television, surround sound and stand all together. Also that Analog and Digital "do not" go together.
I contacted Geek Squad immediately after I conversation and attempted to schedule a different technician to come out on a Saturday, when I was home. All I got was push back from Store # 410 and was placed on a "Forever" hold. I also, went on line and had long drawn out chat with Michael G7. Still with "no' satisfaction. I just again connected Store #410 and finally Joe was willing to set up another appointment. Joe told me that Agent Michael G7's supervisor told Him that "we" do not qualify for a another service call.
What type of "Customer Service is "This"??? Geek Squad, your service and technicians have really gone down in quality! I Know that I will "never" pay Geek Squad to come out to our home, again!
to explain everything he was doing. I would definitely call on him again. I am very satisfied with Best Buy. I love my new Dell computer.
Outstanding. The installers were on time, polite, efficient, and did an outstanding job.
The Geek Squad leader called me the day before the install with an ETA. Then called again two times the morning of the install with arrival timing updates.
He applied painter's tape to the wall with the proposed TV placement and reviewed this with my wife and I. He adjusted the (tape) height per our request before any tools were used. He attached the mount and behind the wall electrical connections while using a vacuum when the drill or saw was used. His work was virtually dust free.
The leader and the second Geek Squad installer carefully attached TV to the wall mount then confirmed all of the electrical/media/network connections were properly made and the color and sharpness settings were adjusted. He then confirmed the settings met our exceptions. (They did). He then described out the TV controls worked.
All installation debris, boxes and packaging material were removed and the floor and media cabinet were vacuumed.
I usually do my own installations but decided to contract this one out to the Geek Squad. I'm very glad I did.
We could not have been more pleased.
In-store, admittedly we were confused as to the difference between "home delivery" and "Geek Squad". Home delivery, as i've come to understand, means just that: the new TV is delivered to your home, and the old one is taken away. This does NOT mean that the new TV is hooked up. He even made sure we had the right coaxial cable - which we didn't - but he happened to have one on his truck, but didn't charge us extra for it, whatsoever. That's awfully nice.
Ahh - that's where the Geek Squad comes in. They do the hook-up, the programming, etc. THAT'S the service you're likely to want, especially if you're looking at getting a Smart TV or one that can run off the internet [WI-FI] in your home. The agent explained how to get the services [if you want them] which are subscription based, for either TV shows, or for companies providing movies. He also suggested which ones were free for the using. Te Agent programmed the TV, programmed the remotes, and explained how to use the various features. He also ensured that we had his direct telephone number if we had any questions or concerns during the next few weeks' learning curve.
Having had the services of the Geek Squad, and the high level of professionalism, friendliness, efficiency, knowledge, skill, and ability to explain things in easy to understand terminology ~ i'd really choose to use the Geek Squad anytime it was available. The difference is absolutely that definable. With the way technology is advance so very fast, the only thing i'd be comfortable with is perhaps, um, plugging in a toaster.
i really like the new program - i call it "bring a co-worker to work with you": seems like it would really help bridge the misinformation that a customer gets in the store when trying to determine if they should get the home delivery or Geek Squad. The supervisor from the Home Theater Department of a nearby Best Buy store accompanied the Agent and helped / worked with him all throughout the set-up. She was quite good at helping assemble the massive TV stand.
There's a whole lot more to buying a TV than just "well, it fits in my car, i'll just take it home." That what we were urged to do when making the purchase. We were concerned that we just wouldn't be able to remove/carry the older heavier TV downstairs.
Overall, it was a very educational experience for us, and quite pleasant at that. There's no way we'd have been able to even assemble the TV Stand - 2 drawers and they glide very smoothly. They put it together like pro's.
