Ugh, that's all I can say. Several months ago we decided to tear down our rotten old shed and install a new and smaller one. I created a quote online and Phil, the salesman for the Livonia location, contacted me the next day. A few days later we went to the showroom to look at the models in person and we decided to make a purchase. Phil was great to work with, and was very accommodating when I made a few changes to the order a couple of days later. As our installation date approached, I called Phil to let him know that we were making some changes to the layout of our yard and needed to push back the installation if possible. He said it wasn't a problem, and told me to call him as soon as we had the yard work done so they could reschedule the installation. On the day that our installation was originally supposed to happen (but which had been temporarily canceled), I got a call from Stef, the person in charge of scheduling installations, telling me that there was a problem and that our shed accidentally was loaded on a truck headed for some far-flung town. I told him it was okay, since we wanted to postpone the installation anyway. Apparently there was a communication breakdown between Phil and Steve. But no harm done. When we got our yard situation settled, I called to reschedule the shed installation and received a date several weeks later. I took that day off from work and expected the crew to arrive in the morning (as I was told). When the crew didn't show up first thing, I called the Tuff Shed office and left a message for Steve. No response. I called Phil. No response. I waited a while and called back, still with no one in the office. Finally, around 12:30 pm I called again and this time managed to get Steve on the phone. He checked the paperwork and said we were on the installation schedule and that I would probably receive a call in 30-60 minutes from the crew letting me know they were on their way. By 3:30, I still hadn't received a call! I contacted Steve again, who said he would get to the bottom of it and let me know. He contacted the production manager who sent a text out to the crew, but I still never received work back on what was going on. In the end, the installation didn't happen. I had wasted an entire day's vacation sitting at home waiting for a crew that never showed. I called Steve and left a message letting him know how angry I was. On Monday morning I called back to see what was going on and was told that the crew would be out to my house in the afternoon. I was already at work, so I took a half-day and headed home to wait for them. Again, nothing. By 3:00 they still hadn't arrived, so I once again called Steve. He must have finally gotten a hold of someone because I received a call at 3:45 from the installer letting me know he was on his way. The installer got there at 4:15 and a few minutes later a guy from Tuff Shed showed up with my shed. It turns out that the installer was a sub-contractor who was not scheduled to install my shed but who got the call at the last minute and took the job. The poor guy was alone and working in the heat after hours after already installing other sheds all day. By 8:00 pm he was looking downright exhausted, and he asked if it was okay if he came back the next evening to finish up. I felt terrible for him, and, trusting that he was good on his word, said I didn't mind. True to his word, he showed up the next day to complete the installation. I give the installer an A+ across the board for being hardworking and courteous. I have absolutely no fault with him, as he picked up the job at the last minute and did his absolute best. The communication within the Tuff Shed office, however, is SEVERELY LACKING!!!! I should have received a call the day before my installation letting me know approximately what time the crew would be there. Then, that day, I should have received a call letting me know when they were on their way. Problems occur, and I completely understand. But someone with some sense of customer service should have made sure that I was kept informed at all times. In the end I wasted a day and a half of valuable vacation time waiting for the shed to be installed. That is not the kind of service I expect when dropping $1700 on a product/service. The shed looks great and is very well constructed. We are very pleased with it, and it looks infinitely better than our old one. The sub-contractor installer (I believe his name is Reed, or Reid?) was fantastic, and he deserves a huge raise for the herculean task he performed. Tuff Shed itself, however, gets a big fat "F" for their customer service.
