PILLAR TO POST / PROFESSIONAL HOME INSPECTIONS

Terrible company. There HVAC inspections were total fraud and they measured the delta T after just switching on the AC systems on for 5 min. They are deal killers. They said there was mold in the house for a small stain in the ceiling from a minor leak. They said there was a small pin hole in the garage that will allow exhaust smoke into the home and a major hazard. They were totally unqualified. Emily Harden was the inspector and she was a total nightmare of a person. She put that a bush in the backyard was a hazard and that the deck was stained slightly and was going bad. Just a mess.

Team was professional. The went through all potential issues with me before leaving the site, and provided a binder with a full report upon completion. Would not hesitate to hire them again.

He did a very thorough job of the inspection. Not only did he do a detailed report with pictures for the house I bought, but while going through the basement he labeled all of the water shutoff valves for the sprinklers and hose bibs. This made blowing out the sprinklers myself very easy in the fall because I knew which valves needed to be closed and which needed to be left open.

He was really good. He's from around here. They made sure that everything was constructed appropriately and see if there's any issues that need to be addressed. They check the roof, basement, and they gave me things that I should do, like clean the gutters. He was very thorough, and gave me tips on things that I should do.

Matt and Dave Dalfino performed the inspection. We used Dave dalfino's services before for other real state transactions.
We were present during the inspection
They performed a thorough inspection of the house, showing us any issues or improvements that they considered necessary.
In our case, there was mold in the underside of the roof due to poor ventilation. The area was completely covered by insulation.
They gave us recommendations on how to proceed with the issue.
They supply a complete report with photos at the end of the inspection.
At the end of the 3 hours inspection we had a good picture of the condition of the house and we continued with the purchase.

I liked Pillar to Post so much...I hired them twice! Funny story....
So I was referred to Pillar to Post via a coworker who was pleased with the work they did on her home inspection. When my offer to purchase a home was accepted, I hired Pillar to Post to come inspect the house. Unfortunately for me, my inspectors (Matt and Dustin?) brought to my attention some issues with the home that made me uncomfortable. I withdrew my offer.
So when the right house came around I hired Pillar to Post again and they inspected the house. What I liked most about Pillar to Post was they provided many great home maintenance tips. For example, there were some ledges around my basement windows that were cracking and P2P advised me to caulk them. P2P also advised me on how to clean my furnace filter, where my gas and water shutoff valves were and how to adjust my humidifier based on the seasons. They gave countless pointers that were valuable to a new homeowner like myself.
When they were finished they gave me an impressive written report. I have shown my report to various contractors and they are impressed with the knowledge and correct use of terminology that my inspectors used. One of the issues brought up in the report was the house's roof was at the end of its useful life. I was actually able to use my written report to negotiate concessions from the seller!

Delfino's inspectors were friendly, professional, precise and on time. They provided me with a report immediately after the inspection was completed; they had a computer/ printer with them to write up the report, print it and hand it to me. In the course of the inspection they would give me feedback and information about the various areas of the house and answered any question I had for them; the information went into the report as well. They specified what they could not look at or test that would otherwise be part of a usual inspection due to some impediment (e.g. a padlock on the garage door). They also kept me informed when there was information or items they do not check in the course of an inspection that I might want to follow up on.

Dave Dalfino is the real deal . He is incredibly honest and knowledgeable about all things having to do with home inspections. I had a situation in which a tenant ordered an air quality check after discovering a leak around a bathroom window. The situation quickly blew completely out of proportion, until Dave was called in to diffuse it. He identified the species of mold that was found and made it clear to everyone that it was simply a form of mildew and just needed to be cleaned. This saved me and the tenant countless hours of stress, not to mention over a thousand dollars in unnecessary remediation expenses. I cannot recommend him enough!

I think they are a good company and I would recommend them. When I called them, the man sounded like he was an honest person which is very rare. I was very happy with their services.

At the time, the inspection went very well. The report has some errors in it but that were not detected at the time the report was provided. The inspectors (one was a trainee) missed some important items either because the senior inspector didn't follow up on the trainees work or because it never occurred to them to check further on the plumbing and therefore missed some important (and expensive) items because the water in the house had been off for 2-3 months. Because they only report on what they saw on the day of inspection, there was no relief under the contract.

Dave and his son spent 2 1/2 hours going through the house, explaining the craftsmanship, standard of practice, and what they were evaluating. They made sure we knew how everything worked, they pointed out things we would need to maintain and what the maintenance involved, and they informed us of everything we needed to have repaired. They answered all of our questions in detail and gave us resources for repair work. When they left, we had a binder which detailed their report (12 pages), set forth the limitations of what they could and could not assess, and contained a list of resources and a packet of coupons. They were very professional and thorough.

I THOUGHT THIS COMPANY WAS GREAT. THEY DID EXACTLY WHAT I HIRED THEM FOR. THEY ARE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND KNOWLEDGEABLE. THEY ARE AN EXPERIENCED COMPANY. I FELT SECURE AND WELL INFORMED. I AM VERY SATISFIED.
