One of the 65 yr old pipes carrying heated water (to heat the house) broke and water leaked into the family room. I had a plumbing company repair it (well reviewed on Angie's List). The price was set per cost of job (not per hour) and I was charged $1900.  After that repair, the plumber realized there was another leak somewhere within the system. He gave an estimated (additional) cost of $1200 - 1500.   I'm semi retired and couldn't afford that.   I checked Angie's List for another plumber, and found out that only a licensed heating & cooling (mechanical) person should repair any part of a boiler system (which the first plumber was not).   I saw that Mr. Moran only had one review (it was good) but I was cautious.  However, he was perfect - he's been a H&C mechanical plumber for 30 yrs, does all his own work, charged by the hour ($90), researched with other specialists on the best repair for my problem before he came to do the repair.  It only took him about 2 hrs (because he had to break up some concrete to get the pipe exposed) so the cost was around $180.  After a month, the repair from the first plumber started leaking and Mr.Moran came out, broke up more concrete and cut out the repair, and did his magic on the pipe. He was done in 1 1/2 hrs.  Of course, everything is working well.

It went excellent! They were very honest and friendly. They did not do any unnecessary work. The company was helpful and does not take advantage of the emergency situation and charge you more.
