We couldn't be happier with the exceptional work Jim and his team at Jay-Bilt Construction did on our new detached garage. From the moment we hired him in September 2022, we knew we were in good hands. Jim's craftsmanship is top-notch, and the finished garage has received countless compliments for its outstanding design and attention to detail. What sets Jim apart is his dedication to giving us a say in the decision-making process. As picky clients, we appreciated his patience and willingness to accommodate our design preferences. Throughout the project, Jim's crews impressed us with their professionalism, skill, and courteousness. Special thanks go to Frank, Chris, and Mark, as well as Ed and his entire flatwork team for their exceptional contributions. Furthermore, Jim's fair and transparent pricing kept us on budget, ensuring there were no unexpected surprises. He's not just an honest contractor; he genuinely cares about you and your project, going the extra mile to ensure everything exceeds your expectations. We wholeheartedly recommend Jim and Jay-Bilt Construction to anyone seeking a reliable, talented, and caring general contractor. They turned our vision into reality, and we couldn't be more grateful for the fantastic result. Thank you, Jim, and your entire team, for a job well done!

Beautiful but lacks function and going on too long. This project has been frustrating to say the least. We went with a contractor that specializes in this realizing it may be more expensive, but we were on a tight timeline and wanted to have to handled by experts that were able to help avoid pitfalls and stress. We signed paperwork in April for construction and as of July 5th still have not passed final inspection. Was told that the project would be a few weeks total for teardown, and were provided feedback that actual crew effort would be concrete 2-3 days, build in 1 day, electrical a different day, and siding another day. Teardown began May 9th. The concrete failed inspection and required re-work on the prep which delayed the project several days. Instead of a work crew, the siding was done by a brother in law of the owner (one person) and took 7 business days, 10 days total to complete. The building also failed inspection due to lack of roof venting. In addition, the construction was done which makes the garage very pretty with coach lights (that my husband told him was not needed) but it actually has reduced the functionality. Our driveway is very narrow and the garage door openings line up pretty straight with the driveway, our garage now has two feet of siding on the left of the door which means pull in and out is difficult to avoid hitting the house and it also means we will be forced to park more in the center of the garage and that eats up the intended area for storage. Though the garage is quite pretty, I would have much preferred having the needed function over the aesthetic.

Signed contract with $500 down in mid-October 2014 ( was told 3 weeks before they could start). Was contacted three weeks later and was told that the senior installer got hurt and could not start the job. Warm spell around the New Years Eve prompted contractor to have materials delivered. Vinyl trim and assorted installation hardware were delivered to the side of the house in cardboard boxes. Installation was supposed to begin a day or so after however the weather turned bad, extreme cold and snow. I had to cover all materials with tarps. We then got 18 inches of snow and minus 20 degree temps. Job was delayed until March 2. I waas asked to pay another $3500 before the job began and I did so. I gave up the use of my entire garage for their tools due to still unseasonable temps. Contractor started around 11am daily and left between 4-6pm during the week and Saturday. One man crew for install for the first two weeks. Then a second man joined the first guy.
Job took 4 weeks for a small 1400sq foot ranch.
They had to take down part of the job that had already finished after I reminded them that they forgot to install a vinyl fan splay feature in the gable of the garage.
Outside water bib housings left little room to put a hose on. I was told by the installer that I need to put extensions on my older type bibs. I did not agree as I believe they could have just lowered the box housing surround that they installed. I finally said I could live with it.
They laid ladders across my cedar deck in the back of the house every day gouging the cedar. A do-care issue that could have been avoided.
They put in small outside light fixture mounting blocks such that my existing lights hang over the lower edge by about 1.5 inches. Cosmetic issue.
They did not clean up very well around the house and in the garage. In the garage alone I found nails scattered about in many places.
Gutter installation in some areas were not pitched proper toward downspouts. I had to point this out as they didn't even lay a level on them. They did correct this.
So upon the final walk through, I brought many of these issues up again but more specifically the marring of the deck and the light blocks.  He did offer to replace the light blocks for the other size that he could get (he only had access to two sizes?) but I said no as the other size was significantly larger. We bartered on repairs and we agreed to $400 off the final price and he asked for payment the following day after they were to return for some final touch up / unfinished areas (final caulking) and issues under the front porch. I left the check for them but they never touched up anything and I suspect they won't.
This is not a rant, the actually siding job that was done does look very nice minus the issues. I just think that the professionalism could have been more customer based, especially the deck, the light boxes and the clean up.
I would not recommend them.

Very well.  No complaints at all.  Very reasonable price for all the work they did.
