Scheduled exactly as promised. Moved the furniture out of the room, installed the carpet and then made sure all furniture was placed exactly where we wanted.

They were nice. They were professional. They sub contracted it out to another company, they got in in decent time and left about 7:00 in the evening. They finished it all in one day. They are reasonable they knew everything they were doing, they helped me take out the refrigerator and the kitchen table.
Response from ABBEY FLOORING & DESIGN
"Thank you for the review. Our crews, while they are independent businesses themselves, are screened extensively and have a great track record in taking care of our customers. We are very glad that you were pleased with their performance. Too often, we only hear of the problems, not what went right. We will be sure to pass your comments along to our crew. We very much appreciate your confidence in Abbey Flooring!"

Our entire experience with Abbey Flooring was a disappointing disaster. Our sales rep, Steve, was great to deal with when making a sale--then when things went south with the install he was impossible to deal with. We had purchased vinyl flooring to be installed in our kitchen prior to listing our home for sale. It was installed noticeable unevenly with numerous soft spots and pockets throughout the floor. People visiting our home would even comment on the unevenness of the flooring. We had Steve come out and take a look and he assured us it would be corrected. Well, he sent back out the same crew--to and quot;fixand quot; it they needed to inject filler into the soft spots. They CUT holes in the floor to insert their filler needles and then smeared glue/caulk over the holes to keep them shut. The new floor look like it had been slashed in numerous spots with a knife. VERY noticeable and looked anything but new. We were horrified they would leave a new floor in such a condition. We called Steve to express our concern and he could've cared less. I asked to speak with a manager and he had the nerve to tell me NO. I told him how disappointed we were in the entire experience and his response was a smug and quot;I'm sorry to hear that.and quot; That's it. We will NEVER do business with Abbey flooring again and tell everyone to avoid hiring them. Their workmanship, customer service and ability to back up their work was absolutely appalling. Save yourself the money and headache and find a more professional group. (I should note, this work was done in 2013--Angie's List made me select a specific date of service and I estimated the best I could. I only recently acquired an account or this review would've been composed earlier.)

Installers were very nice. Things did not go very well. Not very well planned out. did not have the right materials for the job. took them an extra day to complete. I have a hugh dent in the middle of floor where the two rooms come together. Will never use them again.
Response from ABBEY FLOORING & DESIGN
"It's unfortunate that Ms. [removed member name]chose to publish her comments before we had the opportunity to correct her installation. When our installers arrived at the job and removed existing flooring, we discovered a height difference in the adjacent flooring that was not evident when we originally inspected the job. We had to procure additional materials to complete the job. Ms. [removed member name]husband instructed us to continue the job but she did not like the result. Frankly, neither did we. We have subsequently reworked the floor to eliminate the height difference at no additional cost to the customer. It's unfortunate that Ms. [removed member name]did not bother to update her response to reflect the fact that the job now looks very good. We do our best to make our installations fit the image that the customer has in mind. Sometimes we encounter issues that are beyond what we expected and have to make changes to our approach. Invariably, this causes additional time to complete. We are glad that the job ultimately came out looking good and hope the [removed member name]enjoy it for years to come."

--carpet and ceramic tile were installed to my satisfaction, the installers were professional
Laminate flooring
Laminate flooring was laid over a cement floor. I had removed all carpeting where laminate was to be laid, so that the sales person could see that it needed leveling. She said it was not a problem and wrote it up on the Job Invoice----(Prep floors as needed). When the installer came I pointed out the same problem to him, and he seemed confident that he could correct the problem using play sand. He did not do what he said, so the finished laminate floor had uneven boards.
I complained to my sales person about the install. She came out and seemed to agree that the install was not done right. Abbey's response was to send the same installers back, who did nothing but complain that they were not getting paid to redo the floor. They blamed it on the materials. Out comes the factory rep next, who blames it on the install. So Abbey sends the same installers back to try and fix it again. Each time they took it apart the problems were getting worse instead of better. I will live with it the way it is.
After I paid the final bill I received in the mail a printout of the job proposal. The carbon of the hand written job invoice that I have which reads (prep floors as needed) had been changed on the job proposal to (prep floor in kitchen area. if needed).

Response from ABBEY FLOORING & DESIGN
"We are sorry that Member does not like the laminate flooring he chose for his residence. We installed 2 different grades of laminate flooring in his residence. The material chosen for the kitchen area was a premium grade and a value grade of laminate was chosen for the rest of the job in an effort to keep Member's job within his desired budget. Most manufacturers offer multiple grades of their end product - General Motors offers Cadillac as their premium brand and Chevrolet as their value brand. Member indicated to our sales representative that he was very pleased with the look of the kitchen but had problems with the look of the other material. On first examination, we all assumed that more work needed to be done on the concrete slab. When we removed a section of flooring in question, we discovered that the area was properly prepared and required no rework. It was then determined that we would call the manufacturer's representative out to determine if the material was in any way defective. It was concluded by the rep that the laminate was within industry tolerances and it was installed properly. Our installers spent considerable time actually grinding the concrete substrate to prepare it for the finish flooring. We typically use various methods (including the use of sand as a filler) to prepare a floor. Member was not present when we were reworking his floor so we cannot expect him to know that we chose a different method other than sand to flatten his concrete floor. He fails to mention that we did not increase our floor preparation charges for using a more expensive method. This situation appears to boil down to a product meeting the customer's expectations. Member wants his value laminate flooring to look like the premium grade he chose for his kitchen. Unfortunatley, we were not able to make his Chevrolet look like a Cadillac. We have tried numerous times to reach Member regarding his situation but he has not returned any of our calls."

Abbey Flooring continues to exceed my expectations after 5 years as our go-to flooring source when the need arrises. Everything from the greeting in the showroom to follow up emails as the job details were finalized was consistent. The installers were prompt, professional, and mindful of keeping the work area clean and protected. Abbey stands behind their service and even worked through our demanding schedules making visits to our home after 6pm on a weekday and accommodating our request for Saturday installation appointments. Thanks to Gordon and Debbie for the exceptional service.

The salesman in the store answered questions and allowed us to take samples home. The salesman's partner measured the space in our home. However, when the installers removed the carpet and the two previous floors, I was told that we should have paid more money to remove the second old flooring. Our price was only for one floor to be removed. I don't think that should be mentioned to the client, because it is the responsibility of the salesman to investigate how many floor coverings exist. And then because there were two levels of old flooring, there was a sizable gap between the floor and the floor molding. So the installers consulted with the salesman, and I was quoted a very high price to install new floor molding! I think that Abbey should have done this for me without additional charge, because it was the fault of the salesman's incorrect quote. He should have cut into the flooring in the closet, and he would have discovered the two previous floors! So be sure that the salesman correctly investigates what is under the top floor! The installers grumbled that they already did extra work that they wouldn't be paid for when they removed the second flooring, so they weren't going to install new molding for free! I didn't have them install the new floor molding. I had to purchase new molding, and hire a contractor to cut, stain and install it! We are very satisfied with the new linoleum. The installers did a good job.
Response from ABBEY FLOORING & DESIGN
"We certainly understood the Customer's concern about her moldings. We specifically spell out in our sales agreement that we cannot be responsible for hidden conditions. We do not cut into existing floors until we are hired to complete a project. Our estimator did his best to anticipate what was needed to complete the job and offered to revise the Customer's trim at our cost. We do apologize for the comments our installer made about having to do extra work - he was, in fact, compensated for all of the work he did, regardless of what he stated to the customer. I'm sure he was just as frustrated due to the additional work required. We did not charge anything additional for completing a double tear-out, however, due to the size of the job, we simply could not absorb the cost of new trim throughout her job. The great news is that she did like the end result and was pleased with our quality of installation - for this, we are very proud."

they did a very bad job of installing. broke my other tile floor and light while doing the job and never called me to let me know that day, but i had to find out when i came home. then they never contacted me afterward either. they were recommended by the contractor that was doing my kitchen who i will never use again or recommended either.
Response from ABBEY FLOORING & DESIGN
"We do our best to make our customer's happy. We take precautions when moving heavy appliances out of a room but sometimes acccidents do happen. We tried to match the existing tile to repair the cracked ceramic but were not successful. We offered to replace the entire area, however the homeowner refused to have us do the job. She hired someone else and we covered the cost. We wish her well in the future and feel that we did everything possible to correct the situation. By the way, the finished floor did look terrific - she failed to mention that fact."

Our overall experience was excellent. We started looking at flooring months before installation, since we first were removing wallpaper and painting almost the whole house. We made many trips to Abbey and took home countless samples. Ian was remarkably helpful, patient and cooperative througout the months that we planned this project. He was a pleasure to work with and always shared information and advice; maintaining ongoing communication by phone, text or e-mail. Likewise, Steve was equally as helpful in answering questions and taking measurements to provide quotes, as our choices changed during the planning stage. We can't possibly have enough praise for Al and his installation crew. Al is is a highly skilled flooring artist; a perfectionist who will not cut corners and will not be satisfied until the job is done correctly. The quality of his work is impeccable. We certainly could have gotten the job done for less money, using cheaper materials and labor. But we wanted excellent quality and great service and value, and that is exactly what Abbey delivered. We continue to get many, many compliments on our flooring and highly recommend Abbey Flooring and Design.

We went to Abbey flooring and met Debbie, who became our salesperson. She was very knowledgeable, helpful, and not pushy AT ALL. We went back a couple of times for more samples to bring home. She was patient, had good suggestions, and eventually found the one that worked for us. She set up the installation. Although they were a few hours late, due to a project that ran late through no fault of theirs, once the installers, Dan and Dan arrived, it was professionalism from then on. They worked well together, with the more experienced installer patiently explaining to the younger man not only what they had to do, but why they were doing it that way. They worked hard all day, took very few very short breaks, cleaned up as they went along, and the end result was perfect. Not a flaw, and they installed the linoleum all in one piece, having to go over and around an island and other obstacles. No seams, every edge is perfect. The price, quality, and sales and installation were all great. Will go back to them for all out needs.

They did a beautiful job, the carpet looks amazing. It was a relatively cheap carpet, it was a mid grade carpet. It looks wonderful, the installation was awesome. They took that cheaper grade of carpet and made it look beautiful.

AGain, as I wrote above, it went very well. My sister-in-law had a horrific experience dealing with Home Depot installers, so it was very important to me that whoever I ordered carpet from I wanted to be sure that professional and experienced installers would be provided. Abbey promised and delivered on everything.

This project went amazingly smooth. Two workers (Al and Edwin arrived at the house at 8:30am) completed this entire project in one day. My wife and I saved some time and effort by preparing the spaces in both rooms by moving the major appliances ourselves to a nearly family room, including the refrigerator, washer, dryer, plus anything that occupied floor space in either room (kitchen table, vacuum cleaner in laundry room, etc.) We rented an appliance-rated hand truck to accomplish this. Abbey Flooring can include removal of appliances as part of the contract as well, since it can be heavy - somewhat dangerous work (i.e. moving a refrigerator or washer.) After the new floor was installed, Al and Ed restored and connected all the major appliances, saving us the effort. They were professional and courteous. I imagine most jobs have unique challenges. Our kitchen and laundry room floorplan had several nooks and crannies requiring thoughtful consideration on how to lay out sheet vinyl to minimize visible seams. These guys had a wealth of experience to guide them. They surmounted the challenges with excellent results. I'm very pleased with the job. The new floor is beautiful. I would recommend Abbey Flooring and Design to anyone considering a new floor.
