Fowlerville Fence

Chuck was recommended to us by our neighbor, who used Fowlerville almost 14 years ago. We received a couple of bids, and decided to go with Chuck based on the favorable review by our neighbor. Best decision ever. Chuck came and gave us a bid, asked all the important questions to make sure we got what we wanted, and we confirmed the installation. Chuck promised us the job would be done in two days, and despite having one employee that faced a family medical emergency, he was able to regroup and keep to the original schedule. His crew was incredibly prompt, polite, and detail-oriented. The fence looks beautiful and was perfectly installed. We wouldn't hesitate to call Chuck again should we have the need, and will certainly recommend him to our friends.

The guy came out and did an excellent job. He told me it wasn't going to be a problem and it wasn't. The workmanship was excellent, and they cleaned up. The fence was perfect. They even found a flaw in my original fencing and explained it to me. There were no hidden charges.

***UPDATE as of 7/2/13 Chuck came out yesterday, and we showed him the things that were wrong witht he fence. He completely agreed, and he and a different crew came out today to re-do the areas that were bad. It now looks as it should. The overall experience was still not as it should have been, but in the end, it was resolved. The intial contact was good. Chuck was anxious to come out, look at our yard, and discuss our needs. One of the things we wanted was an arched entry gate. We wanted a five foot gate; he deterred us from that because he said the arch would be so subtle that it wouldn't be worth the extra money. (Our concrete guys suggested the 5 footer, and it's gorgeous~~I don't know what Chuck was talking about. In fact, he talked us out of a few things, which I now question) I then emailed him the final fence layout, and he came out a second time to measure. He said he would email a quote to me within a few days, and that I should sign and mail it back with a 50% deposit, so that he could get things ordered and have it all ready to go, for when it was time to install. Almost two months later, after me hounding him via email and a call or two, I finally got the quote. I also had to tell him four different times that we wanted black for the color. The night before they were to install, I got an email from Chuck, asking me to call him because he didn't have my number, and since I was working the next day and wouldn't be here in the morning when they would be, could I go outside with marking paint, and outilne the layout for him, and re-email my drawing of the layout, too. Really??? I tried with the paint, but it was impossible with the rain and wind, and my husband was out of town, so I gave up. He said his crew would be here by 9 a.m. His crew arrived here the next day (last week) to install the fence, as I arrived home from work, 1pm (It did rain in the morning, which is why they started later). However, they said they could not do what we had asked, and planned for, due to the grade, and other reasons. We went back and forth for over three hours, and every time I suggested a different layout, I was told it was not possible, or that it would be "a lot of work". In fact, we heard that term often: "that would be a lot of work". We felt the workers were rather lazy, and wanted the easiest way as possible, to do get the job done. We finally agreed to a design, and they put in four posts, and called it quits for the day. Let me add that they didn't have enough fence for either layout!!! And the second layout is tighter to the pool decking than the original. So they most definitely could NOT have had either job done in one day, no matter what. Day #2~~ The crew arrived around 11:30 a.m. and left by 3:30 p.m., because one of the workers "didn't feel well". It was a sunny, 85 degree day...?? Day #3~~nothing Day #4~~They showed up around 11 or so, and finished the job. It's just "ok". One area near the rear gate is crooked, and almost the entire back side of the fence is higher than it should be, even according to our pool installer. During this whole process, Chuck never showed up to look at the site. We haven't seen him here since he measured, about three months ago. In our opinion, he should have been here when the pool builder was working on the final grade, and let him know what he needed in order to make our layout work. We also assumed he would be overlooking the project, in person, not over the phone. Would we recommend this company? Absolutely NOT. It was a very frustrating, and disappointing experience. And that's putting it nicely. :(

Wonderful experience

They were absolutely fantastic. They were great to work with. They had really good follow up and really friendly staff. They were very friendly and thorough on the job. We even ran into a problem with my neighbor's sprinklers system when they were drilling one of the holes to set the fence post. They cut the neighbors sprinkler line and it's not something that they would generally fix but they fixed it. I thought it was really outstanding that they took the extra time and effort to do that.
