This service was completed from the time I brought my PC in at 10 am to 5 pm the same day.
But, over the weekend my desktop PC failed to boot up, even though my primary drive is a Solid State drive.
That means, I had no access to anything on that drive, to back up or save or anything.
Vertex RESCUED my failed Sold State boot Drive in my primary PC and were able to move everything to a new drive so that my complete OS and all preferences and favorites and settings are EXACTLY the same as they were the minute before my drive failed.
At first they hooked it up to various and quot;machinesand quot; and couldn't even see that my disk and quot;existedand quot;! But ----They kept trying. After about 4 or 5 different and quot;machinesand quot; to hook it up to it was recognized. From there they could not only retrieve the information on that drive but also move it to a new boot drive that would duplicate everything, every setting, every favorite, every little tweek I had ever done, so that my reunion with my computer was completely seamless.
Most of the other services available around here would have tried once or twice and said I was and quot;out of luckand quot; and then replaced the drive, but would have caused me months of trying to recover lost settings and passwords, etc. (I keep my data on other drives so I was fine with pictures, records, etc.)
I have had past experiences with Vertex over the past 4 years and they have been brilliant.
Once, my computer that was a Win7 OS started to boot in XP. Really??!! They fixed that
Once, I needed to update my whole system and I brought them my box and they rebuilt the whole thing, saving the parts that were still good. Brilliant and Beautiful.
Do they cost more than other services?? I think they do a little bit, but it is worth every penny to me knowing I will get skilled and intelligent top of the line service. If you don't want that, go to someone cheaper.
I have average to above technical knowledge (at least for my age group). I have built my own computer in the past but I don't work in the IT field and often need help . I have gone to some of the chain stores when I had a problem and tried to get some help for things I didn't know how to fix. I know enough to know when and quot;theyand quot; don't know what they are doing. These guys at Vertex know what they are doing...
I refer everyone who asks me about fixing a computer to this group at Vertex.
CONS: I read some other reviews, not all here on Angie's List, and heard that people felt they were rude or unfriendly. Here's the deal: these guys are computer experts, not social workers. One or two of them might not make smiling and small talk a regular practice and instead just converse with you about the technical things and just speak practical. I recommend that you celebrate their expertise and get over the rest for the sake of your computer (have you ever watched Big Bang Theory) and realize that you are there to get the best help in town for your technology.
Would you complain if you had a brilliant doctor that saved your life but was a bit impersonal, or would you wish you had the warm and fuzzy doctor that helped you feel good while you got sicker and maybe died?
I will ALWAYS take my computer needs to Vertex and trust their business.
