The Empowerment Church had a complete Duro-Last Membrane Roof installed late last year and of course we had an unusual weather this winter. I discovered a leak yesterday and called Kyle to notify him of a possible leak. Kyle responded immediately and had Dave and crew come down the next day, Dave found the source of the leak, and repaired it with additional recommendations of what was needed. Thank you Kyle and Dave and crew for fast response and excellent service. Superior Services is my company of workmanship and excellence in addressing our repair issues immediately. I don’t think you can get any better than that and they Honor their Warranty just keep up the maintenance schedule annually. Once again great job and Thank you. Reggie Barnes The Empowerment Church

After some storm damage the roofing company quickly responded did an estimate delivered shingles and did an excellent job of installation on the back side of my roof. I would absolutely use this company again. This company not only repaired my roof but also took care of a few windows in my house. The crew cleaned up all of the debris including the nails and they were very professional and we're very safe on the job site.

My new dining room drywall was destroyed due to a leak in the roof directly above the dining room. I contacted Superior Services ad explained the issue to them, and they stated that they would come out the next day and take a look at what was going on. The tech came out the next day, as promised, and spent about 20 minutes up on the roof.
They stated that the roof just needed to be patched and a couple of metal fasteners reattached. They were quick and very informative of what they were doing and what steps they were taking.
Very good. Will definatly use again

A portion of my roof is flat, and has stubbornly refused all of my husband?s efforts to repair it, so it required a tear off and replacement of boards, plus the installation of new roofing. They were very respectful, and very tidy. After they left, you
would have never known they were there!
My roof no longer leaks! I will have them do the remainder of my house.

Dear Angie,
This is an updated review. Originally we had problems with the subcontractor following through in a timely manner and completeness of the roofing job. Once we got in contact with the right person at Superior Roofing, the issues we had were resolved in a professional manner and to our satisfaction.

First off I want to say that I couldn't reply on the quality of the work just because I'm not there physically to look at the fix, but I have trust this company did a great job on the fix. They have a great reputation and come highly reviewed.
I called them about an issue and they came out on the same day!!! Above and beyond my wildest hopes. I was concerned about an area that was leaking around a gasket that is specifically there for a "water feature" a previous owner put in. Since we had never run the water feature, I never thought to check this area (and we didn't use the garage much except to hold a lawn mower and some tools). So, when we were getting the house ready for selling I was taking notes on whatever needed to be fixed and panicked when I saw there was a roof area that needed patching asap. Well...this company and their communication was top notch and put my mind at rest that it was done quickly. Great communication and response.

The quality and professionalism were excellent. We were a very small job so we did have to wait until there was an opening, but they did an excellent job and did it well. The price was high compared to other flat roofers, BUT the product is much better and comes with a long lasting warranty. In this case, you get what you pay for.

There was a very competent crew involved. There was a lot of work on tall ladders. The crew did a very good job. All of the detail trim work looks very neat. The windows and door work fine. They also were very good about picking up all of the trash involved every day.
At this time I do not have any complaints and would not hesitate to recommend this company.

They do residential and commercial roofing and they have been in business for over 35 years according to them. They have been since 2009 on Angie's List and I found them there. I went in and checked the GAF and they were top on their list too. They took the old roof off and put the new one on, and they were within the price range and on top of that they provided me with all the certifications, insurance and everything. The first thing they gave me was all their paperwork, their license and everything. They even made sure I had the complete package on the company. They were very upfront. The good thing about them is that I did not have to ask them for their liability, insurance or anything, they presented that to me before they had done any work. They made sure I had the packet before I would even consider them. When they did come out and do the work I could not find a cigarette bud on the ground or anything. They picked everything up when they were finished it was immaculate. They had put containers in the driveway and they picked them up ASAP and GAF sent a representative out to inspect the roof and they were very satisfied. It has been over a year now and there is no problem, it looks just like new. When they said they would be here they were here. They were very professional. They had the roofing done in two days, and you could go and check the straightness.

The work itself was performed correctly (as far as we can tell) and on time. However my great dissatisfaction with their company is their billing practices.
Before the work was started we paid half the proposal cost. They cashed our check the next day. Then, the Monday that the work was completed (May 19, 2008), their representative (Kathy) again came out and presented us with an invoice that stated an amount, referred to on the invoice as "Balance Due." She stated at the time that we were being charged (above the proposal cost) the additional $300 for the required ice and water shield, plus an additional $170 for 10 additional boards above what was on the estimate. She stated at that time she knew they used more than 10 additional boards, but wouldn't charge us for them. (This, I know, is not an uncommon practice in roofing. 23 year prior to this the house had been reroofed and the roofer told us the same thing.) I then immediately wrote a check for the amount the invoice showed as the "Balance due." That check was also cashed the following day. As you can see, they were paid promptly by us and had no problem getting their money.
Three weeks later I received a call from Kathy stating we owed an additional $1630 for the boards required to redeck the roof. I pointed out to her that they didn't really use more boards than estimated because an entire tear off of the old boards and redecking was part of the original work proposal and included in the proposal cost. They only had to replace some, did not have to do the labor of tearing off the rest or the cost of disposing of them, and they simply had to put more boards over what was already there. In addition to that, she had stated at the time she collected in person after the work was completed that they knew they had used more boards than they had charged us for, but won't charge us for them. I also pointed out that when an invoice presented upon the completion of work says "Balance Due" a customer doesn't take that to mean "for now - and we might decide to bill you for more later." If that were the case, a company could come back indefinitely and continue to bill you more and more money. Kathy then said they would look at the bill again, talk to her boss, and call back within 2 business days. However, we did not receive the promised phone call from them.
One month later (July 7, 2008), we received an invoice in the mail (no phone call) stating we were "Past Due" on a charge of $1630 for the work done on the roof. When I called them they stated they had made "lots of mistakes" in their billing and were now rebilling. After a refusal of the company to dismiss the charge, we filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Superior Services' initial response to our complaint was that "Balance Due" really meant to them that it was a balance due at that time, with the intention of doing a final accounting later, and stated that they could "only surmise that [my name] was trying to evade her obligation by any means available to her." They threatened to sue us.
We countered via the Better Business Bureau complaint system that (among other things) we had since contacted the State of Michigan Attorney General's office, who advised us that such billing practices were considered by the State of Michigan to be a deceptive business practice, since they made no attempt to inform us that any further accounting would be carried out and had presented us with what any reasonable consumer would assume to be the final bill, which had been paid promptly by us. In addition, their representative had stated that they knew they had used more boards than we were charged for but would not charge us for them. I also stated in my Better Business Bureau response that our extremely high credit rating and swiftness with which we had paid the bill presented when the work was completed would clearly show that we do not evade our obligations and any attempt by them to sue us for the money would be vigorously defended.
On July 21, 2008, Superior Services stated they would consider our account paid in full. Our dispute with them was then closed.

Response from Superior Services Rsh Inc
"Our client files indicate the project referenced dates back approximately five years ago, May of 2008. Upon further review, our records indicated that there was some confusion on the part of the homeowner concerning redecking of the entire home as mandated by the local building authority and subsequent charges for the associated labor and material. However, in an effort to maintain good customer relations and to the homeowner's benefit, Superior Services waived all additional fees in question. It was our belief at the time this satisfactorily resolved the homeowner's issues. In addition, included with the final payment from the homeowner was our customary, "How would you rate us?" survey card. In all categories we were given an "excellent" rating. The following personal comments were included by the homeowner in the comment section: "excellent from start to finish. I liked that Kathy came out mid-job to check on the crew. Even the Building Inspector said 'these guys do good work, you're in good hands.'" Under these circumstances the motivation for this post is most puzzling. Our records indicate that no additional contact or correspondence has been received from the client since resolution five years ago. It is our intention to follow up with the homeowner in an attempt to resolve any remaining issues. Superior Services is a family owned and operated business. We believe in treating customers in the same manner in which we would like to be treated. We pride ourselves in our professionalism and service and believe our record speaks for itself as evidenced by the numerous positive ratings herein. We greatly value and appreciate input from our customers which in turn allows us to improve upon our service methods. It is recommended that all prospective customers do their own due diligence, and thoroughly investigate any prospective contractor. We recommend you contact the Better Business Bureau, Local and State Building Authorities as well as Consumer advocacy services like this one. With over 37 years in business, we can provide you with hundreds of references and welcome the opportunity to do so."

I was treated well from the first phone call--they took great care to get my information and communicated back to me when the technicians would visit. The techs were friendly and respectful, and they knew exactly what to look for on our roof (although they had never been here before). They were able to identify the leaks and patch them right away, without creating a ruckus or tracking in any dirt. Even the invoice was good--descriptive and complete.

They did a good job. I don't have any additional leaks so the issue has been corrected. It looks good from what I can see on the ground. He also provided a 7 year guarantee as well.

They were very careful about the yard, plants, and outdoor furniture. Everything was left neat, clean, tidy, picked up and as good as new. They were easy to get ahold of to answer questions and schedule the work. It was like dealing with friends!

The work was performed after some delays with bad weather. The work crew were very efficient and work was completed in one day. The crew did an excellent job during the installation and their insistence at using flat roofing materials on the porch area resulted in a much better job that I anticipate will hold up much better than shingles in that area. The only concern I had during the installation was their literally following building codes and not using felt under the shingles at the peak. When I asked I was told that within 2 feet of the peak code does not require felt under the shingles. I requested that they do that anyway and they complied without question to the areas not yet completed. I did not ask them to remove the work already done, so that area does not have felt under the shingles. If any leaks occur in the peak area lacking felt we will have a good understanding as to why, but I was assured that there will be no issues there. As a whole I am pleased with their work and understand that near the peak there is much less risk of leaks because water accumulation is less likely.

From start to finish my experience with Superior Services went very well. Kathy Compton was very professional and helpful when she came to my home to take measurements and give me an estimate on cost. She was very pleasant to work with through the process. The workers were very considerate in picking up after themselves and did a professional job on the roof and the siding. The overall experience went well and I would highly recommend this company.

Greg came by the day the roof was installed to make certain we were happy with how it was being done and delivered a thank you card. I also liked that Superior buys roofing that is made in MI (Saginaw) and that it is custom made for our roof. A crew came the day of the installation and they were done in no time. They were all friendly and seemed knowledgeable. They took time to answer my questions about how it was installed. They went beyond our expectations by lifting down a plastic bin that had filled with water from the leaky roof as it was on a high shelf in the garage and would have been hard for me to handle--I didn't ask, they did this on their own. I would highly recommend them to others; what a great group and our roof looks so much better and I have to believe it will be in good shape for a long time after watching them install it.

We had used Superior Services about 4 years ago to replace a roof on another house. Kathy Compton and the Superior Services did such a good job for us then, that there was no question that we were going to hire them to do the work on our residence. I called Kathy, she came out right away to finalize the proposal and the work was completed in a matter of days. The crew was competent and professional, working in less than ideal conditions. We had several inches of snow on the roof. They shoveled it off and went to work between the snow which only fell at night. We decided to put the money into Gutter Topper at this time rather than reroofing our separate garage. When that needs to be done, we will hire Superior Services to do it.

Job was done on time and on bid. Pleasant people, easy to deal with, no pressure. Provided a nice packet of info along with copies of their license and insurance endorsement. Have dealt with them before to contract my mother-in-law's roof. Have watched them do three other homes in the neighborhood. Average time, about a day and half on all. Neat, punctual and professional. Unlike brand X guys, these folks show with a half a dozen men and get the job done.
