Auto Body Work
$4,000
I was hit directly between passenger side doors on a 4 door truck on June 18th. I called my mechanic to see who they recommended, they recommended R&R Collision on Lake Lansing Rd. Had my vehicle towed to their location, was given a quote of $4052 to get it back to pre-accident condition "would look like it came right from the factory" with a Lifetime warranty on parts and labor, all of this told by owner Rick. On July 8th I called the owner to tell them everything was good to go and they could start on the vehicle, like every other time I have called he is at lunch or at the doctor. Called again on the 10th to make sure he received my message because I never heard back, again he was at lunch or at the doctor. Called again on the 15th, this time refusing to wait for a call back, he was suddenly back in the shop, claimed he received my message and it would take 10 working days to do. Showed up at the shop on the 24th to find my vehicle still in the parking lot untouched, I asked what was going on and the owner's response was "we were just getting ready to pull it in and work on it, it was too hot to work on it last week". I asked how much longer, and was told another two weeks. I understand the heat, however I work for a construction company who had roofers out working in the heat, so to hear it's too hot for someone to work in a shaded shop is absurd to me. Drove by the the shop that night and the following two nights to see it not having moved from the parking space. Called on August 2nd to see how it was coming, the response I received from the owner was "oh, I'm almost done, really close, it's coming out really well. I'll have it ready for you next week". Showed up in the shop on the 7th, all he had accomplished at this point was getting the tire changed and cutting out the old rocker panel. Told him I would need a truck for the weekend because I have pushed back moving for two weeks since my truck is in the shop, he tells me he'll let me use his truck if it's not done. Call back that Friday and he says he needs his truck for the weekend so his "free loaner vehicle" claim he has is false advertising, he doesn't give out loaner vehicles, I asked three times for one. Fast forward to today, three days shy of two months from the accident and one day shy of 6 weeks from when I gave him the go ahead, and I still do not have my vehicle back. I have gone twice this week to pick it up only to find that he has re-used my damaged trim pieces but charged me for used ones, door does not operate correctly - I'm told it will wear into position, scratches in a brand new paint job, didn't do about $300 worth of work but billed me for additional work that I never agreed to that magically comes out to the $300 difference, and is far from $4000 or 6 weeks worth of work. And the lifetime warranty I was sold has now become a one year warranty.
