Had to have Jim back out this year (2017) to clear out my drain line from the kitchen to the main drain. While he was here, had him run back through the main line as a preventative service. Plan on having him back each year as a preventative measure.

I do not recommend this business. I used this business based on positive reviews and was very happy the first visit which was reasonable. On the last visit charges were added for mileage and removing a toilet which did not help. The clog returned a few weeks later and I was charged an additional nearly $300. I was very concerned about the quality of the service and costs. I attempted to speak to the owner Jeff. He was very argumentative and refused to even listen to my concerns instead insulting my family for what caused the clog. It was extremely rude. I believe in letting an owner know when things are not right but this owner does not care. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this business. Fortunately, with Angies List consumers can relay their experiences.
Response from J & A Drain Cleaners
"Mrs. [Member Name Removed] hired our company to clean the sewer line in her home approximately a week prior to Thanksgiving. She stated they were expecting guests over the holidays and wanted to make sure the line was clear. We arrived and performed the sewer cleaning service as discussed. There was nothing plugging the line at this visit. Mr. [Member Name Removed] called us back the evening of December 22nd and stated the sewer line was plugged and requested a service person be sent out that evening. Upon arrival, the service person assessed the situation, determined the sewer line was plugged and spoke to Mr. [Member Name Removed] regarding the problem. They discussed possible causes for the problem including the plumbing set up and the possibility of something other than normal waste and paper being flushed down the line and that there would be a charge for opening the line if either of these were the cause of the problem. The service person also gave Mr. [Member Name Removed] a price for cleaning the sewer line prior to beginning the service. At this point Mr. [Member Name Removed] stated that if we charged him he would leave a negative review on Angies list. The service person augered the sewer open and removed feminine hygiene products from the line, which had caused the blockage. The service person then showed Mr. [Member Name Removed] and explained that that type of material should not be flushed down the line in the future in order to prevent a re-occurrence. Mr. [Member Name Removed] then signed the invoice and paid for the service."

I called for an appointment and was able to have the repairperson come the next day when I already planned to be available. The repairperson arrived on time and was quickly able to clear the sewer line.

Jeff gave great advice on vendors to help out with excavation and plumbing, after he diagnosed that the sewer line was irreparable. He did all those in extremely bad weather. I really appreciated his responsiveness.
