Worse company to work with

Frook plumbing replaced our shower head and faucet in our master bathroom due to poor water pressure. The next day when I turned the shower off the water continued to drip down in a fairly steady stream until it eventually stopped. I called to tell them and they said it's from the pressure that builds up in the shower head, but the water itself is off and that this is normal. I explained that I've never turned off a shower and not had the water stop immediately. They said we could pay more for them to install another shower head but there's no guarantee it wouldn't do the same thing. We will not be doing business with them again.
Response from FROOK PLUMBING INC
"Good Morning Ms. [Member Name Removed]: Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are always appreciative to hear what our customers have to say about our service. We would once again like to offer you the opportunity to have our plumbers return to observe the "steady stream" you described in your review, however, we understand your declination over the phone on June 11, 2024. If you change your mind please give our office a call and our Office Manager would be happy to schedule an appointment."

I was very much taken advantage of by this company owner. First he told me that he and his partner had 60 years of plumbing experience, so not to worry. Then, he sent three 20 year olds to do the work. He Also said it was an "ALL-DAY" job when in fact it took three hours. He fitted prices to the estimate including a $180.00 transportation fee and I live about 3-4 miles from their office. Also, no price per labor until I got the invoice - DOES $597.00 PER HOUR OF LABOR SOUND FAIR? They also sent my late bill (they did not require me to pay at the time of service as they'd stated - more to send the excessive bill later). The owner denigrated home inspectors when I told him the inspector said I needed it done. He wouldn't have been in my house if I hadn't had an inspector tell me to get a plumber asap. The inspector said the job would be around 1,000.00; instead, my bill was over $2,000.00. I'm a single woman and am underemployed currently and they sent my bill to their attorneys!! I was forced to pay and have been so obviously taken advantage of. I don't know how the owner sleeps at night.

The work was done competently. However, when we called for an estimate, we were told they wouldn't give an estimate but it was $100/hr. We figured about 3-4 hours at most. Two plumbers showed up, and I can understand why some tasks just go faster with two people working together. They were at our house 3.5 hours. When they billed us for 6 hours I was floored! As it turned out, they charged us for their travel time to and from our place, and charged us per worker. (Google maps shows Frook as a 10 minute drive but they called it 20 minutes.) They had not explained that on the phone, and it's hard to imagine that the job would have taken 6 hours (2 hours per faucet!) if it had been only one person. They did have to replace the shut-off valves (unexpected) and that required some parts; I was fine with paying for those parts. But a bill of $750 for 3 faucets seemed really excessive and a surprise. I asked for a time estimate when they arrived and they wouldn't provide it because we had bought the faucets ourselves rather than from Frook. Again I can understand that if we had bought weird, hard to install faucets they didn't want to promise that it would go quickly - odd faucet design might take longer. Yet these were apparently pretty regular faucets that they said they had no problems with. Overall, I felt a little like they figured we were wealthy and could easily afford this so they padded the bill. We are not wealthy.

My sump pumps died on Christmas Day.  I didn?t realize until later that the backup was also dead, so only had the main pump replaced by another company (thinking it was still under warranty).  After realizing that the backup sump pump was indeed dead, I could not get a quote to simply have it replaced.  Instead, other companies wanted to replace it with a water-based backup sump pump which does not require a battery.  Besides the fact that I did not care for the information I was finding out about these water-based units, I simply could not afford the $2,000 price tag.
Of the several plumbng companies that I called, Frook plumbing was the only one willing to look at my situation and try to give me an estimate for work that I could afford.  On January 16, 2015, Steve came out to assess the problem and answer my questions.  I also asked Steve to fix the toilet in the master halfbath that had been ghost flushing for months.  I had not realized exactly what was happening until the first few weeks in December when it was flushing on its own several times each hour. I turned the water to the toilet off to prevent further leaking and higher water bills in December, unsure when I?d be able to have it fixed.  Steve was very polite, answering my questions without making me feel like a dolt for asking.  He fixed the toilet and gave me some advice to check the old battery on my backup sump pump to make sure it was not the problem instead of the pump itself.
Over the next few weeks, I determined that the battery was holding a charge, but was still unsure how long it would last since it was quite old.  I tried to find out what other backup sump pumps were within my budget by researching on the internet.  What I found raised more questions, so I called Frook Plumbing again.  I scheduled another appointment with Steve to see what he could do.  Upon arrival, Steve called his supplier and was able to get the same (but newer) model  backup sump pump, with a new marine gel battery and a digital trickle charger readout for half the cost of the water-based system.
Steve left to retrieve the parts and returned later that same morning, replacing the old equipment and making sure that it was installed and working properly before cleaning up.  The cost wiped out my savings, but at least I didn?t have to take out a loan and try to make payments on my already stressed budget.
I was very happy with the responsiveness of Frook Plumbing and Steve?s courteous service.

The provider was on time and evaluated the problem quickly. Also gave me an accurate estimate. Provided comments and information on the replacement disposal I had purchased. The job was completed efficiently and effectively the same day. I was billed shortly after the work was completed and mailed a check to Frook Plumbing. One important note is that Frook was recommended by several friends as being reliable, reasonable and high quality. I found those recommendations to be true. I will trust Frook with future plumbing work.

Very impressed! When we called, he actually advised us to contact the city first so we wouldn't need to pay a plumber if it was a problem on their end. The blockage ended up being tree root in the sewer line in our yard. They handled it quickly and professionally and we thought the price was very reasonable. I have been recommending them to all of my friends ever since!!!
