Had the engine replaced on my 2009 Pontiac vibe in December 2015 at Feldman. Car ran correctly for a short period of time but continued to have issues. Car was at Feldman for service for multiple issues during 2016, never once was the engine they had replaced mentioned as a potential issue. Finally took the car to another shop in February 2017 when the car stopped working completely and would no longer start. That mechanic told me the engine would have to be replaced again, approx. 14 months after Feldman's replacement. At this point I called Feldman and they told me the used engine they put in had a 12 month warranty that had just ended so there was nothing they could do. I always felt I had been treated well by the team at Feldman but it appears I was taken advantage of. I would urge other customers to avoid their service center.

I have been going there for years. Their service is excellent. I think they were good. I prefer to wait because I know it's not going to be too much. There are cheap places to do automotive services, but quite often the service isn't as good as Kouts. I am extremely satisfied with the price.

I purchased a brand new 2012 Chevy Malibu from Bud Kouts in May of that year. Starting in October of 2014 I started having problems with the vehicle not starting. I would be at a gas station, fill the tank and when I went to start the car to leave it would not start. After a few tries it would start and everything seemed fine. It was very random and infrequent. Then in early November 2014, my family and I were traveling to the Northern Michigan area when we stopped at a gas station to pick up a few things. We did not get gas. However, when we came back out to the car it would not start. We tried starting it for over 45 minutes before we finally called and had it towed to the nearest Chevy dealership, which was over 30 miles away. Of course as soon as we got to the dealership (which was closed because it was a Saturday afternoon), the car started right up. We left it there anyways and called the service dept. Monday morning. They plugged it into their diagnostics machine and said nothing was throwing a code, and since it was starting, we went back and picked it up and drove home without incident. After we arrived home, I took it into my local dealer (as we had moved between the time we bought the car and present) who also hooked it up to their diagnostics and were unable to find anything wrong with it. I continued to drive it, having infrequent issues with it not starting, but did not leave town with it due to some anxiety of being stranded somewhere far away again. Then one day as I was driving home from work, I turned onto my road, and the transmission went completely out. I coasted it into a park and ride, put it into park, tried drive and reverse, and nothing would work. I turned the car off, restarted it, and it went into gear and I drove the few miles home. The next day I called Bud Kouts and made an appointment to drop the car off for service. I had my husband follow me down, and left it at Bud Kouts. They said it would be a day or two and would call me when they looked at it but did not offer me a loaner car. I went and rented a vehicle. A day or two later they called and said we would have to authorize a $125 charge just to hook the car up to see what was wrong with it, which is ridiculous, especially with the car being newer, less than 45,000 miles on it, and neither of the other Chevy dealerships charged me a fee. A WEEK later, we had to call them to see what was taking so long. They hadn't even had the car in to look at it! I basically paid over $200 for a rental car, and they didn't even pull my car into the garage there. I told them to forget it, went to pick it up and there it was sitting right in the exact spot I parked it a week before. The service person tried to tell me there was a mix up because another lady with a similar name, had come in with a Malibu also so wires got crossed. Nice organizational skills. It only gets better. Over the next month, throughout the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, I am having increasing issues with the vehicle. Stalling at stop lights, transmission missing/slipping to the point where it feels like someone rear ended me, and my rear defrost just stopped working. The day after Christmas, I literally went out to get in the car to drive it back down to Bud Kouts and it would not start! I called a tow truck, and then called Bud Kouts Service dept. and said I was on my way with the car. I explained every single issue and told them that plugging it into a computer was not going to tell them anything because it continued to show no codes. PLUS the car started as soon as I got to Bud Kouts. I demanded a loaner car, and complained to them about my previous visit the month before. They give me a 2015 Chevy Malibu of all things, and then fail to tell me that the new feature on that model year causes the car to power down at all stops (in order to conserve gas/energy) so I pull out of there thinking I have another Malibu with a stalling issue! My vehicle ended up being there for three weeks. All they did was "clean the fuel injectors" and charge me $225.00. We were the ones who had to initiate contact with them throughout those three weeks in order to get status updates. Unless you count me receiving three phone calls from a salesman asking if I'd like to trade it in for less than I owed and upgrade to another Chevy. They never even bothered to address the transmission problem, which I'm sure is because the warranty still applied to that issue. Nor did they fix the rear defrost. I ended up replacing the fuse myself for that, which was literally melted. I picked it up, paid them, immediately traded it in for a Ford. I will NEVER again by a car, or request any service work from them.

A family member used a garage in Mason for his car repairs. He recommended this repair shop. I called the garage and talked to the owner named Scott for an estimate before considering an appointment.

Because my son and I live in Lansing, and garage was in Mason; it was a bit of an inconvenience. But we got a good report about this repair shop. Also when my son had major car repair on 7/14, I had to follow him because I found out that this garage doesn't have a lobby area - it's just a garage. While I was there I talked with Scott and made an appointment for my car repair.

After Scott repaired my car he called me, said he was done, and that I could pick it up. We drove back to Mason. I paid the $491.98. He did say that there might be some noise but don’t worry about, it’s because I didn’t buy new struts to go with the coils. He made it sound like I was breaking up a set. When I called other dealerships to get a quote, they never mentioned this problem.

When I pulled out I noticed right away a grinding noise. I thought “Maybe the coils just need to be broken in and will stop making the noise after a while.”

Over a month’s time the grinding got worse and worse as I would turn my steering wheel either way and also, for some reason, when I applied my brakes they now squealed. My brakes were fine before going to this garage. I was so disappointed with having had to take time off from work for this repair, paying a large amount of money, and for Scott saying that any noise my car now makes should be fine.

I searched on the Internet and found out that a REALLY good Chevy dealership was in Novi called Liberty Chevrolet. They had an excellent reputation. I called them and was told they just bought Bud Kouts Chevrolet here in Lansing. So I made an appointment with Bud Kouts for 9/16.

On 9/16 my service rep. at Bud Kouts was Mike. I explained the work that Scott did and how my car is acting now. Mike said their mechanic would check it out and he would give me a call to let me know what they found.

Mike called me about an hour later and said the coils were installed improperly. There was good news; they can still use the new coils I had just bought from Scott last month. That will save me $200. Mike explained that the reason the coils were grinding was because they weren’t set in correctly causing one to grind against a wheel well and the other to grind against a “cup,” that the coil was sitting in. I ended up paying over $600 to reinstall the coils and align them.

Also Bud Kouts found a back coil dangling and asked me if I wanted that repaired. My back coil and strut had rusted through. Of course I said yes. I’m not sure if I should be bothered that Scott didn’t notice the damage or be grateful that he didn’t notice so wouldn’t have installed those parts incorrectly as well.

Finally, Mike said that when coils are replaced they need overnight to settle before aligning them. They would do the alignment tomorrow and then I could pick up my car. Scott on the other hand, had me pick up my car on the same day he installed the coils and did an alignment.

Oh, Bud Kouts has a waiting area and courtesy van so in the future I could stay and wait for less complicated repairs and maintenance; also, I can be taken to work and not have to use leave time.

Gong to Bud Kouts was a and quot;breath of fresh airand quot; compared to the Mason garage and Scott. Right away I could tell they knew what they were doing; they were completely professional and pleasant to work with. I can definitely recommend Bud Kouts Chevrolet of Lansing.
