Gary was on top of the job from start to finish. I've never seen someone who sweats the details the way he did. That's good because I learned that pouring a concrete driveway isn't simple. There are many important steps that go into good design in order to have a driveway that drains properly, looks great and can stand up to weather. We got all of that with Gary. His work was outstanding and we now have a beautiful new driveway that has increased the value of our home. It was a major investment but I wouldn't try to save money and risk getting some shoddy work from the lowest bidder. Gary is someone you can trust to give you a fair price and do the job right.

Gary Szymanski was prompt and completed his work based on his estimate. In less than a week, Gary coordinated the installation of our driveway. He kept us informed through each phase: framing, grading, pouring the cement, and
forming the driveway. Gary takes pride in his work and he does the little things that make him exceptional like completing all the framework the day before pouring the cement, making sure that all his workers stayed on track and completed their jobs for each phase, preparing the area and providing the supplies for the next day. Gary connected the driveway to an existing walkway to form an easy transition. He also covered our car in the garage and the brick facing of our garage with plastic to prevent any cement from splashing on the surfaces. It is rare to find someone that is dedicated to his job and sets a high standard for his work. The finished product is a true testament to his hard work.

There is not one puddle in that drive! He did so well we then had him pour some sidewalks. After that, we decided to have a front porch poured. His work is amazing. He and his crew are very professional, hard working, honest people. He is definnitely our contractor of choice. We are now waiting on a bid for a garage from Gary.

Gary and his crew tore out my old asphalt driveway and concrete sidewalks leading to the front and side doors of my home and replaced them with new, high-quality concrete. He is meticulous in his work. His preparation of the site was excellent. He made sure that I was satisfied with how the forms looked before he poured concrete. He did a beautiful job. He is a true craftsman in working with concrete. His crew was hardworking and easy to work with. My next door neighbor was so impressed that he hired Gary to put in a new driveway and sidewalk. Gary's bid was not the lowest bid, but it was competitive with the other bids that I received.

The job went according to plan. They did an outstanding job of removing the old asphalt drive and then poured a new concrete one. The attention to detail was outstanding as well. He was able to put a beautiful border around the perimeter of the driveway, which makes it stand out from others in the neighborhood. The brush strokes and saw lines are perfect. He and his crew were focused on delivering quality workmanship from beginning to end.

I have submitted this review 3 times. Why is it not published? I want to thank this company for its good work and I keep getting messages from Angie's List to complete this review.

I have used Szymanski Construction on 3 separate occasions.
My first experience was in 99 when Gary and crew poured a foundation for my
stick build barn. Area building code required 18” rat wall, I went with 24” and
9’ walls on the barn. My barn is a gambrel style with a second level. The floor
still looks great today accept the small slab in front of the entrance door,
which I think is due to the water running directly off the roof of the
building. I has been pitting for the last couple of years. I finished the
building myself and my helper remarked how easy it was because the walls were
so straight and square.
We had Szymanski Construction return 2 years later (2001) and
pour a driveway with a 2 car parking area. Again the drive way still looks
great today 11 years later. I had several people stop when I was out in the
yard and remark how nice it looks; like a runway at an airport. I did have the
very first section at the road drop about 1” in 1998 at the cut to control the
cracks, but not until I had the second section crack right down the middle did
I decide to replace it. I had on 3 different occasions catch the local utility company’s
park their heavy tandem axel trucks on my driveway. Michigan Gas Utilities and
Consumers Energy employees don’t care about your property or they would know
not to park such rigs on concrete driveways. Anyways the driveway wasn’t built
for heavy trucks so now in 2012 I have the 2 sections (about 20’) removed and
re-poured at 6” in depth and with fiber to help strengthen the concrete. Gary
had Link Brothers come out and remove the old driveway, and tamp down the
foundation for the new approach. He even windowed boxed the new pour and it
looks great. I followed up with Brad’s Driveway and Septic to add some asphalt
at the crack between the driveway and the paved road. They also did a very nice
job.
I am very proud of my driveway and will say this about Gray
Szymanski Construction: He is not the cheapest, nor was he the most expensive.
But he is particular about his work and we have away been satisfied with his
services. I highly recommend Gary for concrete drives, slabs, stamping and pole
barns.

Gary came out and spent a good deal of time talking with us about what we wanted and then offering his professional opinion when requested. Gary strives for perfection and our amazing new concrete patio is proof!
