Erie Construction Midwest - Grand Rapids

I like the windows. The windows are pretty decent. They were professional when they were here. My interactions were good except I had an issue they were supposed to come back and take care of, but they never did. They just kept giving me a number to call. They sent someone here to follow up, but when I said something they couldn't fix the problem then. They said call this number. I'm not sure how to grade price because I'm not sure what other people are charging.

What a mess. The gutters leaked all the time. They did come out one time and state that the gutters "do that" and when we tried to get them to come back out, they just never returned our calls. The sales guy was great, the service was bad. The insulation guy was late without any notice, but at least he made up for it by adding some extra insulation above our garage, and he apologized. The gutters were embarrassing for the money we spent. Do yourselves a favor and find a different place of business.

Erie not only made it price possible for us but the workers could not have been better.they cleaned up at the end of every day , and treated our house as if it where their own. We are so happy and the roof looks GREAT !!!!!!!

It went so well! The crew that came out was great to work with, let us know as soon as they saw anything problematic and explained the next steps they were taking to correct them so we weren't too overwhelmed by the whole process. And they got the whole thing done in three days! They cleaned everything up so we don't have to worry about our dog finding anything or popping a tire on a loose nail. I couldn't recommend Erie Construction more.

Really good

Erie did a wonderful job on both my picture window and my roof. Even during super cold weather, these guys were out on the roof top gettting everything squared away. This project took three days total between the roof and window. I am very pleased with both projects and will be hiring them again for future work that will be done to my home.

A salesman was walking around our neighborhood and noticed that our roof had a few shingles cupping. We talked about it and agreed to have one of their professional roofers come out and give a free inspection. Once the roof was inspected they were very honest with us about the condition of the roof and we actually did not need a new roof yet. However, the attic was not venting properly, as was evident by some previous conditions we already knew about, and they offered to install a new solar-powered fan in the attic that would automatically regulate the airflow. They also showed us their eShield product to help during the hot summers, and we decided to have that installed as well. This all occured in the middle of a snowy winter, and their installer still came out and installed everything very quickly and professionally. He even climbed on top of the roof with a foot of snow on it to install the solar-powered fan. They also gifted us with a new Nest Learning Thermostat, which has been a great addition to our home as well. I was very pleased with the work performed by Erie Construction. The whole process from sales, installation, and completion follow-up was handled in a professional manner.

Great! Everything went good, windows were custom made for us just the way we wanted them to look. Erie was flexible and made it work with our budget. The installer guys were dedicated to installing those windows despite the snowy weather, they cleaned up as they went, and they were very friendly. Everyone at Erie we worked with along the way was friendly. They were not making it up when they said it can affect the temperature of your house. Our house is significantly warmer and retaining MUCH more heat than before - I can't even believe how much of a difference this made. Totally worth it.

They were excellent. On time, very thorough, finished in a timely fashion. We are very pleased with our new windows. They have made a huge difference in sound and warmth.

Excellent. The guys arrived when they said they would, barring the weather and stayed until they were finished even though it was dark before they were done. The mess from the roof removal was kept to a minimum, nothing was broken and they cleaned up very well.

Work went excellent. Contractor was neat and efficient. Worked quickly and communicated each step as he progressed. Seeking my input on any decisions needing to be made in process.

The project on the average was very good. Communication was very good and attention to detail was excellent. All people involved in making our project possible were very professional, knowledgeable, polite and respectful. The installer of the cabinets was outstanding! To sum it up we are very pleased and would definitely recommend Erie Construction to others.

The windows were made to order, so they were able to remove our old windows and the new ones fit exactly into the old openings. Even with such a large job they were able to finish everything in one day. Everyone I interacted with was very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. I would have them do work for me again if I need it in the future.

Both the installation of our windows and our countertop went beautifully. The Erie construction crew were friendly, professional and thorough. The quality that Erie puts into their products is carried on in their installation. I can't speak highly enough of Erie. From the first conversation and quote to the finished product Erie is simply amazing. I would recommend them to anyone. Matter of fact I did and now every window in my parents home is from Erie construction.

They do a lot of advertising on the TV, but we were not happy with their work.  If I would rate their price from 1 to 10 where 10 being high, I would say they were probably 9, so they were quite high.  We would not have them back again.  They left things undone.  Not completely undone, but they were subpart.  They should not have leave it that way.  There was something loose in our doorknob, and our doorbell was taken off and never put back on.  The guy came back out, looked at everything, and said, "Yep, you are right.  That is loose in there", but they never did anything else.

The company's sales person was polite and helpful, but was also very pushy with his spiel and the sale.  The spiel took over 2 hours and finalizing the sale took over an hour.  The quality of the windows was above average, but not on par with other companies that sell windows that are in the same price range. 
The installation was a disaster.  A previous company had installed a couple other windows in our house from the outside.  Those windows look great and perform exceptionally.  To this day we regret not paying the extra money to have those windows installed in the rest of the house instead of Erie's windows. 
Erie demanded that they only install their windows from the inside.  I asked the installer to install from the outside, but he said that was not possible.  Our house had very old hardwood trim around the inside of the window frames and the installer broke the trim on almost every window during it's removal.  He was then forced to replace that old trim with crappy pine trim that did not come close to matching the old trim.  This new trim looked terrible next to the old trim still on the other windows and forced us to repaint all the window frames.  When completed there were two windows did not fit snugly up against the window sill so the installer used caulk to fill those cracks.  After the installation, we had wind coming through the cracks around those two windows.  Eventually, the caulking shrank and the cracks between the sill and windows were very obvious and looked very unprofessional.
When the installation supervisor come out to look at the installation we requested that they fix the problems, but the supervisor stated that the installation was done correctly to their standards and that no remediation of the problems would be done.  He said that we could contact his manager, but when we attempted to get hold of that manager he was never available to talk to us and never returned our calls.

Went very bad.  Started with them telling me they sold me the wrong cabinets.  (The old bait and switch)  Wanted me to pay for more expensive ones.  I refused.  They ripped everything out of my kitchen and then I didn't see them for a month.  Couldn't use my stove.  My refrigerator was in my dinning room and I had to do my dishes in the bathroom for a month!  When they did come back the work they did was shoddy.  Where they tore out the wall and some of the cabinets they repaired the ceiling, but you can tell exactly where the holes are.  Very nasty looking.  The crown molding is patched together.  The sink was an undermount sink and they installed it on top of the countertop.  They put the refrigerator in the wrong place.  Then they told me they couldn't do the floor and would give me a credit.   They were supposed to leave me the hardware for the cabinets, but they didn't do that either. It took them over three months to "complete" a job they said would take two weeks and it never did get done.  When I complained they never made an effort to "make it right".

The estimate process was a grueling experience.  Once these guys  get in the door they don't take "no" for an answer.  The estimate process was over 5 hours long.  It looked like a quality product so I said "yes." 
The trouble is, they keep calling after the work is finished.  They don't call to check if I am satisfied with the work.  No!  They are trying for more business.  " We noticed that your garage roof is old, let me send someone for an estimate."  I said "no" to that one.  But they still call all the time.  I know, because I have them on my list of callers to not answer, and I don't answer.
