that enhanced our landscaping project. His crew is highly professional and very efficient.
The old, disintegrating sandstone retaining walls are gone, replaced by boulders - an attractive mixture of sizes from humungous on down. The neighborhood shook on the day the boulders came. The new walls are not merely 90 degree structures. They are artfully layered with plantings on both levels. I believe the layers give it graceful lines.
The plants were chosen by Jim to withstand drought – and are surviving even through the current conditions.
The rotting railroad tie steps are replaced by tinted (adobe yellow) concrete steps and a sturdy, stylish bronze-toned railing. Not fussy, just smart looking. From the steps, the walkway divides into two narrower walkways, also of tinted concrete.
Over the first winter a single crack appeared in one of the walkways. Jim's solution was genius. He cut and removed a section – about 20”x36” – and replaced it with a dark bronze tinted concrete section. He cut our house numbers from brass and embedded the numbers in the concrete while it was still wet. The new section is finished and it's beautiful. He truly 'made lemondade', as they say. Admirable, too, was how he used ethics to solve the problem. He simply asked himself what he would want if he were the homeowner. And then he did it.
