They replaced the freon. They were able to come and extend the life of a 25 year old air conditioner.  They came right out.

We get an annual maintenance from them, they have replaced our water heaters, furnace and air conditioners for us. This service they replaced our 25 year old water heater. They were timely , they cleaned up, and they removed the old one. I was happy, I wish it wasn't so expensive but that goes with everything.

It was less than what we expected. Their prices have been competitive. I would absolutely use them again in the future.

Since the EM Sergeant tech identified the problem as no power to the furnace right away, our electrician temporarily moved the heater to another fuse so that the EM Sergeant tech could check over the furnace. He told us that he cleaned it up. He recommended that we get a new filter, and we said we'd do that ourselves. He told us the furnace looked good. The service was fine, but I find the fee of $70 to show up and $80 to check over the furnace exorbitant. He apparently gave us a discount on the normal furnace servicing charge. It works out to over $200/hour. $70 total would have been acceptable. $100 is steep in my mind. I can't see how the fee is justifiable and next time will try another provider. Maybe Sergeant could come so promptly (compared to another, more highly rated company that I called) because they turn off potential customers with their over-the-top prices.

I thought the extra charge for installation was over the top, but that's not my complaint. Later that day I heard a soft whistling sound coming from the furnace. This was due to the door on the filter housing not having been completely closed. And I couldn't close the door myself because the technician had inserted the unit upside down. When I pulled the filter holder out to turn it around, I noticed that in several places the accordion folds of the filter had not been separated into their own spaces making the filter less efficient. I removed the filter completely and reinserted it with the proper spacing. I guess the tech was in a hurry. This is a simple task that I will do myself in the future (took me all of seven minutes). I still intend to use the services of this company because on the whole they have prooved quite reliable. Everyone is entitled to an off day, but I was very disappointed.

E. M. Sergeant telephoned me about a month later (having seen Angie's List, which they occasionally check) and asked me how they could address my grievance. Although I said that no compensation was necessary or expected, I was surprised to find a package containing a new furnace filter on my front porch a few days later. As I mentioned earlier, everyone is entitled to an off-day--so long as there aren't too many of them.

After several visits and parts ordering the fireplace was working. Company actually charged me the wholesale price for the parts and only an initial service fee. Was very please with the outcome.

I called E.M. Sergeant to clean one furnace and replace another furnace in another property. The lethargic service tech showed up, looked at the system and after 30 seconds let me know I needed a new fan motor. I asked for a price and said I'd need to think on it. He then begin packing his things as though he was leaving. I kindly let him know that I was paying for a cleaning and that I would like to get the system cleaned. After rushing through a rather feeble cleaning he asked for the $69 dollars for the service, I told him I'd rushed out the door and only grabbed a hundred dollar bill and could be credited the difference or could get change to which he replied and quot;I don't have time for that, I've already spent too much time here. We'll send you a billand quot;.

So, for my $69 I got a 5 no 7 minute cleaning that consisted of the tech using a paint brush sweeping motion and blowing air with his mouth on the burners. Worst $69 I've ever spent. If the tech is going to rush through a cleaning there's no telling what damage he'll do when attempting to install a new system. !!!KEEP AWAY!!!

"After reading this client's complaint I called him directly and learned more about what happened. I agreed that we did not provide him value, apologized and waived all his charges. I also thanked him for his feedback and let him know that he could contact me directly at any time to discuss any future issues. Pete Woodruff, President, 269-343-1363"

My husband woke up at 2:30 AM and noticed that it was very cold in the house. At 5:30 AM, he got up and checked our fairly new programmable thermostat to make sure it was working and determined that our approx. 25 year old gas furnace was out. At 7:32 AM, after reviewing Angie's List, we selected and called E.M. Sergeant for a service call. Their phone message said they opened at 7:30 AM and directed us to leave a voice mail message for the emergency technician (ET). The ET called us back within 15 minutes. He said we were second on his list of stops, but he would be here as quickly as possible. He (Duane) arrived at our home at 9:12 AM, and went downstairs to look at the furnace. It took him only 5 minutes to find the problem! He had the necessary part in his van, replaced it and was done with the repairs by 9:46 AM. Our bill was $115.00 ($70 diagnostic fee and $45 repair cost). Before he walked out the door, heat was coming out the register vents and we were quite happy with the overall experience. Duane was prompt, professional and courteous, and obviously a skilled technician who knew how to get the job done! We will call E.M. Sergeant if we have similar need in the future.

Sergeant had put in a new furnace and AC a year ago and i was very happy with them. I needed to move a shed out of the yard and the only way to do it was to disconnect the AC compressor and move it out of the way. I went in and asked for an estimate. They looked up what they had put in and said the charge would be 300.00. I agreed and set an appointment. They came out and removed the unit and two weeks later came back out and put it back in place. I recieved a bill for 650.00..more then twice the estimate!!! I called the salesman that i had worked with in buying the furnace and he was not at all helpfull and said there was nothing he could do and that i needed to talk with the man in charge of the service department. I called many times and he was never there and never returned my calls. In the mean time i recieved invoices with interest. I was never able to get satisfation and will never ever use them again as i really would never trust them again.

"Even good companies make mistakes, and this is certainly one of ours. We agree with most of what the member said in his review and have a call into him to try to make it right. It was a time and material job for temporarily moving his condensing unit so that he could move something out of his back yard. Based on a similar job we had performed recently for another client, our salesman told him that the price should be around $300. We ran into an unexpected complication - that we needed to recharge his system with refrigerant after the reinstall - and instead of communicating that issue to him we simply completed the work and billed him. Although it was technically a time a materials job, we should have found a way to stick close to the estimate. I am especially concerned that he wasn't able to get a response from us when he called to discuss his concerns. We are reviewing our internal systems to insure that doesn't happen again. And although I wish he would have called me (the owner) when he couldn't get a response from my team, I can't blame him for getting frustrated and giving up. We value his business and would like to earn his trust again, starting by resolving this situation to his satisfaction. Sincerly, Pete Woodruff Owner Pete Woodruff President E. M. Good. We bought house about 2-1/2 years ago and knew furnace was over 25 years old and could go on us anytime. They provided us with a quote at that time. Finally, the heat exchanger started leaking, so they quoted again, a few different options, with and without AC. Their salesman was the only one who we had provide a quote who advised to just wait for the AC to die before replacing it. I always have a little higher comfort level when a company advises against a service that would make them more money. Their prices were less for comparative models than other local heating/AC companies. Decided to go with their 93% furnace. Just after we signed 1/2-down check, we realized that the furnace was 2-stage, but NOT a 2-speed fan. This was weird...only company with that combination. They offered to let us back out, but we decided to go ahead since the price was still a bit less than other companies. I think the single speed fan may be part of the reason it was less than other companies 92-93% models. Anyway, it seems to be heating much more uniformly between upstairs and main floor than old furnace, so not a big deal, and our utility bill is pretty reasonable, so we should be good (especially since our old furnace was a dinosaur, probably 60% or so!). They did a great job on install, it looks very clean and professional, they got some peripherals updated to code and cleaned up nicely before leaving.

A/C inoperative, Same day response (within 3 hours on a Monday). Found further work needed and scheduled appt. next day. Cleaned furnace, inspected and charged A/C (slow leak) After the service they had at my request another rep call me to discuss options on A/C system repair/replacement (A/C works now but will need repair). Great techs, straight forward and honest. Highly recommended!!
