It went well and they worked hard although we thought the price was a little high for the amount of work done. Over all we are satisfied with the results.

Dan Spears, of Mackinaw Landscaping, came out, measured, listened to what we wanted, and a few days later sent us a proposed landscape plan. When we signed the contract, he said it would be about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks before he could get to it, depending upon weather. I figured that would actually mean 3 1/2 to 4 weeks. It was 2 1/2 weeks. It took about 3 days to do, just as he said. The plantings were attractive, with lots of variety. He was pleasant to be around, and worked steadily.

Mackinaw Landscaping, was very good at communicating with me. They showed up when they said that they would and did a good job removing my 18-year old shrubs. They installed some new boxwoods, and did a very professional job installing edging. They also fixed a drain pipe, trimmed a shrub, and installed some stone mulch. The job site was cleaned up thoroughly. I would recomend Mackinaw Landscaping.

We have used Dan's services in the past and I knew that he would do what needed to be done for an honest and reasonable price. Dan and his wife, Sue, communicate well and kept me informed of schedules and what to expect on each visit. Dan sent a nice thank you note to follow up when the job was done. I will continue to hire Mackinaw Landscaping for our future needs!

Instillation went fine but now after two years trees are starting to die and he just blames it on me for over watering. That is odd since in a row of three trees some are doing just fine with the same watering. Not my idea of good customer service.

I waited to write this review because I wanted to see how my yard looked like when spring arrived.  I can tell you I was very pleased and satisfied.  I have gotten numerous comments on how well my yard looks.  The guys were always on time and available to discuss progress.  Any small issues were handled professionally.  I made a good choice and will not have any problem recommending them.

Dan did a fantastic job planning and implementing a significant update to my long-neglected back yard. His ideas were spot on and fit within my aesthetic preferences and budget. He was flexible when I asked for a last-minute change. The price was more than fair. Communication was frequent and thorough. The work was done quickly, cleanly, and I'm very happy with the results. Everything went well. Dan did what he promised in the timeframe that he promised. If there were any questions before, during or after the work communication went well through email. His wife, Sue, aided in the communication and correspondence. I found Dan and Sue to be very knowledgeable, and competent.

We were looking to fix our leaning retaining wall in our front yard and update the surrounding landscaping that was overgrown. We found Dan on Angie's List. Dan was prompt to provide an estimate and schedule the project. He spent the time asking us questions and presented all options to us. Prior to the job start, we walked through the proposal once again in detail.

Every day the site was left clean and everything was picked up nicely. They've done an outstanding job and have exceeded our expectations! After the project was complete, Dan took the time to walk us through the work that was done. We would highly recommend Mackinaw Landscaping!

I contacted Dan Spear's after reading the reviews on Angie's List. I was in the process of taking bids. He was the first person I called. I left a message on voicemail and he responded that day. After talking to him I had pretty much made up my mind that he would be who we hired. He made an appointment to come out the following Saturday at 8:30 am. He was there at 8:30 am. Promptness rates high on my list of hiring criteria. He talked to my husband regarding what would be necessary to accomplish our objective, which was to stop the erosion of our yard. Dan said he would send us a quote in about a week. Within the week we had a quote. I felt comfortable not taking any other bids. I didn't know if the bid was high or not but I felt from the start that he is honest, hardworking, and competent.  I had some questions on the quote and called Dan, left a message again and he responded within a couple of hours. He answered my questions and I gave him the go ahead to start the job but had some minor changes. He agreed to the changes and another quote was emailed to us. Everything in writing is the way his company works. Dan was very forthcoming from the first contact that he would not be able to do the work for 6-8 weeks out. That worked for us. I received a contract in the mail for signatures and a request for a deposit. About a week before he would be starting our job his wife emailed us to tell us when Dan would be out. On the day the work was started he and his crew arrived at 8:30 am. They worked continuously until the work was completed at about 2:30 pm. He left without payment and sent us an invoice for the balance owing. Since he and his wife were so clear from the very beginning about details we had no questions and sent him a check. We are happy with the work that Dan and his workers did and it looks wonderful.

We hired Mackinaw to install three trees and a couple bushes in our yard.  They went over and above what we hired them to do.  Seeing that we were going to struggle dealing with a big patch of dirt on one side of our house, Dan brought over a tractor and some seed to help us get things off on the right foot.  Overall, really a great experience and an absolute pleasure to do business with.  We plan on hiring them again next season.

Dan understood exactly what I was looking to do with our yard. His prices were fair, he and his staff were extremely hard working, prompt and finished the job quickly and expertly. Very happy with the service, and would gladly hire them again for future work.

We had Dan design a new look for our front landscape.  We had many old bushes,trees and rocks to be removed.  The new design looks wonderful! We also added large evergreen trees to front yard.  In addition, we had Dan add a row of bushes to our side lot line.  Dan and his crew were prompt, informative and did daily cleanup by our front porch.  Dan kept in touch with emails, and phone calls until the job was done! Very hard working on a large project  We have received many compliments from neighbors and friends.  We were given very clear instructions on how to maintain all the plantings.
