Mark is very professional and trustworthy. He gives you a fair estimate and the total cost comes very close to it, with the exceptions of things we both agreed needed adding. I've hired him in the past and will do so again in the future. I am comfortable giving him my garage door opener so he can come and go as he needs and I do not have to be home. He will work until the job is done.

Mastrangelo Painting was able to paint my house sooner than originally quoted. All work was done timely and expertly. As the painting was progressing, I decided the color I had picked out was not to my liking. Mark was very courteous dealing with me and my color change. A new color was picked out, ordered, and work continued. The project only took one extra day due to my color change request. Very satisfied with how my house now looks. Mark and Chris were wonderful to work with.

Doing a remodel of a mid century modern that was my parents transition house in Jackson Michigan. Checking reviews Mark has high scores and a lot of reviews where others did not. I reached out to Mark on one of my visits to Michigan and he stopped by to provide a quote. He handed me pages of references and after speaking to him I just knew this was the guy. He painted the entire inside of the home, painted and installed quarter rounds, new door hardware, hinges and exterior trim and gutters with colors my wife chose. He was able to make 60 year old bedroom doors look new. And a room with crappy paneling look like it was drywall. Mark takes pride in his work, he kept me updated via text since I reside in Texas, does not accept payment up front but upon completion and a side note: Mark does NOT use email, he writes out his estimates (took about a week) and he uses his smart phone to text or call. If you are serious about having quality work performed than pickup your phone and call Mark.

All went very well. Mark and Chris were very conscientious of our home and the detail in their work. They cleaned up after the work was done and finished much sooner than I expected. We are extremely happy with the job!! I forgot to mention that Mark helped me with the color selection...everything flows and blends perfectly!! They are coming back in the Spring to do the exterior of our home.

Great job! Lots of attention to detail. Also provided good advice on color choices. Mark really takes pride in his work. I highly recommend them. Not the lowest quote but worth the extra money.

The thing that made this repair difficult is the visible surface is heavily textured with no random pattern.  This texture is so unique that another excellent painter declined to even bid because he knew he couldn't match it.  Mark did such a good job it is truly undetectable. It is not possible to describe what the texture looked like because it truly is random and appears to be an original style of the first workman back in the late 20's.

When we first moved into this wonderful home we needed to repaint everything because we wanted to take the home back to its original

period style and reclaim some of its original grandeur.  The formal dining room and living room have the most ornate, complicated and truly wonderful plaster work and trim in the home.  In the dining room surrounding the chandelier is a finely detailed Fleur-de-lis with grapes clusters, vines and leaves, a theme which is also echoed around the entire ceiling border.  The living room is similar in detail except the theme is more of an autumn style.   When Mark first walked in and saw the incredible detail and quality of the plasterwork he asked us to "let him play" between doing the other more routine painting that needed to be done.  He tried several different techniques but just wasn't happy until he discovered he could create a more realistic and "living" effect by doing each grape and leaf cluster by using his finger on each item, results were incredible and have lasted 11 years and still look as good today as when completed.  I have gone to great length to describe this particular job to demonstrate that Mark is not just a good painter but when pressed is capable of true originality.

I'm sure your thinking what was the cost of this "creativity"?  Following the well tested axiom of "you get what you pay for" Mark is certainly not the least expensive nor happily is he the most expensive.  In fact we have often found his cost well below our expectations or budget because often his experience allows him to do things faster than some others resulting in less cost and disruption.

If Mark is available he is an excellent choice for both routine and special projects plus he cleans up after himself very well.

In 2 1/2 + weeks, he transformed our home and our lives!.  We are thrilled.  He went far beyond the quality and attention to detail compared to 2 other contractors we met.  At no time did they mention paint quality, caulking, priming or make recommendations about color themes.  They did not mention that the oak paneling needing priming or offer us choices of paint quality.  One bid was $500 more than Mark's.  Both contractors told us we had to subcontract the wall repairs and border removal.  The other bid was for just $1500.  We were told it would be completed in about 2 days with workers who were not professional painters. Mark, on the other hand, offered recommendations and ideas for colors and decorating ideas and assured us he would do all the repairs and paper removal.  We had Mark before and were satisfied with the quality, so there was no question that he would do the work.  We had long been embarrassed about ugly paneling, wallpaper and  border residue we couldn't remove and rough kitchen walls.  In general, we were embarrassed about the state of our home. His paint job from 13 years ago stood the test of time, but everyday wear and tear and the old decor was depressing.  NOW, our home now has a beautiful flow of color from one room to the next.  The trim is all white and makes the gray color theme looks fresh and classic. The paneling looks great with the light gray and white trim which made the room much brighter and more inviting.  We did an accent wall in the living room a color called Danube Blue   which is very dramatic and complements the medium gray walls.  He used a ceramic-based paint called "Graham Flat" on the walls which can be easily cleaned with water and a little soap if needed.  It has a nice texture and a lush appearance. We've always used semi-gloss paint because of our kids and pets and are glad to trade in the shiny look of semi-gloss with another easy to clean and "adult" finish.  We now have oil-based trim paint which is very easy to clean.  He also did a lot of extra work such as repairing our screen door and bedroom door, surprised us and painted several doors, gave the front door a new look to match our exterior brick, painted the bathroom cabinets, helped us move furniture from 4 rooms to prepare for the flooring contractor and painted our basement bathroom at no charge.  He added ceiling trim to a couple of rooms which really finished them off.  Even the ugly oak paneled bathroom looks great with a new coat of light gray paint! . He and his assistant respected our home and schedule and kept their work areas clean.  He even took our golden retriever, Bailey, outside for potty breaks when we weren't home (Bailey has since put in a request for a sleep-over at Mark's house!).   Once our wood floors are refinished in 2 weeks, with a contractor he highly recommended, we'll have him return to add 1/4 round to the new floors.  As I said in the beginning, he transformed our home and our lives!!  Choose Mark Mastrangelo, a painting magician.
