"[Member Name Removed], I obviously do not follow Angie’s list closely. For that I am sorry to be responding so late. I’m sorry for the poor experience. I do though feel this is not an accurate review. Yes you are a repeat customer that is placing a review on a 1 negative experience. I felt that I spent time with you explaining different options as well as why I like our product better. I apologize this door did not fulfill what you were looking for. As far as the garage weather stripping we could have come and fixed it correctly. Sometimes mistakes do happen. Which leads me into the frat boy part of the review. I am not sure who this is in reference to. I often do take a honest approach to men and women. I discuss many things such as kids and work. In your case I recall you were a professor at my alma mater. And your son went to a local university which was why you moved to your current home. I might be wrong with all of this. I do try to create a relationship with people and try to build from that. I feel that typically people respond better to that approach. I sincerely apologize for any confusion and I am embarrassed that I might have made you feel that way."
Eight windows replaced cost $3200.
David was easy to work with and good about answering the questions we had. Emails were answered very quickly. The work took a while to be completely finished as the subcontractor that was doing the work seems to have left the company and it appeared there was communication issues between him and Vanderlaan, leading Vanderlaan to believe the work was done. We were pretty much just waiting on finishing touches and once we emailed David he got a crew out the next day to finish up. He took $200 off the bill for our trouble.
He came down and told me that it was not Vermiculite but Rock-wool. I was hesitant but he offered to have it tested and send me some info about the differences. He email me me some links that went against his conclusion. I told him that from the stuff he sent it was clearly Vermiculite. He still offered to have it tested and to give me a call.
I waited a week and emailed him, but he did not respond. I waited another week and then called their main offices and left a message with the secretary. He still never called back. I don't know if he was just embarrassed or busy, but I found this to be frustrating and a waste of my time. I got estimates from a few other companies that had no problem returning my calls.
While this is possibly an honest mistake, their attitude was absolutely disappointing. In the end we had them come out to install the window for us as it is constructed differently than the old window and we didn't want to do any damage in the process! :)
After waiting all this time for a replacement window, we had hoped for a sincere apology at least.
We felt that the sloppiness of their record keeping and general and quot;it's not my faultand quot; attitude
will drive us to take our business elsewhere in the future.
"There was a sincere apology to the Meyerings. The order came mis labeled and we had no idea what it was for. I apologized for this and explained why we wouldn't have known. I believe Mrs. Meyering found this to be an excuse. But when here husband came in to get the part we showed him the bill from the manufacturer for the part and also the mis labeled PO. At that time he was more than understanding. We later received a call from the Meyerings that the could not fix the issue themselves. We then withing 48 hrs serviced them and billed them for that service $35. We do try to service our own work and materials. Although all material warranties are thru the manufacturer and there is a process that needs to be followed. we have since done other services for the Meyerings hopefully which have resulted in a more positive representation of our Company."
