Everything went well.  They were punctual, professional and did not charge for the estimate. We just haven't pulled the trigger yet because our 15 year old water heater is still working.

They pulled out all the copper pipe supplying the hose connections, which was perfectly good, and replaced it with plastic.  They took the copper pipe with them when they left.  When the hose connections lost their water supply on June 17th this year we called Pete Black to have them find out what the problem was.  Beginning on June 17th, we called Pete Black 5 times within 12 days.  The first time we were told by the woman answering the phone that she would have Pete call us back.  Each time after that she told us that all she could do was pass the message along.  We finally called another plumber.  The day we had an appointment with the 2nd plumber, Pete Black finally returned our call.  We have since been informed that the price we paid for the original work by Pete Black was very high for the work done, and we can specify the customer service provided by Pete Black Plumbing is pathetic.  We called Pete Black because a neighbor recommended him.  We should have checked Angie's List instead.  There's a reason for his dismal rating.

We used this plumber first for a backflow test required by the city.  That service went well both times and will continue to use him for these tests or other plumbing work.
When we needed a dishwasher installed (we had paid for installation through the seller, but they were unable to due it due to a plumbing mismatch. We were told to hire a plumber) I called Pete Black to set that up.  He came out (Pete himself) to do the work.  It seemed pricey and fraught with excuses.  The price was never quoted, I was just told how much to pay...it was about $250.  The dishwasher fell out about 2 weeks after it was put in.  I called back.  He made excuses as to why this was not his problem but was because the area wasn't even?!?  He actually had the nerve to charge me another $85 then act like he was doing me a favor in not charging me for the bracket and labor but only charging me for a visit.  The person who put in the dishwasher before him was (literally) blind.  We had zero problems with that installation.  I was unable to use the person who installed the prior dishwasher because his specialty is not in plumbing.
I do NOT recommend that you use this plumber unless you are a good negotiator and can force someone to stand behind their work for dishwasher installs.  It fell out again and I had to re-seat it.
He does a great job on the back flow tests and is good at normal plumbing work.

The plumber was here within 1 hr. of my phone call even though it was not an emergency.  He did an excellent job and was very professional.  I went to the website and printed a coupon for $30 that was taken off the total bill.  After paying over $400 to another company four years ago for just a sump pump, I was very pleased with the price.

Pete Black only wanted to ensure another service call with me. Each service call costs roughly $180.00 whether or not work is done. Here's what happens : the plumber shows up for the first service call and inspects the situation and in my case he installed the two shut off valves that supply my bathtub. Plumber decides that parts need to be ordered. When the parts come in, another service call is made and the plumber decides then that these new parts won't work or that more parts are needed and or his work is not done professionally and he needs to come back and fix a leak for example. Remember, his goal here is to ensure another expensive service call. I sent a check to only cover the first service call. He sued me for payment in full. In full in my case means that he wanted to charge me $180.00 for the second service call. His second service call was simply show up and say, "nope these parts won't work, I should have taken a better look in determining which parts to have you order." Magistrate ruled in favor of Mr. Black. Magistrate and Mr. Black were fraternizing during my trial, huh. I appealed and a judge ruled in my favor one hundred percent. Pete Black has over twenty case files in the Livingston County area over the past seven years. Most of Mr. Blacks cases were settled out of court and that is extortion via undue legal process. I certainly would NOT recommend this plumber. Also this plumber was a no call no show for first scheduled appointment and his arrival was late when he did show up. During my initial trial the case immediately before mine was between Pete Black Plumbing and a man with a leaky $850.00 O'ring consisting of six service calls because it kept leaking. This man appealed too and he eventually settle out of court. I spoke with the O'ring guy and it was the same scam. During prep for my appeal I was able to speak with another person that Pete Black had sued and sure enough he tried the same scam on her too. She settle out of court as well.
