McKeown Services

McKeown was originally hired to do a spring clean up.  They did that well and at a reasonable price.  As a result they were hired to do various other landscaping work:  fill in a 2 sink holes in the yard and reseed them, level uneven areas of the lawn, bring the lawn level with the walk and driveway, and repair the irrigation system, and other work.  In short, they did not pack the dirt in the sink holes so they reformed before the fall, buried large boulders in the larger sink hole, indiscriminately spread grass seed to flower beds and wooded areas, and did not repair the sprinkler system.  Additionally, areas of the lawn which were low or uneven were not raised as agreed.  They were supposed to reset landscaping stones in the shape of a half circle at the foot of the driveway.  They instead made it a deformed shape that now does not match the other side.  The owner, Jason (aka Jay) took the money and ran.  He did not return numerous phone calls or respond to my requests to return after having left dozens of messages.
I just signed up for Angie's List today and could not believe he is on here.  I cannot say loudly or strongly enough how much I advise avoiding this company.
DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE.

I had Mckeown Services perform a fall clean up which turned out better than I imagined! They went above and beyond. Jason was very professional. He came to look at my property the day and time he promised, gave me a detailed quote and even had some suggestions that would improve my landscape in the spring. I will deffinitly call him in spring to get new landscape and a spring clean up. I only had a certain budget to work with, Jason was understanding, and we worked out what services could be done for that price and he even thatched my lawn for free.
The crew arrived on time and started work immediately. Once they were done my lawn and flower beds were completely free of leaves and debris, my perennials were cut back, my flower beds were re edged, my lawn was thatched and the last lawn cut was done. I was overall pleased with the services done for the amount of money I spent.

Gave us an estimate to remove some sod and compacted soil underneath then replace with new sod.  Found concrete underneath which no one anticipated.  Charged me more to rent a jack hammer to remove concrete and put down new sod.  Seems, however, they did not remove the concrete after all.  Since that time they are not returning my phone calls and no showed for an appointment to investigate.  During the process the owner was full of excuses about the problems he's having.  I would not use them again.

WOW! Jason Mckeown and his team did a great job cleaning up our lawn and leaves this year.  We originally found this company via Craigslist and called early in the fall to get more information on costs and scheduling.  We've had a lot of problems in preivous years with other companies who never returned our phone calls or simply didn't show up to do the work. NOT THIS YEAR!!  Jason came to our house to look over the job and  gave us a very reasonable quote for the work.  He also proactively called us every week or so to see if all the leaves were down yet before he scheduled our clean-up.  His crew showed up on time, reviewed the work to be done, asked if we wanted additional services performed, like cutting back and removing all the perennials.  They also advised us of a small additional charge because our grass had grown quite tall since the original quote was provided.  The team left our yard sparkling with every leaf and twig gone, the driveway, sidewalk and patio clean and the lawn looking better than it had all year.  I will definitely call them in the spring for another clean-up and would recommend their services to my friends and neighbors.  Thanks and nice job!
