I hired this contractor after I talked with him extensively regarding hardwood flooring in my home and the fact I was a dog rescue and would have several dogs on the property including a handicapped puppy, my personal pet. However, I would be in my home during the install. Rivershores installer was RUDE, had no respect for my home or my requests and INTENTIONALLY left the door open so my dog would get out after I had request multiple times that he shut the sliding door when exiting my home. I even had to go behind him several times and shut the sliding doors to my lakeside deck. At one point I had to rescue my dog from the lake as he was let out and was chasing a swan to the middle of the lake. Being a puppy and handicapped I knew he would tire out and NOT make it back to shore and would drown. I had to take my pontoon out in high winds to rescue my handicapped Dog. The winds were so strong in early March, I fell off the pontoon after a large gust of wind wearing a heavy winter coat, boots and jeans, I had to cling to the sides of my pontoon for my life as I was being swept across the lake. After several horrifying minutes I managed to get back on board with my dog and returned to my dock only to find that the installer had taken off, when he knew the dog and I were in danger of drowning. He left my home wide open/unsecured including my garage so anyone off the street could just walk in. When I called the owner to tell him what happened he called me a liar and stated his installer would not do that. Upon further inspection of the work being done, Myself and my kitchen installer discovered that Rivershores installer had swept all the wood shavings/saw dust and pieces of hardwood down into my floor furnace heat vents. I had to have all the vents, duct work and furnace in my home cleaned as when the furnace kicked on it blew saw dust throughout the entire 2,400 sq ft of my home. It took over 10 hours to clean my home as dust was everywhere and covered everything including all my electronics, it embedded in my carpeting and was a HUGE mess. Three weeks after the install was completed my floor which was white birch when installed turned urine yellow. When I spoke to the owner about my concerns, he stated "well I told you it would darken" Well, we discussed at length that I DID NOT want yellow flooring because my home was all done in Cherry and the colors clashed! I tried to call the manufacturer after I could get NO WHERE with the contractor. The contractor request that the manufacturer NOT speak with me, to let him handle it. The contractor refused to even come and look at the floor he just kept repeating that he told me it would darken. I refused to pay the contractor for a defective finish on my floor. Almost three years after the install he decided to sue me for the money. I filed a counter suite against Rivershores and they returned and wanted to discount my floors to payment in full for $1,200. I refused as the flooring was UGLY and defective and I wanted it done right. After I spoke with other flooring contractors is was agreed the flooring was defective and the other contractors were going to testify to that fact in court against Rivershores. Rivershores ended up dropping their lawsuit and I still have an UGLY floor, I hate and now I will have to go through all that mess again to have it done right when I do the rest of the floors in my great room. This company and it's owner were my biggest nightmare and I do not recommend using them, they are rude, had no respect for my home or pets, unprofessional and installed substandard hardwood flooring, (at least they did in my home) I have the court papers and legal bills to prove it!
Description of Work: I hired Rivershores to install hadwood floors in my kitchen and dining room during an extensive kitchen remodel. What a mistake, this was the flooring and contractor from H***! I would NEVER allow this contractor back in my home again.

It went quite well. The company kept the house very clean and even after all the sanding, the house was clean and dust-free. We were having the work done on our new house in Michigan while we were packing up our old house in Pennsylvania. The only problem we had was that they did not begin the work when they said they would and thus did not finish the work on time (as they had agreed to do). Then, when we arrived with our moving truck from Pennsylvania, the floors did not have enough time to cure, so we could not put our rugs down.
Description of Work: Rivershores sanded and refinished the hardwood floors in four rooms, one hallway, and one set of steps. They removed the toe kick and replaced it.

Salesman arrived on time. He was experienced with the flooring, knew the the type of wood, reassured that the job was doable, and provided help in determination of how to treat the wood for the color. Job was scheduled. Because I had concerns about how well it would come out, their most experienced person came and viewed the floor, and was able to confirm that it was quite doable. The work took 4 days to perform, from sanding to applying oil, to poly. The quality of the work was remarkable, with their recommendation of using oil instead of stain coming out wonderful.
Description of Work: Re-sanded and finished 80-year old hardwood floor. Two rooms completed, both with significant surface defects including water damage, gashes, paint, and mortar scraped across the wood. Room was empty as we were not moved in yet. Work was scheduled out two weeks in advance. Almost all of the dust was cleaned by their team, leaving little to no work on my side.
