GARAGE DOOR DOCTOR SALES & SVC

If I could give them less than 1 star, then I would. I recommend that no one ever use this company's services. My 81-year-old mother had a garage door that wouldn't close. Rather than call me to help her, because she thinks she can still do things on her own, she called these charlatans. They came and told her she needed a new garage door opener and she told them she didn't want it fixed at that time. The technician then convinced her after a full hour that she needed to let him do it. He insisted that it "broke his heart" to leave an old lady without a working garage door. After saying no for an hour, she finally relented. (This is a common tactic for scam artists to take advantage of the elderly). After agreeing upon a price of $500 (which is extremely high) the technician changed ONLY the head unit and charged her $750. He gave her only 1 opener and did not change the wall opener. He said any additional openers would be $130 each. I only found out later that this was done. I called the company and they told me they would only deal with the 81-year-old woman and not her son who was willing to call them out on their scam. I looked up the exact same unit at Lowes, for $199 and Lowes would install for $179. That would have included all new electric eyes, a wall unit, 2 openers, a new belt and wiring, and a head unit. I then inspected their work and saw they did not even run new wires. The wires were spliced and the splice was not wrapped. It is just exposed wire. I told the company I would give them a week to fix their scam and we have not heard back from them. I am all about hiring locally, but any company that is willing to scam an 81-year-old woman out of her fixed income is not a company that I think should be doing business in our community!

Tech came within an hour of being called Very professional/friendly. Discovered the problem very quickly, fixed the problem and garage door was back in working condition!!

Rick showed up & made a complete list of materials. Called me with an estimate for repairs & a lead time to complete. Much to my surprise the parts arrived sooner than than he had thought & he had me back in business again quicker than promised! Rick, the "Garage Door Doctor" had fixed my garage door on my cottage on Algonquin Lk the year before. I would recommend Rick to anybody!
