Gary and his team are very professional. He came out, provided an estimate for the work, and performed the service exactly as planned, on-time and on-budget. I realize that backsplash work is only part of what his company can offer but, based on my experience, I would (will) give him consideration for other larger projects, when the time comes.

We purchased first 40 hours of  their Services through  Angie's  list and another 20 hours after that.

They were at my home twice and looked at the work and committed to COMPLETE the Work in 60-80 Hours ( max).  They said they are pretty sure that they will be done in 60 hours but Maximum 80 hours.  After 60 hours of work they still had Lot to finish and wanted us to buy another 40 hours again with NO COMMITMENT that when the work will be done.

They  have Bad Professional Ethics as you have to watch them for putting false hours as  their start and End time.  We caught them over  3 times.

They do a Quality job but  start dragging their feet immediately to burn time so that they can milk more money.  If you have to hire them then Bottom line NEVER give them advance money and NEVER hire them to pay by Hour

Response from GC Contracting Co LLC
"This is a outright lie I have sent Angies list the contract these folks signed that proves this falsehood in addition our attorney is currently exploring our options. you cannot say untruths about companies. All you have to do is look at all of our reviews and body of work. There are people that try to get something for nothing, we were professional in every aspect of this. We even discounted our rate some to try to help them as other contractor left job butchered and unfinished."

Gary Croney and his assistant Jeff were incredible! They installed our kitchen cabinets, moldings, trim and cabinet handles. Gary created a fabulous foundation to hold the granite countertop for an open table area of our kitchen island. He also expertly repaired an antique oak table. Gary and Jeff's work was flawless.  They showed up on time, worked hard, cleaned up their work area daily, completed the job in the frame of time as expected and did exactly what we had asked them to do.  They were personable, friendly and very easy going.  Gary helped us communicate with the cabinet manufacturer to make changes and to order more materials.  They gave us creative advice and helped us make décor decisions. We trusted them completely and their price was extremely reasonable.  We would definitely hire Gary Croney of GC Contracting again and would highly recommend them to our friends and neighbors!

The project presented a challenge as the home was missing toilets, tubs, flooring and vanity. The provider developed a plan for the flooring and drywall install and proceeded to perform a quality job. The workers were all top notch, and were happy to explain things to us while performing the work. The workers also cleaned up at the end of each day which was a plus. We only hired them to perform the rough work and it was a great experience. We plan to use them again and would definitely recommend the company for future work.

Only issue I had was the dirt.  It was hard for them to get the dirt out of the basement, along with the broken up cement.  My entrance to the basement is in the middle of my house.  They laid down runners and put up plastic.  Cleanup was difficult too.  That's the only part of this whole process that was a little difficult.  I'm still cleaning dust out of the basement!  Other than that the owner was very interested in making this a success.  He is very professional and really knows his work.  I have had no water in my basement.   I would use him again!

Dear Readers,

I need to clean up a mess that I have made.  I had bought a Big Deal for 40 hours of carpentry work last fall from GC Contracting Co LLC.  Gary Croney performed all my projects to perfection.  To say that Gary is highly skilled and loves his work is an understatement!  As previously mentioned, he removed a doorway casing and hinges and replaced with new casing and stained the new wood to form an archway between the living and dining rooms.  Good job!  Then, he set base cabinets in a small laundry room making it into a butler's pantry.  Very well done!  Lastly, Gary prepped a broom closet to be used as a laundry center.  Superb!  Matter of fact, his work was so good that another Angie's List contractor, who was remodeling my bathroom at the same time, marveled.  Yes, marveled, at Gary's work!

Here's the rub.  My projects fell short of 40 hours and I was to be credited for the remaining period of time.  Gary promptly sent the refund check the week that my beloved mother had unexpectedly died.  I had forgotten ever receiving his check!  As a result, unfortunately, many months later, I, error, had written a falsehood against Gary and posted in on Angie's List that I grievously regret.  Gary, understandably upset and hurt, furnished me with his check number and date that he sent the check which I believe as truth.  No amount of apologies to Gary and his family can correct this horrible mistake.

So, let's take my mistake and turn it into good for Gary and his family by showing our support and calling him with any or all of your carpentry needs and ring his phone "OFF THE HOOK"--ha-ha!

Thank you for your kind attention to my letter, dear readers.

Take care, Gary, and I hope that you are busy for a long, long time!  You and your family deserve every good thing on God's green earth.

Sincerely,

Judy

We had a metal wire closet organizer/rack and it collapsed under the weight of our clothes. We needed something heavy duty, but since it was in the basement, we didn't want to make a huge investment in our closet. We just needed something simple and STRONG. They did a fabulous job!

The gentleman that came out and did the work was very professional. He was very detailed and very thorough. He really took his time. I paid him for extra work. It was well worth the price. I would not use them again, because the owner and I did not see eye to eye.
Response from GC Contracting Co LLC
"Did not see eye to eye is a understatement. Customer went behind our back with employ that is no longer working for us to do work at another rate. I was not able to perform work due to back surgery at the time. I believe integrity is sorely lacking these days with some people. Employee that did work shocked us by doing that and frankly so did customer"

Took a little longer than promised.  I could not see the unit before leaving town as it was not cured enough to install.
I did not see the piece for a year later.
client liked it.  I had client send photos of the installation.
Photos showed it was done to specification and looked good.

I built a bay window including installing the windows and building the support structure. However, after doing this I found it was very difficult to create the finish trimming due to the requirement for so many careful and correct mitered cuts. Gary at GC Contracting was able to finish the bay window with elegant and perfectly fitting beveled cuts in the wood and trim. The window is now a focal point of the house, definitely adding aesthetic value and surely adding significant monetary value, as well. Gary was very professional, courteous, and prompt in providing his excellent carpentry work to finish our bay window. We highly recommend him!

Gary from GC was very professional and communicated well throughout the project.  (This is one of the hardest things to find today when looking for contractors to perform projects)  Gary pulled together different people from different companies to produce a great final project(s).
They first started on my tongue and groove ceiling and that took a week due to the very complicated compound cuts as well as all the final details required.  The goal was to create a ceiling that did not require moldings to cover the joints, so that meant that precision in the cuts and installation were important.  It looks great and was done for what I figured was a very fair price.
The second job was in creating new cabinets, shelving unit and benches for my mud room.   Gary brought in a cabinet company that he works very close with and together we laid out the project and finalized the details.  We reviewed a cad drawing of the room and cabinets and made the adjustments and approvals prior to fabrication.   The fabrication went well and was of high quality.  The installation also went very well and was of high quality.   I would trust GC to do any kind of cabinetry and custom word work in the future.  They also did this for a fair and reasonable price.
The third project was installing a new railing, post and framework for a basement stairway.   I had opened up a side wall and GC measured, cut and installed a new railing for that area.  The work included some detail work to hide a drain line inside the structure of the railing.   This worked out great and looks even better.  Again it was done for a very fair price.
Altogether, GC contracting did a great job at a good price.  I feel that I definitely got what I paid for (and maybe a little extra).  It was refreshing to deal with someone who is professional and returns my calls, texts and emails.   As always, things take longer than expected so be prepared with a proper timeline in mind.   I didn't mind that the things took a little longer with GC because it was fully communicated and agreed upon in advance.
Thanks to Gary and his crew for a great job!  I would recommend them for this type of work.

I took responsibility for removing most of the casing and trim before Gary started. This was a time saver for him and money savings for us. Many people might not be willing or able, but I'm handy and I enjoyed it. Gary started with the window and door casings in the living/dining area. We had selected the mill work. We had a hard time finding a profile that worked for our California ranch style. I mention this because after Gary did that first room, we changed our minds about the trim we had selected. We had Gary tear it down. It was a good sign that he didn't challenge us. He showed us that he could make custom casings out of flat poplar boards. This was a major change of scope, but it was exactly the look we were after. We do not have a deadline, so were able to "go with the flow". I bought and hauled lumber as needed. Gary had other jobs going, and we were okay with that. Scheduling was a bit tricky. He prefers to communicate by email. His craftsmanship is superb. He has good ideas, and if we had a better idea , he had the skill to make it happen and the grace to go along. The doors we chose have an etched horizontal line every foot and he worked hard to line up the horizon along each door in the hallway. He is amazing at fitting doors into frames that are out of plumb. He is very accommodating about our sometimes picky and detailed requests, and he doesn't take it as criticism, he just makes it happen. He is nice company and we trusted him in our house when we were at work and were out of town for a few days. This is still a work in progress, but we are coming down the home stretch. He gave us a great flat rate for the first full week of work, and then went to a very reasonable hourly rate after that. He is very mindful of not charging for breaks, lunch, etc.
Gary is also an incredible cabinet maker and we are thinking about having him update our kitchen cabinets as well as making a buffet for our dining room. We recommend him without hesitation and we are looking forward to using him for other projects in the future.

The project went very well.  We have a 20x20 Great room and had alot of trim work done to give it a finished look.  The entry to the kitchen is large and he trimmed it nicely so that it looked liked it was always part of the house.  Gary planned the project well and came up with a design that worked for the height of the walls. We absolutely love it.  We plan to have Gray plan and do our Kitchen remodel.
