KLING CONSTRUCTION

April 17, 2012 - Called Tim to quote several jobs.  I had trouble gettng him to give me the quotes although he said he really wanted the work.  Finally gave me quotes for demo a back porch and rebuild, putting in a bedroom closet and installing 6 windows (we provided 3 of them) on April 20th.  He said he could not start work until mid May, which I said was OK but would need him to commit to that date.  He said he understood that I had other work to be done that required an accurate time frame for his work. 
May 14, 17, 19 - No show and no call mid May, so I called him several days but he did not return my calls. 
May 20 - He said he was still working on a project but would get to mine in about 3 weeks which I agreed to.  No call, no show and no answer to his cell phone number. 
June 10 -  Said he needed a little more time before he was done with a job and would start next week.  Again, no call no show and we had siding people lined up for mid July thinking the porch would be done.  I had to cancel them and reschedule for August.
June  22 - After many calls to Tim, he came and put in 3 windows in the bedroom but said he would not be able to get to the porch until sometime in July.  I asked about the remaining 3 windows and the back door which he agreed to do in a couple of days.
July 2 - Tim showed up to be paid but said he couldn't do the rest of the work until next week as he was going on vacation.
July 8 - He did show up to put in the remaining windows (which he said he could only do on the weekends) but could not work until the job was done.   He only worked 3 hours and left on a Sunday afternoon saying he would be back to work on Tuesday evening and would finish the following Sunday.  Again, no call and no show either day.  He did not call again.
I reached him by phone on July 17 and asked him what happened.  He said he just got busy and forgot to call.  That's when I told him he services were no longer required.
I sent him a check for the 3 hours he worked by mail.
We had to hire someone else to put up the porch and do the finishing on the last 2 windows before the siding contractors could start their work. 
Tim does wonderful work; is excellent in cleaning up after he is done.  I cannot fault his work in any way and would have had him do all of our construction needs, but he was not dependable.  He would never call when he couldn't show up and was hard to reach to find out when he was going to work.  I wasted a lot of time waiting for him to commit to our projects.  He never did and lost out on about $20,000 worth of work done to our home.
