In March 2013 I had a furnace malfunction during the end of Winter in which I had to use the Yellow Pages to find emergency services since Hilt's Plumbing and Heating neither had an emergency phone number or message service. I had used their services for 8 years and as a business owner had gotten to the point that I could not trust their service. At one point I had a women's commode that was leaking. They used two wax and quot;donutsand quot; and shimmed the base and charged me $65. It worked for a few month's and leaked again. I'm pretty handy, so I went to the hardware store and got a double thick wax donut, removed the commode, cleaned it free of the old wax, removed the shims and it hasn't leaked for years. They insisted on using pipe wrenches to repair my chrome Sloan valves, leaving gouges in the chrome. Overall, their plumbing staff leaves a lot to be desired. Despite these misgivings, I prefer to do business with local businesses. I've even had them do some underground sewer plumbing for the campground that my wife and I own costing over $3000 They did a great job on this project, as it was not a repair, but a completely new project. Recently I needed an A/C certified refrigerant recovery agent to remove the refrigerant from a refrigerator that I am disposing of. They refused to do business after my conversation with them suggesting that they provide some form of emergency contact or referral to their customers with furnaces or other plumbing issues. They touted that they were the only nearby service and they would not be willing to provide the service. Their attitude during these conflicts has been unprofessional and they have had a total lack of concern for providing good customer support.
