C-NEE BUILDERS JIM SENEY

Jim Seney and all his staff were very polite and easy to work with. They have great ideas and excellent resolutions to problems that might arise. Everyone was concerned about the home owner and what they wanted and they were patient even though I could have been a little difficult at times. The weather was a little bit of a problem but they were patient and worked around the weather and around our schedule and they were very understanding and they did excellent work !

Jim Seney came out to my 80 year old Grandmothers home and inspected what he felt was the cause for water damage to the interior wall of her hall closet and hallway. She then contacted her insurance company and a check for over $3,500 was issued. Seney's crew showed up to start work soon after. I was present while they worked in my Grandmother's absence. The ceiling tiles were removed and underneath they found black mold and damage to the drywall. They TOLD me that they weren't going to remove the drywall but instead paint over the black mold with some Killz paint. I said that was not satisfactory and wanted the drywall replaced. After much complaining of the removal from his crew, it was finally removed and inspected that all the studs under the drywall were rotted. They were also replaced. When the studs and new drywall was installed they used the old studs which had black mold on them to anchor the new ceiling tiles. On different occasions after lunch I spoke with a member of Seney's crew that was heading the jobsite and smelled alcohol on his breath. In a random conversation he stated that he doesn't drink on the job. Maybe it was the Listerine talking. The new drywall was to be installed into the hall closet and finished by Seney himself. In the estimate, he told me that the flooring would have to be replaced. I thought that I was suppose to go to a home improvement store and pick out the new flooring. Seney TOLD me that he had some old vinyl flooring at home and it would be fine. The hot water heater is in this closet and next to it is an outlet. I mentioned that I would like the area to be up to code with a GFI outlet. Jim told me he would see what he could do but they cost like $15 a piece. He instead installed a normal outlet. At a later date I had a plumber that Seney recommended do work and he said that it wasn't up to code. I replaced it myself. $3500 and couldn't afford a $15 outlet? There was caulking that didn't get done on the outside wall where water was leaking in. I ran into Seney at a local hardware after and he said "I didn't know I was suppose to do that" and directed me to what supplies I would need to do it MYSELF. I had a light fixture installed by Seney and within a month it fell and hit me on the head. After the Winter of 2007 when the snow melted I had water pouring into my house in the same area. I called SEVERAL times to Seney and got no response. I mentioned to others in town that I should file a small claims and they told me to be careful because he sits on the city council and it may cause retaliation because he's a home-town boy. This job was suppose to be a 3 day job but took over 8 days with complaints that they had to work on Sunday to finish it after not showing up on certain days. This job hasn't been resolved and the insurance company said to file a new claim but I'd probably be denied and to just keep trying to contact C-Nee Builders and that word-of-mouth complaints go a long way. We will see.
