The price was great. It was a hybrid. It was what I was looking for. They stayed late to make sure the deal happened. They will bend over backwards for you to make it happen. The salesperson was good.

I think it was $32, if I’m not mistaken. Just very professional. They do a good job.

What we like most is their professionalism. It doesn't take a while for us to get in. Their waiting room is very pleasing. They offer popcorn, water, coffee. They have a TV on so we can watch TV. They do offer transportation while our car is there, but we don't use it. My husband will typically put his bike in the back of the truck and then ride his bike home. We've had favorable communication with their staff. They're a little bit pricier.

The cost for the oil change was $15.99 and for the maintenance which was the 75,000 mile service was like $300.

Pretty Quickly, 15 minutes after they pulled my car in they told me I need a new battery as the current one was running low. Outside of that the next communication was your car is ready.

The upshot of the review: The sales staff is great; the service department is so-so and continually tries to upsell more services; oil changes take a very long time.
I purchased my Honda Odyssey in 2011 through Rivertown, and Randy and the sales staff were extremely helpful and great to work with. My previous Odyssey had been totaled, and he knew I needed a replacement quickly. He found me a great used van, expedited the financing, and even replaced the tires at no additional cost. He went over all the newer options and called me a few days later to make sure everything was going well.
Unfortunately, I can't give the service department the same glowing review. I went there for oil changes, both because they are $14.95 and because I felt I could trust a Honda shop. There is always two long lines of cars waiting for oil changes, and it tends to take longer to get the work done. For my last oil change, I was there over 90 minutes. Worst of all, I have waited in Rivertown oil change lines for over two years before someone in service thought to tell me that, since I had purchased the van there, I could make an appointment and avoid the wait.
In addition, while I'm waiting, they continually try to sell additional services (such as tire rotations) or tell me I need new parts or tires and quot;immediatelyand quot; (a mechanic at a different shop said I could wait another six months).
After the long wait, the oil change process itself has a few issues. The mechanics routinely forget the reset the oil-life indicator on the dashboard (I've figured out how to do it myself), and after giving up on waiting and going somewhere else, I was told that two of the screws on the air filter casing weren't even there and hadn't been there in a while (one was gone completely; the other had been sheared off and the top set in the hole).
Now that I know I can make appointments, I will probably go back for oil changes--I'll just need to decline the upsells and make sure the indicator is reset. I will certainly be returning when I need to purchase my next vehicle.

Rivertown Honda is a professional organization and their discounted oil changes did the job of getting me in the door. I was impressed by their professionalism and their service . . . at first.
While changing the oil on our Honda Odyssey they recommended that we rotate our tires so they wore evenly. Thinking that sounded logical we agreed. This should have been simple and as far as we knew it was . . . until two weeks ago.
We went to Discount Tire to get a soft tire looked at and were informed that all four tires had been wearing unevenly (as on the inside sidewall of the tire - not normal) and that we would need to replace all four tires. After talking to the reps at Discount Tire it was obvious that the irregular wear on the rear tires (which were in the front when it went into Rivertown Honda) had happened while they were on the front of the van.
Unfortunately, when Rivertown Honda rotated the tires they didn't bother to tell us about the uneven wear and that meant that now we needed four new tires, not just two. We returned to Rivertown Honda and although they were nice to deal with and offered slight discount to do the repair work on the suspension (which was causing the uneven tire wear) they refused to take any responsibility for the additional two tires.
We took our van to CARS Automotive in Jenison and got the suspension work done for hundreds less (even after Rivertown's discount) and got the work performed the next day.
I think this was just a bad communication on the part of the service team at Rivertown. Had they informed us of the uneven wear at the time the tires were rotated we would have saved the cost of two more tires.

Last year I went in for an oil change to my Toyota Corolla. I only put about 5K miles a year on this car. So several months after this oil change I was driving down the street and became aware of a burning smell. I stopped the car went around to pop the hood and noticed oil running down the face of my car. When I lifted the hood, I realized they (Rivertown) had not replaced my oil cap. I was afraid to drive the car any further for fear of damage to my engine. I called them, they apologized and said my car should be OK to drive up to their dealership. I did this and they changed the oil, gave me tickets for 3 more free oil changes and power washed my engine and washed the exterior of my car. So even though I was surprised that such a classy place would do this, I do feel mistakes happen and they did everything they could to make it right. I will just make sure after I get my changes to check my oil cap.

It went well. They brought the filters right out to me to show how dirty they were and explained why new ones where needed. They also told me I could go with the generic version verses the honda version because it was cheaper and just as good.

These guys are fabulous. I don't normally go to dealerships for service, as they're usually expensive, impersonal, and arrogant. Not Rivertown. We have taken ALL of our cars here, even the ones that aren't Honda, and they do a fabulous job. It is a little more money, but the peace of mind is worth it.
In our most recent experience, we were very leery of getting our teenage daughter's Honda repaired, especially at a cost of $1000. But, she can't afford to get another car right now, and we live out of town, so she needs reliable transportation. Our service tech, Dwayne Scheller took the time to talk with not only us, but our daughter as well about the pros and cons of fixing the car. In fact, he initially discouraged us from doing so, but after weighing all the options, we all decided it was the best option.
A word about Dwain - he's one of the most professional and honest individuals I've ever met. In fact, the whole team at Rivertown exemplifies what service, excellence and integrity are all about. I wish I could've taken them with us when we moved. Good mechanics are hard to find.

Rivertown Honda is amazing. We have been using them exclusively for the past 6 years, and I know that I can count on them for honest service at a fair price. Yes, their prices are higher than other auto shops in the area, but they warranty their parts AND labor, and use OEM parts unless the customer requests otherwise.
They are always available to give you a ride to/from the shop if your car is in for extended service- either to the mall for the afternoon, or back and forth from your home. They're eager to please, will offer you a rental if you need one at no cost, and they're always very polite.
When I have had my car in for emergency service at other Honda dealerships out of state, and felt like I was being taken advantage of, the staff at Rivertown has actually called the dealership and gone over everything, advocating for me, saving me over $3,000 in and quot;fakeand quot; problems the less than reputable dealerships have tried to force on me.
I'd recommend these folks in a heartbeat!

Oil and lube filter, the usual. We pulled in and were next in line, they finished, and we were on our way. Very punctual, and professional. They really do a good job. We were there with our Chevy, they do all the checks, the tires and want to see if everything is just the way it is supposed to be. They don't check just the oil levels. They are really thorough.

We had purchased the car from them earlier in the year, and where very happy with our purchase, and with the customer service related to that purchase.
A couple of weeks ago I contacted Rivertown Honda to have a remote starter installed on our car. I asked for a price quote on the remote starter for the 2011 CRV, and they gave me one. I then scheduled to have the starter installed, and was pleased to know it could be done the next day. My wife took the car in, and though it took several hours longer than they had quoted, we were still excited at how fast it could be done.
When I returned home from work that evening she showed me the remote starter, and it was not the Honda starter, but a different brand I had not heard of.
I contacted our service technician the next day to ask why a non-Honda part had been installed in our car, and was told that they generally do not install the Honda starters because they are more expensive.
The whole point of going to the dealer to have this installed was so that a Honda part (an option when buying the car new, and according to Honda, will work with our car's anti-theft system, whereas other brands will interfere.) could be installed in our Honda. If I had know the price was for a generic part, I could have shopped around, or not had it installed at all.

I bought my Honda Civic from them in 2006. I am very happy with their service and always go there for my oil changes and other needs. They are very friendly and quick. They also have a beautiful showroom.
