+ 0 moreWe contacted Surpass renovations because a coworker had used scott christopher homes on a new build and recommended them highly, and Surpass I understand to be remodeling devision of this builder. We called to arrange a meeting and were asking for a bid from this remodeler for a total master bathroom remodel with a tentative budget of 45K. We explained we had 2 other contractors bidding on project. Our impression was that contractor was somewhat off put to have to be taking time to compete for a project. He was certainly not as friendly as others we had dealt with. Perhaps this remodeler is already very busy and our project was not large enough to warrant a lot of attention, but they did agree to come out. We did not use a designer but already had selected and provided all of the finishes for the bathroom and had design. Surpass did come to our home and we walked through our project. After about 2 weeks we did get an email but unlike our other contractors who provided a detailed estimate all we got was a number in our email from surpass. They were higher than the other contractors but we did expect that going in. The problem was it took several days to get a response to any attempt at communication, whether text message, email or call. I always got voicemail. I asked to meet by both text and voicemail to discuss the estimate in more detail as I was told they had 9 page cost study prepared, but I never heard back and never received this cost study. After I called and texted to ask to meet and waited two weeks without response we really just decided that for whatever reason we were not really a priority for this remodeler and moved along.

Description of Work: I spoke with the contractor's administrative assistant on July 2nd requesting an estimate to have our house re-sided. I was told somebody would be in contact within a couple of days. After not hearing back I called again on July 7th, explained that I had not heard from anyone and was told somebody would be getting back to me the same day. After not hearing back I called again on July 9th and was given the voice mail of another individual and was still not contacted.

+ -1 moreI know people who have used them and everything I have ever heard about them is fabulous. They were responsive, very very helpful, and gave me good information. I was very pleased, but my work with them was very limited. We have family members who have used them for renovation and the quality of their work was just beautiful. They were wonderful.
Description of Work: I had them go through a potential home we were looking at with me. I wanted them to look at the structure of the house and renovation possibilities. They gave me a rough estimate which is exactly what I asked them to do. They gave me very broad ranges and they pointed out things I haven't seen.

Description of Work: Our first experience with R.A.T. Construction was when we purchased a home built by them. After using this company for several remodeling projects, we made a decision to purchase land to build a home. This was our first experience building an new home. Ron and Tim were right there everyday from the start of demolition. They were always on time and patient with decisions. They added special features and creative decorative touches that make our home stand out. We continue to use R.A.T. for additional remodeling projects.

Description of Work: We purchased a "dated" ranch home on an inland lake. We inquired from others who had major remodeling of their homes and decided to contact R.A.T. Construction. Unlike many other construction companies who tend to favor new construction, RAT Construction showed enthusiasm for our remodeling job. We added a formal dining room, increased our kitchen size x 3, completely re-did our family and living rooms, increased our garage size x1.5 and raised the roof to allow for 9 foot ceilings. In addition, we changed the exterior from a "dated" brick and aluminum siding to cement board siding with cultured stone enhancement, new roofing, new driveway and of course, all new entry doors and Anderson windows. We have more remodeling to do but we must pace ourselves. In the summer of 2012 we hired R.A.T. Construction to replace the wood decking around the swimming pool with a much more attractive composite deck and metal railing that compliments the exterior of our home. When we are ready to do the master suite and the walk-out basement, we shall be calling Ron and Tim. I would recommend their company and I trust their choices of subcontractors as well. All of the people who worked in our home during the 5 month remodel were professional, pleasant and respectful of the fact our family of 4 maintained in-house residence during the construction. Also of note is that Ron and Tim will back up the quality of their work. If you have thoughts of renewing the look of your home, consider R.A.T. Construction.
